Abstract

This study examines the strategic role of the publishing sector within the creative economy of Sukoharjo Regency, focusing on its contribution to gross domestic product (GDP) and employment generation from 2019 to 2023. Employing a descriptive qualitative methodology, the research utilized secondary data obtained from official government sources and applied thematic analysis to identify patterns and trends in the sector's economic impact. The findings reveal that the publishing sub-sector makes a positive and significant contribution to the regional GDP while serving as a meaningful source of employment opportunities for local residents. However, the analysis also identifies several critical constraints limiting the sector's growth potential, including limited access to capital financing, insufficient human resource capacity and skills development, and intense competitive pressure from global digital publishing platforms. These challenges hinder the sector's ability to maximize its economic potential and sustainability within the broader creative economy framework. The research suggests that enhancing the competitiveness and long-term viability of the publishing sector requires targeted policy interventions specifically designed to address capital accessibility issues, comprehensive human resource development programs to build industry-specific capabilities, and strengthened collaborative frameworks among key stakeholders including government agencies, educational institutions, and private sector entities. Such strategic approaches would enable the publishing sector to more effectively fulfill its potential as a driver of regional economic development and employment creation in Sukoharjo Regency.

Abstract

This study examines how digital transformation reshapes the competitiveness of the creative economy, with particular reference to the architectural subsector, through the lens of the Resource-Based View (RBV). It adopts a qualitative descriptive approach based on a critical literature review of internationally reputable journals, synthesising conceptual developments, empirical findings, and contemporary scholarly debates. The analysis focuses on three interrelated dimensions: (1) the evolution of architectural creative practices and services in the digital era, (2) the emergence of new creative business models, and (3) strategic approaches to strengthening subsectoral competitiveness. The synthesis indicates that digital transformation within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) ecosystem driven by BIM-enabled workflows, cloud-based collaboration, and data-driven services such as digital twins has prompted a shift in value creation away from project-specific deliverables towards more standardised, replicable, and knowledge intensive creative services. From an RBV perspective, technology alone does not generate competitive advantage. Rather, competitiveness arises when firms effectively orchestrate strategic resources such as creativity, professional experience, digital literacy, reputation, and knowledge assets into organisational capabilities. These capabilities include the standardisation of digital processes, quality control systems, contract and risk governance, and intellectual property management. Such capabilities underpin business model innovation, including the productisation of services, data-driven advisory offerings, and mechanisms for recurring value capture. Collectively, these developments enhance differentiation and enable architectural firms to scale and extend their market reach. Keywords: creative economy; architectural subsector; digital transformation; resource-based view; business model innovation.

Abstract

Indonesia’s fashion industry remains largely shaped by a linear economic model that privileges mass production and rapid consumption, thereby exacerbating textile waste and intensifying environmental pressures. Although a transition towards a circular economy has become increasingly urgent, this shift is constrained by high implementation costs, systemic complexity, technological limitations, and a persistent gap between consumer awareness and actual purchasing behaviour. This study develops an integrative conceptual framework that brings together Circular Economy (CE), Lean Production (LP), Industry 4.0 (I4.0), and Islamic values through a descriptive qualitative approach grounded in an extensive literature review and critical analysis. The findings indicate that lean production, when implemented without alignment to circular principles, may inadvertently reinforce linear fast fashion practices. By contrast, reconceptualising lean production as sustainable lean production, supported by I4.0 technologies, can reduce the costs associated with reverse logistics while effectively managing the complexity inherent in circular systems. Islamic values function as an ethical foundation that strengthens commitments to sustainability, transparency, and responsible consumption behaviour. Overall, the proposed framework offers a coherent pathway for simultaneously reconciling economic efficiency with environmental responsibility.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the types and levels of technology innovation adopted by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and cooperatives in Surakarta City, as well as to analyze its impact on their business development. A qualitative approach was applied using surveys, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussions (FGD). The findings indicate that most SMEs have implemented input-level innovations through human resource (HR) training and alternative raw material utilization, but have yet to advance significantly in product development or production process innovation. Business process innovations, especially in digital marketing, have been more widely adopted and directly contributed to increased sales. Key driving factors for innovation include government-provided training programs and revenue growth post-innovation. Meanwhile, obstacles faced by SMEs include limited R&D and training budgets, and inadequate technological auditing capabilities. This study recommends optimizing the roles of local governments and universities in innovation facilitation and providing incentives to support innovation sustainability in the SME sector.

Abstract

This research employs a quantitative and descriptive approach to comprehend the factors shaping the repeat purchase patterns of Ventela shoes in Surakarta. The study includes all Surakarta residents who have previously engaged in Ventela product purchases, with a carefully chosen sample of 100 respondents through purposive sampling techniques. Data collection involves the administration of Likert-scale questionnaires, while analysis is executed utilizing SMARTPLS 3.0 software, applying a Structural Equation Model (SEM) framework via Partial Least Squares (PLS). The findings reveal a nuanced perspective: while product quality exerts a positive influence on repeat purchases, its statistical significance is deemed insignificant. Conversely, the impact of price on repeat purchases is both positive and statistically significant. Moreover, both product quality and price wield significant sway over purchase decisions, thereby fostering a culture of repeated buying behavior. These findings not only offer profound insights into the nuanced determinants driving repeat purchasing decisions for Ventela shoes in Surakarta but also furnish strategic implications for product marketing endeavors while paving the way for further exploration in the realm of consumer behavior and purchase decision dynamics. The research aims to enhance understanding of consumer repurchasing patterns for Ventela shoes in Surakarta, enabling companies to optimize their marketing strategies and improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the efficiency level of the use of guitar input and the output acquisition in guitar production and to analyze the influence and interests of stakeholders in the guitar industry. This study used a mixed-method approach. The research object is guitar business units that conduct production process, in which many business units only perform the production process with subcontracts from collectors and large producers. Efficiency and stakeholder analysis were used to determine the level of business efficiency and mapping of stakeholders in the guitar cluster. The results show the efficiency level of the guitar business was low. In general, the guitar business had not been efficient in using input and producing output. The inputs that led to the insufficient business were the number of labors and labor costs, while the outputs that caused inefficient business are turnover and profit of the business unit. The cluster organization needed to be improved by involving various key stakeholders in the development of guitar clusters and maintaining the sustainability of the guitar business.

Abstract

The food and beverage business has a strategic role in the economy and food security, where 90% of national food products are provided by SMEs. SMEs also control 99.9% of the industrial market, absorb 97% of the national workforce and contribute 60% to GDP. On the other hand, food and beverage SMEs have the lowest resistance to the COVID-19 pandemic, so efforts need to be made to strengthen organizational resilience to the uncertainty of the business environment. This study aims to describe the food and beverage business supply chain, analyze the level of business efficiency and analyze the key variables of the performance of food and beverage SMEs in Surakarta City after the covid-19 pandemic. This research uses supply chain analysis, efficiency analysis and structural analysis. Supply chain analysis uses descriptive qualitative analysis. Abstract

This study has two objectives, namely compiling and analyzing vulnerability indexes of business unit, and analyzing key success variables for food and beverage industries after the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis tool used in this study is business vulnerability analysis. The vulnerability analysis is derived from the vulnerability index to the COVID-19 threat, which is collected from all aspect indicator values of MSMEs' vulnerability to the COVID-19 theeat. These values consist of exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity. The results of the study explain that food and beverage MSMEs are categorized into medium vulnerability to the threat of COVID-19, where sensitivity is the highest influence aspect as a determinant of the vulnerability level. Due in part to the high number of MSMEs that are sensitive to the threat of COVID-19 and lack the ability to adjust, there may have been a fall in sales and bankruptcy of food and beverage MSMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
