Abstract

Stunting is a condition of nutritional status in children under five years of age with low height compare to age. The data from the National Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI) of 2022 shows that one out of every five children in Indonesia is stunted. The Movement to Popularize Eating Fish to Prevent Stunting (GAMSTING) is an effort to reduce stunting prevalence in Indonesia. Children, especially those in the pre-school period such as in day care, early childhood education and kindergarten, are an important target in stunting prevention education. This service activity aims to provide education to teachers, parents and students at Kindergarten DW Rinjani University of Mataram about the importance of nutrition fulfillment from an early age to prevent stunting, one of which is by consuming fish. This service uses the counseling method with material on the introduction of types of sea fish and fresh fish, as well as the importance of eating fish for the health and fulfillment of children's nutrition. The second counseling material is the hands-on practice of cooking tuna. Students and parents who attended the activity were enthusiastic in participating in the activity both in material presentation and in tasting the fish dishes from the cooking demonstration. Collaboration among children, parents and teachers at school in introducing and increasing fish consumption is expected to be an important measure to prevent stunting. Diet is very influential on the growth and development of children so that the toddler period is most appropriate for parents to introduce and get used to their children consuming fish.

Abstract

Kramajaya Village is one of the stunting loci in Narmada District, West Lombok Regency. Stunting is a problem of chronic malnutrition caused by inadequate nutritional intake over a long period of time due to providing food that is not in accordance with nutritional needs. The way to overcome and prevent stunting from a food perspective is to provide nutritious food to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and toddlers. These nutritious foods can include eggs, beef, chicken, seawater fish or freshwater fish. Tilapia is a fish that has high nutritional value and is classified as a fish that is low in cholesterol so it is healthy to consume. The results of discussions with the Mandiri Jaya Youth Organization, Kramajaya Village, Narmada District, West Lombok Regency, has abundant water sources. Apart from that, in Kramajaya hamlet there are many yards of residents' houses that have not been utilized optimally. There are no residents who know that the yard can be used to produce tilapia due to lack of knowledge about the technology of cultivating tilapia using tarpaulin ponds. Therefore, there is a need for knowledge transfer and assistance so that village residents, especially the Mandiri Jaya Youth Organization, Kramajaya Village, can produce tilapia fish in tarpaulin ponds to fulfill community nutrition, especially to prevent stunting and help improve the family economy. This counseling will be carried out using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method. Tilapia fish production using tarpaulin ponds in Kramajaya Village, West Lombok, is an effective solution in preventing stunting and improving community nutrition

Abstract

One of Indonesian aquaculture superior commodities is vannamei shrimp. The problems faced by freshwater vannamei shrimp farmers is that the shrimp growth is not optimal at 0 ppt salinity. Regarding shrimp survival, the crucial minerals needed are calcium (Ca), potassium (K), and magnesium (Mg). Calcium is able to increase shrimp skin calcium levels and the length of molting cycle, as well as for the growth of shrimp biomass and an increase in dissolved calcium can lead to an increase in pH. This research utilized calcium hydroxide Ca(OH)2, and was conducted for 45 days. The results showed that the highest SR value at P2 was 73.33%. The highest specific weight growth value was found in P3 as much as 6.21%/ day, and the highest specific length rate was found in P3 as much as 2.66%/ day. The highest coefficient of variance in weight was found in P2 with 46.3%, and the highest coefficient of variation in length was found in P2 with 12.88%. The best FCR value was found in P3 with 0.48. Therefore, adding Ca (OH)2 could increase the growth of vannamei shrimp in freshwater.
