Abstract

Melon cultivation can be planted either conventionally or hydroponically (without soil). Along with the narrowing of productive agricultural land and decreasing soil quality,it encourages farmers to cultivate melons with a hydroponic system. There are various kinds of hydroponic media using inorganic fertilizers for melon cultivation, but it is still rarely found using organic fertilizers for hydroponic melon cultivation. This study developed a soilless cultivation system using vermicompost organic fertilizer. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of vermicompost application method and dosage on the growth and yield of melon plants which are planted hydraulically. This experiment used a factorial randomized block design with controls. Factor 1 of the vermicompost application method consists of two levels, namely M1 = 100% solid vermicompost immersed, M2 = 50% solid vermicompost immersed and 50% vermicompost thawed. Factor 2 doses of vermicompost consist of four levels, namely V1 = 200 grams, V2 = 400 grams, V3 = 600 grams, and V4 = 800 grams per polybag, plus control treatment using inorganic fertilizers. The results showed that the interaction between the application method and vermicompost dose significantly affected the growth and yield of melons. The best treatment combination is the application of 100% solid vermicompost at a dose of 800 g / polybag with plant height growth of 173.94 cm, number of leaves 25.33, and leaf area 2445.51 cm2. The results were achieved for fruit weights 601.11 g / plant and fruit diameter 10.19 cm / plant. The results of this study suggest that the application of 100% solid vermicompost can be used as a nutrient source in the cultivation of hydro-organic melon plants.

Abstract

Hydroganic is a hydroponic planting system that uses organic fertilizers, one of which is vermicompost, which is a high-quality organic fertilizer derived from an overhaul of organic material by earthworms that contain high enough nutrients so that it can provide residual effects on subsequent plants. This study aims to determine how long the effect of vermicompost residue can provide optimum productivity in hydroganic media. The experiment was carried out using a factorial randomized block design (RCBD) with control using 2 factors. The first factor is the vermicompost application method (100% solid vermicompost, 50% solid vermicompost 50% liquid vermicompost, 100% liquid vermicompost) and the second factor is a vermicompost dose of 100-500 g / polybag. The parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight of plantations, fresh weight per plant, dry weight per plant, dry weight per plant. the results of this study showed that the best yield was in the M1V4 treatment (100% solid Vermicompost at a dose of 400 g / polybag) with an average yield of fresh weight per polybag 178.27 g (first planting period). There was a decrease in production over the three planting periods in M1 treatment production decreased by 25.29% (residual effect 1), 36.05% (residual effect 3), and 52.22% (third residual effect). In the M2 treatment, it was 4.40% (residual effect 1), 23.44% (residual effect 2), and 26.82% (residual effect 3) and in M3 treatment there was a decrease of 19.19% (residual effect 1), 28.19 (residual effect 2), and 41.98 (residual effect 3).

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the direct and residual effects of vermicompost in the second planting period on the growth and yield of red lettuce with a soilless cultivation system. The research was conducted in a greenhouse which is located at Jl. MT. Haryono 198, Lowokwaru District, Malang City, East Java. The design used was a randomized block design (RBD) with a total of 6 treatments (control (inorganic treatment), 100, 200, 300, 400, and 500 g/pot of vermicompost) repeated 3 times and each treatment had 4 samples. The results of this study showed that the direct effect and residual effect of vermicompost had a significant effect on growth but a dose of vermicompost lower than 500 g/pot was not able to give the same growth as using inorganic fertilizers. The yield of red lettuce at a dose of 500 g/pot of vermicompost gave the highest yield of red lettuce in the second planting period (vermicompost residue effect). Meanwhile, the increase in total plant fresh weight and fresh weight of marketable yield with the highest value was vermicompost treatment of 400 g/pot with an increase of 34.55%.

Abstract

Red lettuce is one of the leaves that has high selling and nutritional value, causing an increase in demand for vegetables. In addition, the development of landless cultivation is also increasing rapidly due to decreasing natural resources due to environmental degradation, such as uncertain climatic conditions, and declining soil fertility. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer on the growth of red lettuce. This research was conducted in a plastic house on Jl. MT. Haryono, Dinoyo, District Lowokwaru Malang with an altitude of ± 550 meters above sea level, the air temperature ranges from 20  o C - 35 oC. This study consisted of 11 treatments consisting of 5 combinations of vermicompost (100, 200, 300, 400, 500 g/pot) with 2 doses of POC (vermiwash and cow urine) and 1 treatment using AB Mix nutrition (control). The results showed that the application of vermicompost and liquid organic fertilizer V2O1 (200 g/pot Vermicompost + Vermiwash) could increase the growth of red lettuce. The application of vermicompost and organic fertilizer was proven to be able to increase the growth of plant height, number of leaves and leaf area of red lettuce compared to the control (AB Mix inorganic fertilizer).

Abstract

The production of green mustard in Indonesia always increase totally year to year, along with the enhancing consumption of vegetables in the community. Therefore, the alternative hydrogenic cultivation efforts are needed. This study aims to determine the interaction between the dose of vermicompost and the concentration of microbes on the growth and yield of Pagoda mustard (Brassica narinosa). In addition, this study was a pot experiment using a factorial randomized block design (RAK) whereas factor I: vermicompost dose (0, 100, 200, 300 g/pot) and factor II microbial concentration (0. 25, 50 ml/liter). The results of this study showed that no significant interaction between the two factors on plant growth and yield. Other than that, Vermicompost application of 200 g/pot gave the best number of leaves and leaf area of 27.17 pieces and 273.75 cm2, respectively. The harvest consumed is 45.85 g/plant or 0.67 t/ha. Microbial concentration of 50 m/liter gave high yields but was not significantly different from that without microbial application.

Abstract

Hydrogenic cultivation of melons is an alternative to using a narrow area of land, and utilizing organic waste from markets and farms into vermikomos fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer can be a solution to reduce waste while at the same time being a source of nutrition for melon plants that are cultivated hydrogically. This study aims to determine the optimal dose of vermicompost fertilizer and cow urine solution on the growth, yield, and quality of melon plants. The experiment was conducted using a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with control using 2 factors,  factor 1 is the dose of vermicompost which consists of 5 levels: 200, 800, 1200, 1600 and 2000 g/polybag, factor 2 is the concentration of cow urine solution with a concentration of 10% and 20%/liter. Parameters observed were plant length, number of leaves, leaf area, fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit flesh thickness, total dissolved solids. The results showed that V2C1 treatment (vermicompost dose of 800 g/polybag and 10% cow urine organic fertilizer concentration) gave an average plant length of 142.56 cm and number of leaves, with an average of 17.33 strands.

Abstract

Consumption of onion in Indonesia continues to increase from year to year. This is due to the large number of processed industries from these commodities. But on the other hand, the conversion of productive land into non-agricultural land is increasingly widespread. Therefore, it is necessary to have an alternative onion cultivation system using soilless planting media to maintain onion production. This study aimed to determine the interaction between the proportion of growing media containing boiler ash and vermicompost on the growth and yield of onion (Allium ascolonicum L.). The design used is a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) which consists of two factors. The first factor was the proportion of growing media which consists of three levels, namely: M1 = Cocopeat 900 g +Boiler Ash 450 g + Sand 900 g, M2 = Cocopeat 900 g + Boiler Ash 900 g + Sand 450 g, M3 = Cocopeat 750 g + Boiler Ash 750 g + Sand 750 g. The second factor 2 is the dose of vermicompost, consisting of three levels (200, 400, 600 g pot-1). The results of this study indicated that there was a significant interaction effect between the proportion of growing media and the dose of vermicompost on the growth of leaf area and the total dry weight yield of onion plant. In general, the proportion of M1 and M2 growing media gave the same growth rate. Meanwhile, the difference in vermicompost doses gave the growth and yield of onion which were not significantly different. These results also indicate that the use of a low dose of 200 g pot-1 is more efficient than the higher dose.

Abstract

This study aims to examine seven potato germplasm in Indonesia with three comparisons (Granola, Atlantic, and South Sulawesi). It is hoped that the genotypes from the characterization test will fulfill the main requirements for the description of the variety so that the registration of varieties can be carried out in the end. The research was carried out in Jurang Kuali Hamlet, Sumber Brantas Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. This experiment used a simple randomized block design (RAK) with clone treatment consisting of five levels: P1 (PPT6 clone No. 1); P2 (PPT6 clone No.2); P3 (PPT6 clone No.3); P4 (PPT6 clone No.4); P5 (PPT6 clone No.5). Each treatment was repeated 3 times using 3 samples for observation. Variables observed were growth variables which included: plant height, stem diameter, number of stems, number of leaves, and leaf area, tuber length and tuber diameter; and production variables which include: tuber weight per plant, tuber weight per mound, and tuber weight per hectare. Data from the experimental results were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA, F test) with a level of 5% to determine the effect of treatment if there was a significant effect of treatment followed by a further test of BNT with a level of 5%. The results of this study indicated that the best potato crop growth was found in the PPPT6 potato clone No.2 and the PPPT6 potato clone No.5, and the best potato crop yield was found in the PPPT6 potato clone No.2. In plain view, the potato clone PPPT6 No.2 was bigger than the other plants. This is due to the fulfillment of the need for nutrients that can be absorbed directly by the roots of potato plants without spreading and competing with other plants. So it has a good plant height, stem diameter, number of stems, number of leaves, and leaf area. According to Zelelew (2016), taller plants will have more leaf production per plant and will affect the production of photosynthesis.
