Abstract

Patient safety and prevalence of nosocomial infections are directly related to the problem of airborne germs in the operating room. If not properly controlled, airborne microorganisms can increase the risk of surgical problems and prolong the recovery period, thus jeopardizing patient safety. This disease can also be the cause of nosocomial infections. The main purpose of this study was to determine the most common microorganisms found in operating rooms in Indonesia. By collecting and analyzing data from a variety of literature sources, the study provides a deeper understanding of the composition of airborne microorganisms, the factors that influence them, and their implications for clinical practice and hospital policy. This study collected 37 articles filtered according to inclusion and exclusion criteria using the preferred reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis (PRISMA) model. It was found that Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Escherichia coli became the most frequently occurring microrganisms. The results of this study have consequences that emphasize the need for better hygiene habits, efficient ventilation systems, and increased awareness of infection risks among medical personnel. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to improving the standard of safety and patient care in hospitals in Indonesia.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Adolescents' dental and oral health problems are significant to pay attention to. Because the incidence rate is relatively high, adolescents/students often experience dental and oral health problems due to the lack of proper education in maintaining dental and oral hygiene and health. Through video media and pocketbooks supported by attractive visual displays and thin but informative pages, it can be one solution to providing health education to students. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using video media and pocketbooks as educational and health promotion media for improving students' dental and oral health. Method: This study used an experimental design with a pre-test and post-test model conducted on 104 students who were taken using purposive sampling. Then, this study was analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test to compare the effectiveness of students' knowledge and attitudes before and after dental and oral health education. Results: The results showed increased knowledge (value: 0.000) and attitudes (value: 0.001) of students before and after being educated using pocketbook media about dental and oral health. Conclusion: providing pocketbooks and videos as health promotion education media is effective in improving students' knowledge and attitudes toward maintaining dental and oral health. Developing pocketbook content to be more varied and informative and using other promotional media to strengthen students' knowledge and attitudes is necessary.

Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 vaccination program faces significant challenges due to public hesitation, with some individuals rejecting or harboring doubts across the 34 provinces of Indonesia. The Health Belief Model, one of the most widely used theories for understanding health and illness behaviors, provides a framework for examining participants' perceptions of susceptibility, severity, benefits, barriers, self-efficacy, and cues to action regarding COVID-19 vaccination. This study aimed to assess the acceptance of the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (Booster) using the Health Belief Model at Peureulak Public Health Center, East Aceh. Method: This research was conducted at the Peureulak Health Center, East Aceh. and employed an analytical quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving 394 participants selected through purposive sampling. Data analysis methods applied include univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Result: Results showed a significant association between perceived susceptibility and vaccine acceptance, particularly concerning infection risk. However, no significant relationship was identified between perceived severity and acceptance. Perceived benefits, in the terms of the belief that vaccination could reduce the risk of infection or complications and alleviate concerns about COVID-19 were strongly associated with vaccine acceptance. Perceived barriers were also significantly related to vaccine acceptance, especially regarding concerns over potential side effects. Additionally, cues to action, such as adequate information about COVID-19 and vaccination, positively contributed to increased vaccine acceptance. Conclusion: perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, and cues to action were significantly related to vaccine acceptance.

Abstract

Particulate matter 2.5 (PM2.5) is a pollutant that negatively impacts environmental quality and poses health risks to populations exposed over long periods. In Yogyakarta, PM2.5 is the primary pollutant, particularly in urban areas with heavy traffic, such as train stations. This study analyses the risk level of PM2.5 exposure among workers at Yogyakarta Railway Station using an environmental health risk analysis approach. The data was obtained from BB Labkesmas Yogyakarta's study in October 2023, involving 15 respondents working in the station's waiting area. PM2.5 analysis was conducted using a High-Volume Air Sampler (HVAS) with the gravimetric method, and respondents were selected through incidental sampling. The results show that the PM2.5 concentration at Yogyakarta Railway Station (74.97 µg/m³) exceeds the air quality standards set by The Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 02/2023. Risk analysis calculations indicate that most workers remain within the safe category (HQ ≤ 1) for both a 30-year lifetime exposure projection and a real-time exposure projection. However, a respondent is exposed to an unsafe risk (HQ>1), so precautions must be taken to reduce the risk to a safe level. Additionally, it is necessary to conduct a risk analysis study based on a specific period in the future.
