The purpose of this research is to give the contribution of Education punishment to students so that increases learning achievement. Participants were 55 students of elementary school from Bandung city, Cirebon regency, and Cirebon city, West Java province. Test and non-test instruments were used through the design of a quasi-experiment with a control group of pretest-posttest nonequivalent. Using a one-way ANOVA as a technical analysis of the data. The results showed that the factor without being given physical punishment was smaller than 0.05 i.e. (0.005). Learning without punishment with physical punishment was smaller than 0.05 i.e. (0.009). Lessons given Written Punishment with physical punishment were higher than 0.05 i.e. (0.953). Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of research analyzed the early reading skills of students in a primary school in term of literacy activities at home. The literature indicates that both in-school and at-home experiences impact children’s reading development, yet most developing world studies focus on children’s in-school experiences exclusively. Whereas in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic literacy activities at home have an important role. In this article, we review the literature on the impact of home literacy environment on primary school student’s early reading skills. After defining the home literacy environment, we present a brief historical overview of the home literacy environment, including persistent questions regarding their effectiveness for early literacy skills, vocabulary, and phonological awareness in primary school students. Meta-analyses reveal that the home literacy environment has a positive effect on early reading skills indicate that they are effective in significantly increasing children’s early literacy skills, vocabulary, and phonological awareness. This finding lends empirical support for the home literacy environment and reading acquisition. We conclude by suggesting implications for practice and future research.

Abstract

Writing is an essential aspect of language learning and for the language skills needs of elementary school students. However, the self-efficacy of elementary school teachers towards teaching writing is known by little. Teachers' self-efficacy towards teaching writing affects their perceptions and judgments, influencing instructional decisions during student learning activities. This study aimed to describe elementary school teachers’ self-efficacy in teaching writing in the classroom. This research was completed by a quantitative approach with a survey method of 13 elementary school teachers. The research’s results indicate that the self-efficacy of elementary school teachers on writing lessons is still not optimal. Almost all teachers (11 out of 13) were at the 61-70% self-efficacy in teaching writing. 1 out of 13 teachers has achieved 60% self-efficacy in learning to write along with the percentage of self-efficacy of elementary school teachers in teaching writing. And only one teacher who has a level of > 70% self-efficacy in learning to write. Changing writing practice in elementary school will require individualized instructional methods to meet student needs as well as the personal assessment of self-efficacy to ensure that beliefs do not hinder the delivery of effective instructional writing practices.
