Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of punishment and learning motivation on learning outcomes through learning discipline as a mediating variable among tenth-grade Accounting students at SMK Negeri 7 Medan. The study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design involving 209 students selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results showed that punishment did not significantly affect learning outcomes, indicated by a coefficient value of 0.106 and p-values of 0.150. In contrast, learning motivation had a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes with a coefficient value of 0.276 and p-values of 0.000. Punishment and learning motivation also had positive and significant effects on learning discipline, with coefficient values of 0.436 and 0.350, respectively. Furthermore, learning discipline significantly affected learning outcomes and mediated the relationship between punishment, learning motivation, and learning outcomes. The novelty of this study lies in the placement of learning discipline as a mediating variable in explaining the relationship between punishment, learning motivation, and learning outcomes among vocational high school students, particularly in accounting education.

Abstract

The aims of this research to analyze the link of auditor competence and audit quality and to examine the role of audit agility as moderator in the link auditor competence and audit quality at KAP in Medan City. This study uses a questionnaire survey with purposive sampling of auditors who have used digital-based audit technology. Data analysis using SmartPLS 4.0 with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results indicated that auditor competence has a significant positive effect on audit quality. Audit agility is proven to strengthen the link of auditor competence on audit quality. More specifically, the findings suggest that the effect of auditor competence on audit quality becomes more optimal when supported by a high level of audit agility. Building on these findings, auditor competence significantly enhances audit quality, with audit agility further strengthening and optimizing this relationship, while control variables such as age, work experience, and professional certifications show no significant effect. These results imply that improving audit quality requires not only strengthening auditors’ competencies but also adaptive, responsive, and collaborative in audit practices.

Abstract

The low completion of students' basic competency scores, indicated by draft data that 54.4 percent of students have not reached the minimum completion criteria, is the background to this research activity. These operational problems trigger inefficiencies in mastering financial reporting concepts and limited cognitive retention of students in deepening advanced accounting material. The main focus of this scientific study is to analyze the influence of study time management and learning independence partially or simultaneously on Basic Accounting learning outcomes. The steps of the quantitative approach with the ex post facto method are operated using a standardized Likert scale questionnaire and a documentation study of mid-term exam scores. Sampling is carried out using a total sampling technique involving the entire active population of 68 tenth grade students at SMK Negeri 1 Patumbak. The actual data processing procedure is executed through multiple linear regression analysis modeling using statistical software. The research findings empirically prove a positive functional contribution that is unidirectional and significant through the formation of the estimation formula Y = 20.202 + 0.834X1 + 0.804X2. The main conclusion confirms that strengthening self-study schedule management and minimizing instructional dependency has proven highly effective in boosting student academic achievement. Vocational education practitioners are recommended to consistently draft self-regulation guidance programs.
