Abstract

Kemampuan berpikir kreatif sangat dibutuhkan dalam menghadapi masalah seharihari dan menyelesaikan masalah matematika yang membutuhkan ide baru. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif diperlukan dalam memunculkan ide baru. Salah satu alat yang dapat digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif yaitu pengajuan masalah matematika. Penelitian yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas VIII di Surabaya ini bertujuan untuk menggali kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dalam mengajukan masalah matematika pada situasi semi-terstruktur. Sebanyak 4 siswa dipilih sebagai subjek wawancara yaitu 1 subjek pada masing masing tingkat berpikir kreatif (TBK) 1”4. Untuk mengetahui kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dilakukan analisis tugas pengajuan masalah matematika berdasarkan kefasihan, kebaruan, dan fleksibilitas serta wawancara. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa pada TBK 1, 2, dan 3 membuat soal sederhana yang sering ditemui dalam pembelajaran matematika dan menjawab dengan cara yang telah diajarkan sebelumnya. Sedangkan siswa pada TBK 4 dapat membuat soal dan cara penyelesaian yang lebih kompleks dengan menambahkan dan memodifikasi situasi yang diberikan. Selain itu dalam mengajukan soal siswa memikirkan jawaban terlebih dahulu dan menggunakan pengalaman matematika terdahulu.

Abstract

This is a case study investigating a primary teacher’s beliefs, knowledge, and teaching practice in mathematical problem solving. Data was collected through interview of one primary teacher regarding his beliefs on the nature of mathematics, mathematics teaching, and mathematics learning as well as knowledge about content and pedagogy of problem solving. His teaching practice was also observed which focused on the way he helped his students solve several different mathematics problems in class based on Polya’s problemsolving process: understand the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and looking back. Findings of this study point out that while the teacher’s beliefs, which are closely related to his problem solving view, are consistent with his knowledge of problem solving, there is a gap between such beliefs and knowledge around his teaching practice. The gap appeared primarily around the directive teaching which corresponds to instrumental view he held in most of Polya’s process during his teaching practice, which is not consistent with beliefs and knowledge he professed during the interview. Some possible causes related to several associate factors such as immediate classroom situation and teaching practice experience are discussed to explain such inconsistency. The results of this study are encouraging, however, further studies still need to be conducted.

Abstract

Mathematics learning during the COVID-19 pandemic was initially carried out online or based on a network (online). However, as time goes by where the spread of COVID-19 is getting smaller, mathematics learning is carried out face-to-face directly by paying attention to health protocols called offline or off-network-based learning. Therefore, teachers need to know the current student's learning motivation which is taught off-network-based learning. Therefore, an analysis of student motivation in off-network-based creative mathematics learning was carried out by giving a questionnaire to the seventh-grade students of SMP Dharma Wanita Medan, amounting to 27 people as research subjects. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Year. While the object of this research is student learning motivation with six indicators, namely responsibility, trying to excel, liking challenges, independence, fortitude, and tenacity. This research is a qualitative-research with descriptive method. The results of this study stated that students' motivation in off-network-based creative mathematics learning was good.

Abstract

Everyone’s perspective is different. Likewise, the student’s perspective on mathematics. It is undeniable that most childran claim that mathematics is difficult. Behind the statement, of course, there is a reason for the child. This is related to student responses when studying in mathematics class. One alternative to knowing student responses can be found by conducting research. Therefore, qualitative research is needed to analyze student responses. The application of learning using creatibe module comics based on a realistic mathematics approach has been implemented for all students of class VII-B at SMP Santo Yoseph Medan in the 2020/2021 Academic Year. In this study students’ responses to the application of learning were analyzed specifically for integer operation material. The learning is carried out online based on the creative realistic mathematics video comic module in the Google Classroom. The instrument used was a student response questionare which was presented via google form. Based on the results of data collection that has been done, it is concluded that the student’s responses are positive to learning using the creative module comic based on realistice mathematics approach. It is based on obtaining a high score on the average percentage of interest and benefits that students derive from implementation.

Abstract

Pembelajaran matematika di kelas masih banyak yang menekankan pemahaman siswa tanpa melibatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif. maka pembinaan soal soal olimpiade perlu dilakukan oleh lembaga non formal. Salah satunya adalah Klinik Pendidikan MIPA (KPM) yang mengembangkan kelas khusus dan disebut siswa berbakat yang menitik beratkan pembelajaran matematika berupa soal-soal olimpiade yang menuntut siswa untuk berlatih mempergunakan nalarnya untuk berpikir kreatif. Subyek penelitian ini terdiri dari 38 siswa laki-laki dan siswi perempuan kelas 5 berbakat di KPM Cabang Surabaya. Adapun indikator berpikir kreatif yang digunakan adalah indikator kefasihan, indikator fleksibilitas, indikator kebaruan. Instrumen yang dipakai pada penelitian yakni : Tes evaluasi dan wawancara. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa laki-laki dan perempuan pada penelitian ini menggunakan Uji Mann Whitney, mendapatkan hasil bahwa  Z hit= 6,375 > Z tabel= 1,96. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa Ho ditolak atau Terima H1. Kesimpulannya kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa laki-laki berbeda dengan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswi perempuan. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa laki-laki dan perempuan dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika terkait soal matematika olimpiade memperlihatkan bahwasannya siswa laki laki lebih banyak yang menyelesaikan dengan cara penyelesaian sama dengan yang dibuat pertama. Kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa perempuan dalam menyelesaikan soal olimpiade rata rata sudah mampu menyelesaikan penyelesaian lebih dari satu cara. Untuk indikator kebaruan siswi perempuan sudah mampu menjawab jawaban lebih dari satu dan beragam. Tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif  siswa  perempuan lebih tinggi hal ini terlihat dari persentase 53,85% siswa perempuan pada tingkat berpikir kreatif. Sedangkan siswa laki-laki sebesar 16,67 % tingkat berpikir kreatif. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara, bahwasnnya memperlihatkan baik siswa perempuan maupun siswa laki-laki sama-sama menunjukkan bahwa sudah memiliki tingkat kemampuan berpikir kreatif yaitu sangat kreatif , kreatif dan kurang kreatif.

Abstract

The purpose of this quantitative research with correlational design is to determine whether there is independent learning with learning motivation in online-based mathematics learning. So, it can support the success of learning process. This study was conducted in the odd semester of the 2021/2022 Academic Year. All seventh-grade students of SMP Santo Yoseph Medan were used as the research population. While the samples of this study were all students of class VII-A who collected 30 people and all students of class VII-B who collected 31 people. In mathematics learning, all students are taught online through the Zoom cloud meeting platform, WhatsApp, and Google Classroom. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. The study instruments is a learning independence questionnaire and student learning motivation questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed based on product moment correlation data. Data analysis of the research results showed sig. (2-tailed) < 0.05 so that there is a significant relationship between learning independence and students' learning motivation in online-based mathematics learning with a value of 0.433 including the category of moderate correlation.

Abstract

A teacher needs to observe student responses when learning takes place. During the Covid- 19 pandemic, it was to observe student responses when learning takes place online. However, efforts are still being made to determine student responses to online learning. Student responses is needed to determine the cognitive and affective development of student when learning take place. Therefore, a study was conducted on the analysis of student responses to mathematics learning. Mathematics learning applied in this study uses online learning, namely using a learning container, namely Google Classroom. This research ia a qualitative research which aims to analyze students’ responses to mathematics learning based on google classroom. This research involved subjects, namely students of class VII-C SMP Santo Yoseph Medan in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 Academic Year, totaling 32 people. The instrument used to analyze student responses was a questionnaire designed online in the form of a google form. The results of this study explain that student responses are positive towards google classroom-based mathematics learning. This is studied based on indicators of student responses.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kualitas pengajuan soal materi Penyajian Data pada siswa kelas V. Siswa yang dapat merumuskan soal matematis memiliki kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang lebih tinggi daripada siswa yang tidak dapat membuat soal. Dalam penelitian ini, ada tiga aspek yang dianalisis, yaitu aspek sintaksis, semantik, dan tingkat kesulitan soal yang diajukan siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V-C sebanyak 26 siswa di SD Muhammadiyah Manyar, Gresik. Data penelitian ini berupa kumpulan pertanyaan/soal yang diajukan siswa berdasarkan informasi yang diberikan guru. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan lembar tugas pengajuan soal selama satu hari. Analisis dilakukan dengan menentukan jenis proposisi, jumlah relasi semantik, dan tingkat kesulitan soal buatan siswa. Setelah itu data disajikan secara terorganisir dan terkategori yang memungkinkan dilakukan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aspek sintaksis soal yang diajukan siswa, mayoritas termasuk dalam kategori proposisi penugasan. Pertanyaan yang dihasilkan tersebut langsung menuju pada tugas yang perlu dikerjakan. Pada aspek hubungan struktural semantik, mayoritas pertanyaan siswa termasuk kategori menyatakan kembali (restate) karena soal yang diajukan hanya mengandung data yang sudah ada dalam informasi yang diberikan dan jawabannya bisa ditemukan langsung dalam informasi tersebut. Selain itu, mayoritas pertanyaan juga termasuk kategori mengelompokkan (group) karena soal yang diajukan menggabungkan beberapa data yang ada dalam informasi yang diberikan atau mampu menggabungkan beberapa poin pertanyaan dalam sebuah pertanyaan. Pada aspek semantik juga ditemukan sebanyak 63,46 persen soal buatan siswa termasuk soal 1-relasi. Sementara itu, tingkat kesulitan sebagian besar pertanyaan yang diajukan siswa termasuk mudah. Hal itu dibuktikan sebanyak 58,97 persen pertanyaan mempunyai skor 1. Namun demikian, struktur bahasa yang digunakan siswa dalam membuat pertanyaan mayoritas sudah sesuai dengan tata bahasa Indonesia, dan sudah sesuai dengan materi, serta dapat diselesaikan sesuai dengan informasi yang ada

Abstract

This research deals with the challenge of helping student who has difficulty in constructing trigonometry proof. This qualitative research that describing scaffolding process using questions involves 20 students in second grade of senior high school, then selects a student from the 11 students who cannot solve the proof completely. Student’s work on proving test and interview recording are collected and analysed data to identify student’s difficulty, type of scaffolding to help, and development produced. This research points out the difficulty student faces are: difficulty in devising strategy, stuck in the process, unable to find the next step, and unable to find relation between two terms. Scaffoldings given are: asking the characteristic of what to be proven, asking a concept that may be used, directive question, facilitative utterance, trans active prompt and bridging analogy. Furthermore, developments produced from scaffolding given are: student can purpose new idea and strategy, can find relation between two things or two concepts, and student can determine and use appropriate concept.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategic competence of students in solving story problems in Congruence. This research uses descriptive qualitative research method with 15 students in class IX-A as the subject. The subject selection test used is a personality test of students who have a melancholic type which is adapted directly from the instrument that has been compiled by Florence Littauer. From the sampling of melancholic type students, strategic competencies will be analyzed in solving math problems on the similarity material. The results of personality tests for students in grades IX-A are 2 students who are melancholic type, 4 students are choleric type, 4 students are phlegmatic type, 5 students are sanguinis type. Two students, namely 2 males with a melancholic personality type, were selected as research subjects for a strategic competency test and continued with interviews based on strategic competency indicators. The results of data analysis showed that 2 students met the indicators of strategic competence in solving mathematical problems in the Comparison material. Melancholy type students fulfill strategic competence indicators, namely understanding the situation and conditions of a problem, finding key words and ignoring irrelevant things from a problem, presenting problems mathematically in various forms, choosing the appropriate presentation. to help solve problems, choose an effective solution method in solving a problem and find a solution to the given problem. These findings indicate the need for further research on learning styles.
