Abstract

Background: The gram-negative bacteria Neisseria gonorrhoeae is the source of the STI known as gonorrhea. N. gonorrhoeae can adapt well to humans as a host and become a pathogen with sophisticated mechanisms to avoid the innate immune response as well as suppress the adaptive immune response. Lately, zoliflodacin was shown to have antibacterial activity against N. gonorrhoeae. Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial activity of zoliflodacin against N. gonorrhoeae. Methods: We followed the PRISMA 2020 guidelines to systematically search and collect literature in the following databases: ProQuest, EBSCOhost, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Taylor&Francis, SAGE, JSTOR, and Wiley, without time limitation (until October 9th,  2022). Titles and abstracts were reviewed for relevance. The inclusion criteria were original article written in English that investigated the effects of zoliflodacin in patients with gonorrhea. From 177 studies, we retrieved five studies for this study, published between 2015 and 2021. Results: Zoliflodacin was highly active in vitro against N. gonorrhoeae isolates from European countries, China, Thailand, and South Africa, and also showed potent antimicrobial activity against multi-resistant N. gonorrhoeae isolates in South Korea. There were three different kinds of minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) evaluated, with the following results: modal MIC (0.064-0.25 μg/mL), MIC50 (0.03-0.125 μg/mL), and MIC90 (0.06-0.25 μg/mL). There was no cross-resistance to antimicrobials currently or previously used for gonorrhea treatment. This MIC range could be used for further studies.

Based on the questionnaire results processed using Ms. Excel. The result showed that 71% of students are enthusiastic in speaking class during online learning, and it is categorized as high, referring to the benchmark category by Purwanto (2010). Derived from the interview results, the students mentioned that their enthusiasm depends on internal and external factors that occur during online learning. The internal factors include boredom, lack of sources, and lack of interaction. However, the external factors discovered are lagging, inadequate tools, and unstable signals. In addition, the lecturer also plays a crucial role in making the classroom environment as joyful as it should be. Abstract

While research on digital language learning materials has received lots of attention, there was a scarcity of studies focusing on specific locations, like Sambas in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Located near the border of Indonesia and Malaysia, Sambas has a unique EFL learning environment influenced by its geographical location and diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Understanding students' needs and preferences in local contexts is crucial in designing culturally relevant teaching materials. This study aimed to assess the needs and preferences of students in Sambas and provided valuable insights into optimizing the utilization of digital teaching materials for English language learning. This study employed a survey research design to elicit information about current materials, the student's needs, perceptions, and preferences concerning digital materials in English students' needs and preferences, and technological resources. The participants of this study were first-year students of junior secondary school (20 students) in Sambas. The findings revealed that students need videos, movies, and songs with English subtitles as learning materials. Furthermore, the study might shape future research in developing and implementing digital EFL materials customized to the Sambas' cultural context, including local language, customs, and traditions, and their effectiveness in engaging students and improving English language acquisition.
