Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the strategic management of the student organization in enhancing discipline at Al-Kautsar Integrated Islamic Boarding School, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive analytical approach, involving in-depth interviews with the organization’s supervisor, the chairman, and documentation related to the organization’s programs. The results indicate that the strategic management of the student organization operates effectively through four main processes: planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision. Planning includes the formulation of vision and mission, disciplinary regulations, sanction guidelines, and a structured activity schedule. Organizing involves establishing the organizational structure, assigning tasks based on students’ interests and competencies, and direct guidance from the organization supervisor. Implementation focuses on habituating disciplined behavior through role modeling, regular briefings, habituation and assignment, as well as motivation provision. Supervision is conducted through direct and indirect monitoring, routine weekly and monthly evaluations, and accountability reporting at the end of the term. The implications of this study suggest that the application of strategic management can consistently improve student discipline, create an orderly and conducive pesantren environment, and serve as a model for student organization governance implementation in other pesantrens across Indonesia.

Abstract

Student attendance is considered one of the important indicators of the success of the learning process in schools. A decline in attendance can affect academic achievement, discipline, and students' social development. This study aims to describe the school's strategies to improve student attendance at SMA Nurul Khoir Jambi. The study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects include the principal, classroom teachers, students, and parents who were selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation, while data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana with source documentation to ensure data validity. The research results indicate that low student attendance is influenced by internal factors of the students, pedagogical factors, as well as external factors related to parental involvement. The strategies implemented by the school include daily attendance monitoring, guidance through individual counseling, the application of positive discipline, and enhancing communication and collaboration with parents. Teachers, especially those responsible for the class, play an important role in early detection and student support, while the principal is involved in subsequent policy-making. The study concludes that collaborative, humanistic, and sustainable strategies can gradually improve student attendance

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to explore students’ perceptions of the implementation of school rules at SMP Islam Al-Azhar 57 Jambi. The research is motivated by the importance of school regulations in maintaining order and creating a conducive learning environment, while also addressing various behavioral challenges among adolescents. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, involving students who had direct experience with the application of school rules. The findings indicate that most students consider the rules to be clearly formulated, easy to understand, and consistently enforced by teachers. However, students’ compliance varies, particularly regarding dress code regulations such as wearing headscarves, the length of socks, and haircut requirements, which some students find uncomfortable. Despite certain rules being perceived as strict, students acknowledge the benefits of school regulations, as they encourage discipline and contribute to a more orderly learning environment. Most students believe the existing rules are appropriate, with only a few suggesting minor adjustments. Overall, the implementation of school rules is considered effective, though further efforts are needed to strengthen students’ sense of responsibility to ensure optimal adherence. Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of interactive learning media in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) learning at Grade VIII of SMP Negeri 3 Sarolangun. The research was motivated by the dominance of conventional, teacher-centered instructional practices that resulted in low student motivation, limited participation, and inadequate understanding of abstract religious concepts. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research involved Islamic Religious Education teachers, students, and school administrators as research participants. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using interactive data analysis techniques consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the use of interactive learning media such as interactive videos, digital quizzes, and multimedia presentations contributed positively to students’ learning experiences. The implementation of interactive media enhanced students’ motivation, increased active participation, and improved their understanding of Islamic Religious Education materials. Students demonstrated higher engagement during learning activities and showed greater interest in exploring religious concepts when learning was supported by interactive digital media. Teachers also perceived interactive media as an effective tool for presenting abstract and normative religious content in a more concrete and meaningful manner. However, several challenges were identified, including limited technological facilities, varying levels of teachers’ digital competence, and time constraints in lesson preparation. Overall, this study concludes that interactive learning media are effective in improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning when supported by adequate infrastructure and teachers’ pedagogical readiness. The findings suggest that schools and educators should strengthen the integration of interactive media in religious instruction to create more engaging, student-centered, and meaningful learning environments.
