Abstract

Geographical Phenomenon of Toponymy Meaning in Makassar City. This study aims to describe the toponymy and naming aspects of the origin of the name of the earth in Makassar City and its surroundings based on the description of the origin of the name.  This research uses qualitative descriptive methods with observation techniques, interviews, documentation, and literature review.   The data will be analyzed by classifying as a whole. The stages carried out are classifying the names of the earth's appearance in the form of village names, village names, and sub-district names in the Makassar City area and its surroundings. The results of the analysis show that the naming of toponymy (the name of the earth) in Makassar City means embodiment and community.  The aspect of embodiment is naming based on plants, animals, terrain, and naming based on the form of natural objects.   Furthermore, naming based on social aspects, namely naming based on the form of activities, character names, and naming   based on expectations.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the practice of power domination in the drama script I Maddi Daeng Rimakka through the lens of Norman Fairclough's CDA framework. This research focuses on the potential for domination of power as reflected in the dialogue spoken by I Maddi Daeng Rimakka. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The data for this research is in the form of conversations that occurred in the manuscript I Maddi Daeng Rimakka. The data source for this research is the drama script I Maddi Daeng Rimakka. The data that has been collected is processed using a qualitative descriptive analysis approach. The data analysis approach goes through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results reveal that there is a power relationship through the expression I Maddi Daeng Rimakka as a form of representation of the power one has and creates a hierarchical structure.

Abstract

The novel is a complex form of literature that explores issues in life, including social, moral, religious, and other values. Novelist Dee Lestari, with her work Rapijali: 1 Mencari, introduces teenage characters to depict ideologies in her work. Ideology in the novel serves the purpose of proposing change, improving systems, or altering behavior. This research analyzes the ideology in Dee Lestari's novel using van Dijk's Critical Discourse Analysis. The research method employed is content analysis, collecting data from the novel Rapijali: 1 Mencari and identifying implicit ideologies in themes such as family, politics, music, and friendship. The research findings reveal four ideologies: Humanism, Authoritarianism, Democracy, and Liberalism. This study illustrates how ideologies can be reflected in social, political, and cultural relationships, emphasizing the importance of understanding ideology in literary analysis.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) determine the level of reading interest of students at SMP 2 Donri-Donri Soppeng in rural areas; (2) find out the factors that influence students' interest in reading at SMP 2 Donri-Donri Soppeng in rural areas. The type of research used is Quantitative and Qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data in this research uses quantitative data obtained from the results of a questionnaire filled in by all 87 students of Donri-Donri 2 Middle School and qualitative data obtained from interviews with the Principal, Teachers and Students. The data analysis technique for this research is quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Quantitative data analysis is used to obtain the level of reading interest, while qualitative data analysis is used to obtain factors that influence reading interest. The results of the research reveal that the level of reading interest of students at SMP Negeri 2 Donri-Donri in rural areas is still low and the factors that influence students' interest in reading at SMP Negeri 2 Donri-Donri are internal and external factors. Internal factors include gender and external factors include the availability of reading materials, school policies, digital media, and economic factors.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the expository text writing skills of Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar; (2) describe the expository text writing skills of Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar after using image media; (3) describe the influence of using image media on the expository text writing skills of Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar. The type of research used is quantitative research using the Pre-Experimental method. The data collection technique in this research is a task that is divided into Pretest and Posttest. The population of this research was all Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar consisting of 10 classes with a total of 297 students and the sample was taken using a purposive sampling technique, so the researcher determined the research sample set at Class VIII.3 totaling 30 students. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the research revealed that the expository text writing skills of Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar before using image media obtained an average score of 62.73 in the less skilled category. The results of the expository text writing skills of Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar after using image media obtained an average score of 83.76 in the skilled category. Based on the Statistical Test Output in the simple regression test above, it is known that the value of Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) = 0.001 from 29 students. The value 0.001 < 0.05 means it can be stated that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of image media on writing exposition texts for Class VIII students at SMP Negeri 18 Makassar.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) describe the results of teaching poetry reading before implementing the participatory method; (2) describe the results of teaching poetry reading after implementing the participatory method; (3) describe the influence of the participatory method in teaching poetry reading to students Class IX of SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency. The type of research used is quantitative research using the Pre-Experimental method. The data collection technique in this research is tasks divided into Pretest and Posttest. The population of this research is all students Class IX of SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency, consisting of 2 classes with a total of 40 students, these classes are taken as samples in this research by total sampling technique drawn from all classes available at SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency. The data analysis used in this research is descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The research results reveal that the poetry reading learning outcomes of students Class IX of SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency, before the application of the participatory method, were categorized as poor with an average score of 65. The poetry reading learning outcomes of students Class IX of SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency, after the application of the participatory method, were categorized as good with an average score of 85.28. Based on the Output Test Statistic in the simple regression test conducted, it can be observed that the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.221 from 40 students. The value of sig. = 0.221 > 0.05 which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, thus it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the application of participatory methods on the learning of poetry reading for students Class IX of SMP Negeri 3 Sendana, Majene Regency.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the forms and impacts of language crimes in the form of hate speech against Anies Baswedan on social media. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The data used in this research is text from netizens' tweets and comments on social media taken with screenshots. The data sources in this research come from social. Data collection techniques are carried out by documenting, reading and taking notes. The research instrument in this research is the researcher himself. The data analysis technique in this research is to use descriptive orientation, data reduction, data selection, and conclusions. The results of this research show that there are impacts and forms of hate speech in the form of threats, insults, incitement and defamation against Anies Baswedan on the social media.
