Abstract

Kata Kunci: pengetahuan, kecerdasan emosi, sosial ekonomi dan dukungan keluarga, pasien skizofrenia ABSTRACT According to data from 33 Psychiatric Hospital in Indonesia of 2013, the mental disorder patients reach 2.5 millions where 40% experienced heavy mental disorder (Health Ministry, 2013). Several researchers showed  that one of causal factor for the recurrence  of the patients  the family members who do not know how to handle schizophrenia in home. This research aims to explain factors relation with the Family Support in Caring Schizophrenia Patients. The research design was observational analytic with cross sectional approach. The population  were all schizophrenia patient’s family  that accompany the patients in the adult mental polyclinic  of RSJ dr Radjiman Wediodiningrat Lawang and sample was taken by using purposive sampling with sample of 94 respondents. The research instruments were questionnaire which for validity and reliability while the research data  was analyzed using spearman and logistic regression. The research results showed the significant relationship between  family knowledge in caring the schizophrenia patients (r=0.00) and there was significant relationship between emotional intelligence  and family support (r=0.00), and also there was significant relationship between social and economic  with the family support  (r=0.00) in caring the schizophrenia patients (r=0.00).  At the results of logistic regression analysis showed the most dominant  factor was emotional intelligence with coefficient value of 31.287. Factors relation with the family support in caring the schizophrenia patients was  emotional intelligence, knowledge, social economic factors. While the most dominants was emotional intelligence, so it need improvement of consultation service about emotional intelligence to the family so the schizophrenia patients get support in the caring. Keywords: knowledge, emotional intelligence, economic and social status, family support.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease is the most common cause of morbidity and death in the world. Cardiac catheterization is applied to diagnose and treat coronary heart disease. Non-invasive Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) aims to open narrowed coronary blood vessels. The most frequently used vascular installation site is the femoral artery. The PCI procedure has several vascular complications, such as hematoma, which often occur in post-PCI patients. Using sand pillows and cold compresses is one measure to reduce the incidence of hematomas. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of sand pillows and cold compresses in reducing hematomas in post-PCI patients. This study was designed as a scoping review. Article searches were limited to 2019-2024. Search using the Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, and Proquest databases and using advanced search with the keywords "sandbag," "cold pack," "hematoma," and "percutaneous coronary intervention." A total of 45 articles were found, and then by applying the specified inclusion criteria, we found 6 articles. The 6 articles obtained show that using a sand pillow can reduce the duration of compression and speed up the achievement of hemostasis by pressing on the arteries. Meanwhile, using cold compresses and cold packs can cause vasoconstriction of blood vessels, speed up blood clotting time, and form blood clots. It can be concluded that cold compresses are more effective in reducing the incidence of hematomas in post-PCI patients compared to using sand pillows.

Abstract

Background: Smokers frequently experience insomnia, a sleep disturbance linked to nicotine’s stimulating properties that negatively impact sleep quality. Non-pharmacological approaches, such as structured physical exercise, have gained attention as alternative interventions for insomnia management. Purpose: The study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of structured physical exercise in reducing insomnia severity among young adult smokers. Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest model and control group. A total of 40 young adult smokers were recruited as participants and proportionally assigned to either the intervention or control group, with 20 individuals in each. The intervention group underwent a structured physical exercise program for four weeks, performed three times per week for 30 minutes per session, while the control group received health education materials. Insomnia severity was measured using ISI (the Insomnia Severity Index). Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for within-group comparisons and the Mann–Whitney U test for between-group differences. Result: The findings revealed a significant reduction in ISI scores within the intervention group, with an average difference of 4.40 (p<0.001), whereas the control group showed a smaller, non-significant reduction of 0.80 (p=0.086). Structured physical exercise proved to be statistically more effective in decreasing insomnia severity compared to health education (p=0.001). Implication: Community nurses can adopt promotive strategies by implementing structured physical exercise interventions to effectively reduce insomnia severity among young adult smokers. This non-pharmacological approach can be systematically integrated into public health programs to support improved sleep quality and overall health outcomes.
