Abstract

The quality of life of individuals and groups plays an important role in building harmonious social relationships through the principles of peace psychology implemented in peace education and realized in peace counseling. However, most peace counseling models still focus on technical and practical aspects, while their ontological, epistemological, and axiological philosophical foundations have not been studied in depth. This theoretical gap has the potential to weaken the scientific foundation and direction of peace counseling intervention development. Therefore, this study aims to examine various peace counseling models from a philosophical perspective as a basis for strengthening counseling theory and practice. The research method used is a literature study of books and journal articles related to peace counseling published between 2019–2025. Data analysis was conducted using qualitative analysis techniques through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that the peace counseling model developed by experts is based on four main counseling philosophies: humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, spiritual, and multicultural. Ontologically, humans are understood as religious, rational, social, and cultural beings who have the potential for both conflict and peace. Epistemologically, knowledge about peace is built through the integration of cognitive-behavioral change, self-awareness, spiritual values, and local wisdom. Axiologically, peace counseling is oriented towards the formation of peaceful, tolerant, compassionate individuals who are capable of building social harmony. Although this philosophy has not been fully studied by model developers, this novelty reveals that spiritual philosophy can be integrated with all guidance and counseling philosophies. Therefore, it is hoped that in the future, counseling model developers will pay attention to philosophical studies as the root of theory and practice.

Abstract

This quantitative study aimed to examine the influence of Gratitude and Forgiveness on Resilience among Muslim students in Yogyakarta. This issue is important given the high stressors faced by students and the need to identify protective factors. The study involved 331 Muslim students who completed the Gratitude Questionnaire-Six Item Form (GQ-6), the Heartland Forgiveness Scale (HFS), and the 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-10). Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that Gratitude, both simultaneously and partially, had a significant and positive influence on Resilience. Together, the two variables explained 22.2% of the variability in Resilience. Interestingly, Forgiveness exhibited a slightly greater predictive power compared to Gratitude, a theoretical contribution that suggests the vital role of religious values within the subjects' cultural context. Although this finding enriches the study of positive psychology in Indonesia, the limitation of the cross-sectional design prevents the establishment of causality. Practically, the findings recommend that Guidance and Counseling services design interventions focused on Gratitude training (gratitude journaling) and Forgiveness (self-forgiveness and conflict resolution) as an applied strategy to enhance students' psychological adaptation and resilience.

Abstract

Inclusive education requires a supportive learning environment that enables students with special needs to participate, develop, and achieve optimal educational outcomes. Social support from teachers, peers, families, school counselors, and policymakers plays a critical role in strengthening students’ academic adjustment, self-efficacy, social interaction, and psychological well-being. This study aimed to identify, analyze, and synthesize previous research on social support for students with special needs in inclusive schools. A systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA framework to guide the identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion of relevant studies. Articles were retrieved from Google Scholar and selected based on relevance to the topic, publication period, and suitability for the research objectives. The final review included 17 relevant studies published between 2020 and 2025. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing through critical extraction and comparison of research findings. The results indicate that social support is a key predictor of successful inclusive education. Comprehensive support from teachers, peers, and families contributes to improved learning outcomes, self-efficacy, social skills, learning motivation, academic achievement, and psychological well-being among students with special needs. Inclusive school environments also help reduce social anxiety and foster empathy, acceptance, and positive interaction between students with special needs and regular students. These findings highlight the importance of systematic, structured, and collaborative efforts involving subject teachers, guidance and counseling teachers, school policymakers, peers, and families. This study implies that inclusive schools need to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and develop sustainable support systems to create friendly, responsive, and equitable learning environments for students with diverse needs.

Abstract

Throughout the rehabilitation program, addicted clients are assisted by addiction counselors to develop a peaceful mindset to aid recovery. However, addicted clients experience cognitive and psychological difficulties as the factual and theoretical gaps related to the formation of a peaceful mindset with two aspects (inner peace and internal harmony). So, this study aims to analyze the peaceful mindset profile of addiction clients, including inner peace and internal harmony, as important aspects of the psychological, spiritual, and social recovery process. A comparative design on 112 addiction clients from three rehabilitation institutions in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Measurements using the peace mindset scale (which has validity and reliability). Data analysis using descriptive statistics and ANOVA. Peaceful mindset of addiction clients through two aspects (inner peace and internal harmony) at various rehabilitation locations. The results of the peaceful mindset categorization show that there are addiction counseling clients in the low and very low categories who require intensive assistance. The ANOVA test revealed significant differences between locations with F=118.288 (p=0.000) for inner peace and F=129.049 (p=0.000) for internal harmony. A comparison between locations shows that drug rehabilitation in rehabilitation centers has a significantly lower peaceful mindset score than both prisons, while the two prisons show no significant difference. These findings confirm that program structure, intensity of assistance, and quality of psychospiritual counseling by the counselor have an important influence on the inner stability of addiction clients. Developing a spiritual counseling model could improve the inner peace and harmony of addiction clients.

Abstract

Drug addiction negatively impacts individuals’ quality of life, particularly in terms of spiritual well-being, creating a gap between empirical conditions and the ideal expectation of religious closeness. This gap increases the risk of relapse and highlights the urgency of counseling services that integrate not only cognitive and behavioral aspects but also spirituality, which is often neglected in current approaches. This study aims to develop and validate a Cognitive Behavioral Spiritual (CBT-S) counseling model to enhance the spiritual well-being of clients with addictions. This research employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Participants included 117 drug-addicted clients to assess spiritual well-being, along with three experts and five addiction counseling practitioners involved in the validation process. Data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods and interrater reliability through Cohen’s Kappa. The findings indicate that clients’ spiritual well-being remains in low to moderate categories, forming the basis for developing the CBT-S model. The results show that the CBT-S counseling model is feasible and reliable for improving spiritual well-being. The model offers a novel framework with stages of Al-Aajis, Al-Khathir, Hadith An-Nafs, Al-Hamm, and Al-‘Azm, integrating spiritual values by involving God throughout the counseling process.

Abstract

This study examines the psychological well-being of the Kalitanjung indigenous community, a Kejawen (Javanese spirituality) group that adheres to the Serat Menyuri teachings. Qualitative phenomenological approach involving three respondents who are practitioners of the Serat Menyuri teachings. Data were collected through focus group discussions, supplemented by literature reviews and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using thematic methods, supported by Quirkos software. The results show that the psychological well-being of this community isn't rooted in individuality, but rather in a deep sense of connectedness and communal awareness as the foundation for the emergence of psychological well-being. Aspects of psychological well-being are manifested through strong social cohesion so that autonomy is understood as the ability to build social networks, and environmental mastery is reflected in the structured distribution of roles. Interpersonal relationships are built on trust and openness, while environmental mastery is associated with a shared mindset to seek peace in old age. Life goals and personal growth are collective, focused on preserving traditions and emotional support among members. Novelty from this study about social cohesion, structured roles, and collective goals forms the main foundations that enable this community to remain resilient, both psychologically and as the foundation of Islamic counseling.

Abstract

Drug addiction is a problem for addicted clients who need help recovering from addiction counselors. However, the challenges of resilience to recovery in the outpatient rehabilitation process are caused by social stress and the lack of meaning in life. Therefore, the research objective was to explore the challenges of resilience in recovery from drug addiction from the perspective of addiction counselors. A descriptive phenomenological design was used, supported by in-depth interviews with two professional addiction counselors. Interviews were conducted in three comprehensive data collection sessions, which were then analyzed using qualitative descriptive techniques for data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The research findings indicate that outpatient rehabilitation plays a crucial role in shaping the resilience of addicted clients, along with the role of addiction counselors. The growth of resilience is not only seen in the cessation of drug-use behavior but also in emotional, cognitive, spiritual, and social changes. There are seven ways to foster resilience in addicted clients, including more stable emotional management, religious coping, relapse prevention, future orientation, adaptive coping strategies, positive social relationships, and a positive self-concept. Family support, spirituality, the rehabilitation environment, and addiction counseling are important factors in strengthening resilience and sustaining recovery. The novelty of this research lies in the discovery of seven strategies for fostering resilience in drug-addicted clients: emotional management, relapse prevention, future orientation, adaptive coping strategies, positive social relationships, positive self-concept, and healthy lifestyle changes. These findings underscore the importance of integrating a spirituality-based counseling approach in drug addiction rehabilitation.
