Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of alumni in the mentorship program to support the international achievements of MTs Abadiyah Pati students. Specifically, exploring the dynamics of alumni involvement in assisting madrasah students to compete at the global level, as well as identifying key factors that influence the effectiveness of the mentorship program in the context of Islamic education. The method used is a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and analysis of program documents during the period 2018-2023. The study involved 12 key informants consisting of alumni mentors, international high-achieving students, and mentorship program managers. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to identify patterns of alumni roles and their impacts. The results of the study revealed that alumni play three main roles in the mentorship program: (1) inspiring role models who break stereotypes about the limitations of madrasa graduates, (2) academic mentors who facilitate the transfer of knowledge and competition strategies, (3) a central role as international network facilitators who open access to global resources, psychological-emotional supporters who understand the specific pressures and challenges of madrasa students. These findings indicate that the alumni mentorship program plays a significant role in improving student achievement in international competitions in science, technology, and arts and culture. Further research recommendations require a study of the impact of the mentorship program on academic and professional journeys to expand the reach and positive impact of alumni on madrasa students throughout Indonesia.

Abstract

The protection system in electrical engineering is a crucial component in maintaining electrical reliability. The protection system is a vital component that needs attention. Its utility not only serves as a parameter for the reliability of the electrical system but also as a safeguard for electrical system devices, starting from power suppliers (Power Plants), interconnection networks, transmission networks, to distribution networks. In Indonesia, with the unique dynamics of the domestic market, periodic evaluation of relays becomes important. This study investigates the current status and dominance of relay usage in Indonesia. Using a literature study method, we broadly identify the functions, utilities, and applications of Over Current Relay (OCR), Ground Fault Relay (GFR), Differential Relay, and Reverse Power Relay in Indonesia's electrical system. This literature study outlines several types of relays in Indonesia and their dominant usage in the electrical system, providing insights for readers and institutions using relays in Indonesia's electrical system. The implications of this literature study are to broaden the knowledge of the authors and readers and to encourage continuous innovation. With an understanding of the types of relays in Indonesia's electrical system, strategic steps can be taken to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electrical protection system in Indonesia.

Abstract

All human activities depend on electrical energy. The use of new renewable energy in Indonesia is still around 15%, even though Indonesia has great potential for new and renewable energy sources, especially water-based alternative energy. PLTMH is one example of the utilization of new renewable energy from water sources. Turbine is one of the important components in PLTMH. This study aims to conduct a literature review on turbine types and trends in PLTMH design publications using the systematic literature review method.  The review results show that the crossflow type impulse turbine is most dominantly used in PLTMH, followed by the Pelton type. Other turbine types such as Francis, Vortex, Archimedes Screw, and undershot are used less frequently. The publication trend peaked in 2020, then declined moderately in the following years. As of May 2024, there are no new studies, indicating a change in focus or a decline in interest.

Abstract

Efficient energy management in Internet of Things (IoT) devices is critical in dynamic, resource-constrained operational environments. This study proposes the Queen Honey Bee Migration (QHBM) optimization algorithm for managing Li-ion battery performance in IoT systems, employing the Shepherd battery model to simulate the nonlinear discharge behavior under varying load conditions. Three simulation scenarios of increasing complexity (5, 10, and 20 monitoring points) are used to represent urban operational dynamics. The performance of QHBM is quantitatively compared with four conventional optimization algorithms seperti Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Differential Evolution (DE), Genetic Algorithm (GA), and Firefly Algorithm (FA). Results show that QHBM maintains a current range of 3.80–5.20 A and a voltage range of 3.65–3.95 V, with State of Charge (SoC) predictions between 75–98%. It also achieves the fastest computation time (0.42–1.20 seconds) and demonstrates more stable performance under high-load dynamic scenarios compared to the other methods. This approach provides an adaptive and efficient optimization framework to support energy-aware decision-making in IoT systems operating in energy-constrained urban environments.

Abstract

The teacher professional education program requires prospective physics teachers to demonstrate integrated academic, pedagogical, social, and personal competencies. However, current evaluation practices remain dominated by traditional multiple-choice tests that primarily assess lower-order cognitive skills and fail to capture critical thinking, problem-solving, and reflective abilities. This study aims to develop a problem-based professional competency test designed to predict the academic success of the teacher professional education program students in physics. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a modified Borg & Gall model, covering needs analysis, design, expert validation, pilot testing, revisions, and field trials. The participants were 57 physics students of the teacher professional education program on universitas in Malang at 2025. The initial instrument consisted of 35 items, which were refined to 25 valid items through rigorous analysis of validity, reliability, item difficulty, discrimination power, and distractor effectiveness. Findings revealed that all 25 items were valid, with an instrument reliability coefficient of 0.788. The distribution of item difficulty was dominated by easy to moderate levels, ensuring a balanced measurement range. These results highlight that a problem-based professional competency test can serve as a valid, reliable, and contextually relevant evaluation tool. It not only aligns with the demands of higher-order thinking but also reflects the pedagogical readiness required of future physics teachers.
