Abstract

Global environmental crises, driven by unsustainable economic practices, highlight the urgent need for a transition toward a green economy. Education plays a crucial role in this transition by fostering green behavior among the younger generation. However, a significant gap exists in the availability of specific teaching materials that integrate green economy concepts into the economics curriculum within a local context. This study addresses that gap by developing and testing a digital-based Green Economy Module for 10th-grade students in an environmentally vulnerable region. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, this study created a learning module that underwent rigorous validation by content, language, and graphics experts, achieving a "very feasible" rating (94.40%). The module's practicality was confirmed with a "very practical" rating from students (97.2%). A quasi-experimental design was used to measure effectiveness. The results showed that the module is significantly more effective than conventional methods in enhancing students' cognitive understanding. Furthermore, the module was found to be effective in shaping students' green behavior, raising the overall average from 59.6% to 70.6%. The findings confirm that a digital-based Green Economy Module, when developed with a contextual approach, can be an innovative and effective solution for improving student understanding and fostering sustainable behavior.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in consumption habits and irrational consumption, which also exhibit a strong tendency towards family economic education (FEE) in shaping student economic behavior and economic irrationality (IR). The novelty of this study lies in the exploration of the relationship between FEE and students’ economic behavior mediated by basic economic (BE) understanding, which is still under-explored in the context of economic education in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative approach with structural equation modeling (SEM). A total of 385 students of economics or economic education study programs are spread across 38 provinces in Indonesia. The finding of the research indicate that FEE has a significant but relatively weak positive effect on students’ BE understanding. In addition, FEE directly increases students’ irrationality, as well as BE understanding, which also turns out to contribute positively to such irrational behavior. This finding implicitly shows that the delivery of intensive FEE information does not always have a positive impact but can actually strengthen IR in students. Thus, this study emphasizes the need for a more careful and selective approach in FEE to reduce students’ irrational behavior.

Abstract

Macroeconomic stability is a vital foundation for sustained economic growth; however, the mechanisms by which economic education influences aggregate stability have not been fully mapped. This study aims to examine the influence of economic education on macroeconomic stability, with financial literacy as a mediating variable and digital financial inclusion as a moderating variable. Employing a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 400 respondents of productive age in Indonesia through structured online surveys (September-November 2025). Data analysis utilised Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modelling with SmartPLS 4.0. Results demonstrate that economic education positively and significantly influences macroeconomic stability (β=0.215, p=0.001). Financial literacy was partially confirmed to mediate this relationship (β=0.340, p<0.001), functioning as a crucial transmission mechanism through risk management, savings, and policy channels. Furthermore, digital financial inclusion was found to moderate positively (β=0.185, p=0.004), strengthening the impact of financial literacy on economic stability; higher digital access accelerates the effectiveness of prudent financial decision-making. These findings extend Human Capital Theory by demonstrating that the impact of economic education transcends individual productivity to encompass the resilience of the national economic system. Practically, the research recommends integrating financial life-skills curricula and digital inclusion policies accompanied by educational verification to mitigate systemic risks, particularly in emerging markets such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Banjararum Village in Tuban Regency, East Java, has a variety of good economic potential, unfortunately it has not been utilized optimally and is reflected in the high percentage of poor people at 30%, which is the main problem in this research. An ideal example is Karangtinoto Village in Tuban Regency which has successfully produced 7,780 tons of rice in one harvest and the rapid development of local businesses. This success is partly due to optimal training of farmers and entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, these efforts have not been evenly implemented, including in the neighboring village of Banjararum, causing massive economic inequality between the two. The aim of the research itself is to identify the village's economic potential, the role and economic impact of education in society. This research uses a qualitative phenomenology. Data collecting method were using interview, observation and questionnaire techniques, given to key informants, namely five residents with different professions to represent the economic conditions of Banjararum Village. The data analysis technique used is analysis using the Miles & Hubberman framework and triangulation. From this, the results obtained are that in the agricultural sector changes are needed in the form of training to optimize agricultural products according to the capacity of residents, while from the local business side, training is needed that focuses on the craft sector and street businesses to advance the village economy which is not yet running well. Keywords: Economics of education, Village potential, Phenomenology, Village economy

Abstract

This study developed an economics e-module aligned with Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to respond to the urgent need for innovative learning resources that foster students’ critical thinking in facing sustainability challenges. The e-module was designed using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), created with Canva, and presented in flipbook format via Heyzine. Findings confirmed a significant advancement in students’ critical thinking skills, with a Paired Sample t-Test result of Sig. (2-tailed) < 0.001 and an Independent Sample t-Test result of 0.040. The experimental class attained higher mean N-Gain score (0.64, moderate) contrasted to the control class (0.53). Students also rated the e-module very positively (90%, excellent). These results reveal that the ESD-based economics e-module is practical, effective, and contributes to the enhancement of high school students’ critical thinking abilities.
