Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with rational emotive behavior therapy approach to increase self-esteem and reducing online gaming addiction. This study design using non-equivalent control group pre-test – post-test design. Purposive sampling technique is used to select 14 students as research subjects. Each 7 students are placed in the experimental group and a control group so that the two groups had the same initial conditions. MANOVA test results showed that group counseling rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem (F3.10= 24.237; p < 0.01) and reducing online gaming addiction (F3.10=29.756; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Wilcoxon test results showed that the experimental group an increase in self-esteem (z = -2.371; p < 0.05), and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -2.375; P <0.05) were significant. While the control group an increase in self-esteem (z =-.175; p > 0.05) and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -1.342; p > 0.05) did not occur significantly. The findings of this study confirms that counseling group with rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem and lower addicted to online games.

Abstract

This research was design to examine and analyze the effectiveness of reality group counseling to increase emotional intelligence and happiness of students. This study used a pre-test – post-test control group design. The purposive sampling technique was used to select 14 students as experimental subjects placed randomly into two groups so that each group consisted of seven students. The MANOVA test results showed that reality group counseling is effective in increasing emotional intelligence (F(3.10) = 106.453; ηp2 = 0.939; p < 0.01) and happiness (F(3.10) = 261.248; ηp2 = 0.969; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Paired Sample t-test results showed that in the experimental group there was an increase in emotional intelligence (t = t(3.10) = 16.051; p < 0.01) and happiness t(3.10) = 29.289, p < 0.01) The control group showed no significant increase in the level of emotional intelligence t(3.10) = 2.750, p > 0.05) and happiness t(3.10) = 2.066,                p > 0.05). The findings of this study conveyed that the reality group counseling is effective in increasing emotional intelligence and happiness.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to identify and analyze the prediction effects of perfectionism on the career decision self-efficacy and career indecision, career decision self-efficacy on the career indecision and the mediating effect of career decision self-efficacy on the relationship between perfectionism and career indecision. The sample involved 369 high school students selected using random cluster sampling. The research method used is a structural equation model. The results showed that self-oriented perfectionism positively predicted career decision self-efficacy while socially prescribed perfectionism negatively predicted career decision self-efficacy, as well as career decision self-efficacy to predict career indecision. Also, career decision self-efficacy has a mediating effect on the relationship of perfectionism with career indecisions. The implications of the findings of this study are discussed in the article.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to prove whether there was an influence of group counseling by using shame attacking exercise to increase the students’ courage in expressing opinion in class VIII B SMP Negeri 5 Taman Pemalang. The type of this research was experimental research with pre-experimental research design. The subject of this research was 7 students of class VIII B. The data collection instrument used were psychological scale and wilcoxon test analysis. The result of the research showed that there was a change of the students’ courage in expressing opinion in before and after the group counseling, changed from  moderate to high category. Although this research showed there was a change from the students, if it was seen from each its indicator, there was an aspect that had low changing level.  It can be concluded that there was an influence of group counseling by using shame attacking exercise to increase the students’ courage in expressing opinion in class VIII B SMP Negeri 5 Taman Pemalang. Terdapat peningkatan pemahaman praktik teknik konseling realita sebanyak 3.5%. Abstract
