Abstract

Education is a key driver in cultivating a skilled generation, providing innovative STEM learning to enhance future prospects. This research analysed the effect of STEM project-based Learning in optical instrument topics on students' attitudes and perception towards STEM. Conducted through a quasi-experimental method, the research drew its sample from 8th-grade students in a junior high school in Bandung, Indonesia, evenly split between control (n=30) and experimental (n=30) classes. The control class is taught by project-based learning, while STEM PJBL taught to the experimental class. The result of this study was an N-Gain of students' attitudes towards STEM in experimental class showed a 0.11, which is still categorized as low enhancement. The T-test result (asymp. sig. (2-tailed) = 0.54) also shows no significant difference between the control and experimental classes. Furthermore, engineering and technology are favored STEM subscale, seen as fostering creativity subscale, followed by science, which students' enjoy most of science with no counting lesson, However, most students hold a negative view of mathematics subscale due to the complexity of formulas provided in the lesson. Based on this research, STEM-PJBL should be applied in creative, innovative, and consistent ways within the science class to get a higher shift in students' attitudes.

Abstract

The main objective of this study is to develop spark ignition engine parameters that allow complete combustion while reducing dependence on fossil fuels. To achieve this goal, optimization of compression ratio, gasoline-ethanol mixture, ignition timing, and spark plug type was used. In addition, this study used water injection that continuously injects water before the intake manifold. In this study, the Taguchi method with the L9 orthogonal array was applied. According to the experimental verification results, the best combination to reduce exhaust emission levels is to utilize gasoline-ethanol (E70), a compression ratio (CR) of 15.6:1, an ignition degree of +4°, and a platinum spark plug. Meanwhile, the presence of water injection at 1.45 ml/s helps reduce vehicle exhaust pollutants.

Abstract

Perencanaan bangunan hijau harus memperhatikan penggunaan sumber daya alam seperti perencanaan dan pemilihan material. Kurangnya perhatian terhadap sumber dan siklus material yang ramah lingkungan mengakibatkan kerusakan lingkungan dan krisis sumber daya alam. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu melakukan kajian penilaian sumber dan siklus material (MRC) berdasarkan Greenship New Building versi 1.2 pada bangunan baru gedung Sekolah Dasar X di Jakarta Selatan, Indonesia. Metode yang diterapkan adalah analisis deskriptif berdasarkan data yang telah terkumpul. Langkah-langkah yang dilakukan adalah melakukan wawancara dan observasi terhadap material yang digunakan. Selanjutnya melakukan penilaian mengacu pada tolak ukur masing-masing kriteria, terdapat 1 kriteria prasyarat, dan 6 kriteria penilaian. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa MRC gedung Sekolah Dasar X berdasarkan Greenship New Building versi 1.2 yaitu terpenuhi poin prasyarat refrigeran fundamental, poin MRC 1 tidak terpenuhi, Poin MRC 2 (material ramah lingkungan), Poin MRC 3 (penggunaan refrigeran tanpa ODP) terpenuhi pada tolok ukur pertama, Poin MRC 4 (kayu bersertifikat) hanya pada tolok ukur pertama, dan poin MRC 6 terpenuhi karena semua bahan yang digunakan dibeli dari toko bangunan terdekat yang berjarak sekitar 120 m. Oleh karena itu penilaian sumber dan siklus material gedung baru Sekolah Dasar di Jakarta Selatan berdasarkan Greenship New Building versi 1.2 mendapatkan 43% yaitu 6 dari 14 poin maksimal.

Abstract

In the six years from 2010 to 2015, the peak load in the East Java region increased by an average of 284MW per year. Karangkates Substation is part of an interconnected electrical system that supplies Java Island. To ensure a high level of reliability in its service, it is necessary to prepare for load growth to make sure that it does not exceed its ideal conditions, therefore special analysis of transformer capacity is needed. Using the Holt-Winters (HW) method as a reference for processing the data can be used as a reference in planning and anticipating the growing electricity demand. The results of this study are with the accuracy of the HW method with mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) = 2.645%, while the accuracy of the fuzzy time series (FTS) method = 6.399%. A forecast result done with HW methods shows the transformer at the substation Karangkates reached its normal working capacity in March 2018 at 99.583% of installed capacity and exceeded the maximum capacity in April 2018 at 101.493% of installed capacity.

Abstract

Abstract: In Krobokan Village, West Semarang, there is a Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Association (MSMEs)”AKU BISA”. This asssociation accommodates approximately 50 MSMEs with various types of productss produced, including culinary to handycraft. The problem faced by this association is that their business has not developed since at was pioneered until now. This is due to the lack of understanding of entrepreurship and the lack of entrepreneurial spirit. The purpose of Community Service is to provide knowledge about entrepreneurship and motivate MSMEs to be more enthusiastic in running their businesses. The method of implementing community service activities is the lecture and discussion method. Meamwhile, the implementation of community service activities in March – May 2024. After the counseling was carried out, there was an increase in knowledge and understanding of entrepreneurship among the participants, understanding and understanding the success factors of a business and there was a positive change in behavior, namely being more enthusiastic in entrepreneurship.   Keywords: Entrepreneurship, Motivation, Counselling, Skills technology

Abstract

The depletion of fossil fuels has driven significant changes in the global electricity system. Solar Power Plants (PLTS) as a renewable energy source have shown the potential to contribute up to 25% of global electricity generation by 2050. The electricity system often experiences disturbances that can affect its performance and reliability. This study examines the performance of a 1.2 kW hybrid PV system under various load conditions. The system was tested with load variations of 2%, 7%, 22%, and 26% to assess its efficiency and performance. Despite a slight voltage drop of 4V Vac (-1.82%) at higher loads, the hybrid PV system consistently maintained a voltage range of 216-220V Vac, which meets the standard requirements. The system demonstrated high efficiency, averaging over 95%, with a peak efficiency reaching 98.5% at 2% load. These results confirm the effectiveness, safety, and reliability of the system under various load conditions. The findings are based on direct testing and measurements of a 1.2 kW hybrid PV system to evaluate the impact of load variations on its performance. The 1.2 kW hybrid PV system has been proven to be effective, safe and reliable in the face of load variations. These findings support the potential implementation of hybrid PV systems as a future renewable energy solution in the electricity sector

Abstract

Penelitian groundbreaking ini membedah faktor-faktor kritis yang mempengaruhi kepuasan nasabah di industri asuransi, dengan fokus khusus pada PT. Zurich Asuransi Indonesia Region Jawa Tengah. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengkaji bagaimana aspek-aspek kualitas pelayanan, yang meliputi dimensi tangibilitas dan responsivitas, mempengaruhi tingkat kepuasan pelanggan. Lebih lanjut, studi ini juga menginvestigasi peran signifikan electronic Word-of-Mouth (e-WOM) sebagai variabel moderasi yang dapat memperkuat hubungan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan pendekatan positivisme, menggunakan sampel acak dan kuesioner skala Likert sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data. Analisis dilakukan melalui Moderated Regression Analysis dan Partial Least Square untuk menguji hubungan antar variabel, termasuk kualitas pelayanan, kepuasan pelanggan, dan e-WoM. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tangible dan responsiveness memiliki pengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan pelanggan. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa e-WOM berperan sebagai variabel moderasi yang memperkuat pengaruh kualitas produk terhadap kepuasan pelanggan. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi manajerial yang signifikan bagi perusahaan asuransi, yaitu perlunya merancang strategi pemasaran yang lebih efektif dengan memanfaatkan kekuatan e-WOM di era digital saat ini. This groundbreaking study examines critical factors influencing customer satisfaction in the insurance industry, with a specific focus on PT Zurich Asuransi Indonesia in the Central Java region. The research aims to delve deeply into how aspects of service quality, including the dimensions of tangibility and responsiveness, impact customer satisfaction levels. Furthermore, the study investigates the significant role of electronic Word-of-Mouth (e-WOM) as a moderating variable that can strengthen this relationship. A quantitative method with a positivist approach was employed, using random sampling and Likert-scale questionnaires as data collection instruments. The analysis was conducted through Moderated Regression Analysis and Partial Least Squares to examine the relationships among variables, including service quality, customer satisfaction, and e-WOM. The findings reveal that tangibility and responsiveness have a positive and significant impact on customer satisfaction. Additionally, e-WOM acts as a moderating variable, enhancing the influence of product quality on customer satisfaction. These findings offer significant managerial implications for insurance companies, highlighting the need to design more effective marketing strategies that leverage the power of e-WOM in today’s digital era.

Abstract

The dyadic essay involves students working in pairs to create essay prompts and corresponding model answers, exchanging these prompts, and then comparing their responses to the model solutions. This study aims to explore the significant difference in students' writing proficiency achieved through the implementation of the dyadic essay technique among first-grade students at Islamic Senior High School 2 Karanganyar. This investigation utilized an Experimental research design and was conducted at Islamic Senior High School 2 Karanganyar, where data was gathered from first-grade students in SCIENCE 1 and SCIENCE 2. First-grade of SCIENCE 1 served as the experimental group while first-grade of SCIENCE 2 served as the control group, totaling 59 students. Data collection involved administering tests, and analysis was conducted using the T-test formula. The results of the study indicate that students instructed through the Dyadic Essay Technique demonstrated significantly higher writing skills compared to those taught through Classroom Discussion. The mean writing score of students taught with the Dyadic Essay (75.24) exceeded that of students taught through Classroom Discussion (67.50), suggesting enhanced descriptive writing skills among the former. In conclusion, the Dyadic Essay Technique proves to be effective in teaching writing, facilitating a smoother teaching and learning process, enhancing students' descriptive writing abilities, fostering creativity in essay composition, and enabling students to better express their thoughts and emotions in writing.

Abstract

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a photocatalyst material widely used for environmental remediation applications. In this research, TiO2 material was synthesized using the hydrothermal method at various temperatures (150°C, 180°C, and 200°C). Based on the Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) data, it was found that all the synthesized materials showed similar absorption peaks, and Ti-O-Ti bonds were detected, which is a characteristic of TiO2. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis showed that all the synthesized materials were TiO2 anatase with different crystalline sizes. The synthesized TiO2 using the hydrothermal temperature of 180°C showed the smallest crystalline size of 86.81 nm. Based on the analysis of the band gap energy, it was found that wider band gap energy was obtained at higher hydrothermal temperatures. The band gap energies of the synthesized materials are 3.18 eV, 3.19 eV, and 3.21 eV for hydrothermal temperatures of 150°C, 180°C, and 200°C, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the three synthesized materials was tested in the photodegradation experiment of amoxicillin under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. As a result, it was found that TiO2 synthesized at 180°C has the highest photocatalytic activity by degrading 100% of amoxicillin compounds within 120 minutes.

Abstract

This community service program aims to apply appropriate technology in the form of a banana rambak automatic draining machine (Spinner) to increase the business productivity of banana rambak business actors in Wonoagung Village, Kasembon District, Malang Regency. The banana rambak automatic oil draining machine (Spinner) was designed because business actors get a problem in the production process, especially in the process of draining business actors still use traditional techniques, namely placed in a container and given a paper base and then aerated. Thus, business actors must take a long time in the process of draining the oil in banana rambak. This can hinder productivity for banana rambak business actors so that banana rambak products have low quality. The application of the spinner machine aims to facilitate and accelerate the business actors belonging to the Kartika Kencana MSME in producing banana rambak. Thus, business actors have quality productivity and can increase productivity, especially banana rambak processing.
