Abstract

Islamic education in Indonesia operates within a highly plural society and continues to adapt to rapid social change. Despite its traditional roots, pesantren and madrasah remain central to shaping moral formation, communal resilience, and inclusive religious identity. This study examines how Islamic education contributes to social transformation and what socio-theological values emerge from faith-based practice. Using qualitative library research and thematic analysis of recent peer-reviewed literature, the study integrates sociological perspectives with theological insights to interpret how institutions embed Qur’anic–Hadith principles in educational life. Findings show that pesantren safeguard tradition while cultivating moderation, solidarity, and moral literacy, whereas madrasah combine Islamic studies with modern sciences to strengthen critical thinking and civic responsibility. The study’s originality lies in its interdisciplinary socio-theological approach, revealing that spiritual values such as ʿadl, raḥmah, ukhūwah, and taʿāwun shape not only personal ethics but also social behavior, interfaith engagement, and ecological consciousness. These insights highlight Islamic education’s capacity to negotiate globalization, technology, and secular pressures without diminishing theological depth. The research implies the need for value-based curricula, leadership development, enhanced digital literacy, and expanded interfaith initiatives to sustain a moderate and future-oriented model of Islamic education.

Abstract

Choosing a college major is an important academic decision that determines the direction of education, competency development, and career readiness of students after completing secondary education. However, in practice, many students still choose majors without adequate understanding of the study program, interests, talents, and academic prospects, potentially leading to wrong choices when entering college. This condition can have an impact on academic stress, low learning motivation, and unsuitable study directions. This community service activity aims to provide literacy in choosing college majors to grade XII students so they can make study choices more rationally and in accordance with their potential. The activity was carried out on January 15, 2026 at SMKN 7 Palembang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Motorcycle Engineering with 30 participants using an educational-participatory approach through lectures and interactive discussions. The lecture method was used to convey material regarding the importance of higher education, introduction to study programs, the relationship between interests and talents with major choices, and the risks of making mistakes in choosing a major. Furthermore, interactive discussions were held to deepen participants' understanding through direct questions and answers regarding major choices, college life, college entrance paths, and strategies for being a good student. The results of the activity showed that participants were highly enthusiastic, actively participated in discussions, and demonstrated an increased understanding of the importance of literacy in selecting a college major. Evaluation of the activity also indicated that students viewed the activity as highly beneficial in providing valuable resources for making informed and focused choices for further study.

Abstract

The development of the digital economy has driven an increasingly profit-oriented orientation in economic activity, often neglecting ethical values, justice, and social welfare. This situation has given rise to fundamental issues related to social inequality, resource exploitation, and the blurring of moral values in modern economic practices. This article aims to analyze the shift in the value paradigm from a profit-oriented orientation to the concept of falah in the digital economy, based on the perspective of Islamic economic philosophy. The research method used is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach, through an analysis of classical and contemporary literature relevant to Islamic economics, the philosophy of values, and the digital economy. The results of the study indicate that Islamic economics offers a more holistic value paradigm, where falah is understood as well-being in this world and the hereafter, encompassing material, spiritual, and social dimensions. The application of the values of monotheism, justice, balance, and moral responsibility in the digital economy has the potential to direct economic activity not only toward efficiency and profit, but also toward sustainability and the welfare of the community. Thus, the paradigm shift from profit to falah is a crucial foundation for building an ethical and just digital economy in accordance with Islamic economic principles
