Abstract

Background: The microbiota population in breast cancer tissue is known to have a crucial role in the tumor microenvironment supporting developmental ability. Despite a heterogeneous profile, the relationship between microbiota and breast cancer is still not fully understood. Therefore, this study aimed to explain the major microbiota profile associated with breast cancer and explore potential biological connections Methods: Following the PRISMA guidelines, the literature review investigated the diverse composition of microbiota profiles in breast cancer patients compared to those in normal conditions. Utilizing the PICO framework, a comprehensive search was conducted on the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. The searches were restricted to open-access articles from the last 5 years. Additionally, critical appraisals are conducted for quality assessment. Results: A total of 145 articles were identified using the relevant keywords, out of which 17 successfully passed filtering and screening for inclusion in the review. Major microbiota observed in breast cancer patients included firmicutes, proteobacteria, actinobacteria, and bacteroidetes. The microbiota profile was influenced by factors such as cancer subtype, menopausal history, and tumor severity. These microorganisms play a role in the inflammatory response to their metabolite products and modulate hormonal changes, potentially enhancing tumor survival. Conclusions: Generalizing the expression of microbiota profile both in the gut or its tissue might be challenging due to its multifactorial nature, dependent on patient characteristics such as age, menopausal status, BMI, tumor grade, and subtype. The study suggests that the major microbiota that shows increased prevalence in breast cancer include firmicutes, proteobacteria, actinobacteria, bacteroidetes, and blautia, each playing a distinct role in the developmental process.

Abstract

Introduction: Tuberculosis remains public health problem worldwide. Pulmonary tuberculosis  is an infectious disease that is transmitted from smear-positive pulmonary tuberculoasis patients. Tuberculosis infection has a high risk of being transmitted when there is contact with TB patients. This phenomenon explains that the risk factors for pulmonary tuberculosis transmission are closely related to contact status with tuberculosis patients. Methods: Literature review was carried out by searching articles through electronic databases (Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink) using the keywords tuberculosis contact status, risk factors for tuberculosis events, and contact status AND incident of pulmonary tuberculosis. The inclusion criteria for the articles used were articles published in accredited national and international publication articles, the year of publication of the article in the 2017-2023 range, full text, open access, and no restrictions related to research design in the article. Nine articles were selected for analysis. Articles are analyzed using matrix tables and Prism schemes. Results: Based on a literature review, it was found that there was an effect of contact status on the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Contact status with tuberculosis -infected patients affects the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis transmission. Contact with tuberculosis patients can occur in the household, hospital environment, and school. Conclusion: Based on the literature study, it is explained that the status of contact with tuberculosis patients significantly affects and has a high risk of developing pulmonary tuberculosis. Keywords: Contact status, Literature review, Pulmonary tuberculosis

Abstract

Integrated development post of non-communicable diseases (Posbindu penyakit tidak menular/PTM) is one of the strategies implemented by the MOH of Indonesia for prevention, screening, and early detection through community empowerment and community involvement in reducing the number of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cancer. This study aimed to explore the barriers to reducing the risk of cancer. Twelve participants were involved in this study using in-depth interviews and participant observations. All the interviews and discussions were recorded using an audio tape recorder and also using field notes, and then a transcript was transcribed verbatim. Five themes emerged namely providing funding for the program, obtaining appropriate support from the government based on the community’s needs and a health workforce shortage, sharing and discussing the health information, and cultural practices of the community as barriers to reducing the risk of cancer in the community. The study results can be used as evidence to develop and sustain effective strategies to address the barriers to reducing the risk of cancer in communities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: The incidence of tuberculosis is an important problem now. One of the risk factors that influence tuberculosis is nutritional status. Malnutrition and tuberculosis are interrelated problems.  Aims of the study is to clearly understand the relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis literature. Method: A literature review was carried out by searching articles through electronic databases (Google Scholar, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and SpringerLink) using the keywords nutritional status, tuberculosis, risk factors for the incidence of tuberculosis, and nutritional status incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. The inclusion criteria for the articles used were articles published in accredited National and International publications articles, year of publication of the articles in the range 2017-20123, full text, open access, and cross-sectional study research design. Seven articles were selected for analysis. Articles were analyzed following Prisma Guidelines. Results: Based on a literature review, it was found that there was a relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Nutritional status affects a person’s immune system. When nutritional status is in poor condition, the body’s immune system will be low, making it susceptible to disease, one of which is pulmonary tuberculosis. On the other hand, tuberculosis can worsen a person’s nutrition due to the disease process. Conclusion: Based on studies, it is explained that nutritional status has a significant relationship and a high risk of the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis. Nutritional status and pulmonary tuberculosis have a reciprocal relationship.
