Abstract

Willingness to Pay (WTP) is a method used to ascertain the extent to which individuals are willing to contribute financially to the protection of a specific tourist destination, in this case, the Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains. It provides insight into the level of financial support tourists are prepared to offer for the preservation of an environment. The objective of this study is to ascertain the factors that influence visitors' willingness to pay for the development of tourist attractions and to determine the value of their WTP. This will enable the establishment of price rates based on their willingness to travel to the Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains. This research is quantitative in nature, employing data collection techniques such as observation, questionnaires, and interviews with open-ended questions. The findings of the study indicate that the mean value of the WTP among visitors is Rp. The mean value of the WTP is 14,390. This value is greater than the entrance fee rate that has been implemented by the current Rammang-Rammang Karst Mountains tourism manager (POKDARWIS). A number of factors have been identified as influencing the willingness of visitors to pay, including the level of education, income, and the amount of time spent at tourist sites.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors affecting inflation in Indonesia and Singapore in the period 2000-2023 using a comparative approach. A quantitative approach was used, employing time series data from the World Bank, BPS (Statistics of Indonesia), and the Singapore Department of Statistics. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression to determine the effect of independent variables (quantity of money, interest rate, exchange rate, and economic growth) and dependent variables (inflation) simultaneously and partially. The results of this study show that independent variables have a simultaneous effect on dependent variables in Indonesia, while in Singapore, they do not. Meanwhile, in part, the quantity of money has a significant negative effect on inflation in Indonesia. Meanwhile, in part, the exchange rate has a negative and significant effect on inflation in Singapore. A comparison of the coefficients and adj. R² values reveal a higher level of sensitivity of inflation to quantitative monetary policy in Indonesia, while Singapore shows inflation resilience through a policy framework centered on exchange rates. These results confirm the differences in the structure and effectiveness of monetary policy, as well as their implications for the formulation of price stabilization strategies in both countries.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the relationship between stunting and the Human Development Index (HDI) in West Sulawesi Province, especially in six districts during the 2019-2023 period. Stunting as a chronic health problem affects the quality of human resources and regional development. Data includes stunting indicators, Age Spesific Death Rate (ASDR) mean years schooling (MYS), and gross regional domestic product (GRDP) combined with HDI as the dependent variable. A quantitative approach was used with descriptive analysis and Spearman correlation test using SPSS version 29.The research results show that stunting has a significant relationship with HDI in six districts of West Sulawesi Province. The high prevalence of stunting has been proven to reduce life expectancy, hinder educational attainment, and affect GRDP. Districts with lower stunting prevalence show higher HDI, highlighting the importance of health and education interventions in improving the quality of human resources in these regions. This study also identified that life expectancy and average years of schooling are strong indicators that significantly influence HDI.Keywords: age spesific death rate (ASDR) gross regional domestic product (GRDP) mean years schooling (MYS),

Abstract

Urban farming is an attempt to utilise the limited space available in urban areas for ecological, aesthetic, financial purposes and to fulfil food needs in urban areas. Urban farming in Makassar City is developed by forming farmer women groups (KWT) in each alley by producing a variety of commercially useful crops, such as chillies. Chilli is an important commodity as it is a major contributor to inflation. To increase the availability, quantity and quality of chillies, urban agriculture has the potential to become a platform for agribusiness development. This research aims to identify internal and external environmental conditions, formulate and determine priority strategies in the development of urban farming-based agribusiness of chilli commodities in Makassar City. This research was approached with SWOT analysis and Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results showed that the agribusiness development strategy is in quadrant I (Growth oriented strategy) with alternative priorities namely improving the quantity and quality of chilli production through the use of assistance and technology, increasing the motivation of KWT members, maximising the use of technology by utilising cultivation and processing technology and collaborating with other KWT.

Abstract

The rapid growth of urban populations in Makassar City poses significant challenges to agricultural land availability and food security. Urban farming offers an innovative solution by utilizing limited spaces for vegetable cultivation. This study aims to formulate strategies for developing vegetable commodities based on urban farming by identifying internal and external factors and determining strategic priorities. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires, interviews, observations, and documentation. SWOT analysis was applied to map strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, while the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to determine the main strategies. The findings reveal that urban farming development is positioned in an aggressive quadrant (quadrant I), indicating that internal strengths can be optimized to seize external opportunities. The priority strategies include leveraging the strategic locations of women farmer groups (KWT) to enhance distribution and marketing of harvests, both directly and through digital platforms, and optimizing production facilities and government support to improve vegetable quality and quantity. This study concludes that developing vegetable commodities through urban farming in Makassar City has high potential to strengthen food security and improve community welfare.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) often face challenges in accessing capital and dealing with complex regulations, both of which hinder their growth and development. This study aims to identify the external factors that influence the success of culinary MSMEs in facing industrial competition and to analyze how these external factors relate to their competitive success. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 99 culinary MSME owners. The results of the analysis indicate that there is no significant relationship between the legal framework and access to finance and the competitive success of culinary MSMEs. However, human resource capacity demonstrates a significant relationship with competitive success. The findings show that human resource capacity (HRC) presents a significant difference between observed and expected values.

Abstract

This study evaluates the factors that influence the broad money of five ASEAN countries. Global economic uncertainty due to financial crises, geopolitical conflicts and pandemics has affected the region's economic stability. Central banks have a role in controlling broad money through monetary policy, but its effectiveness is affected by other factors such as GDP, interest rates and inflation. Moreover, the relationship between GDP growth, inflation, and interest rates with broad money is a major concern, as the trend of broad money growth in the 5 ASEAN countries continues to increase every year. The balance between broad money and price stability is crucial to prevent economic stress that could lead to a recession. Therefore, this study focuses on an in-depth analysis of the factors that influence money supply to help the government make decisions. The research sample consists of 100 data with five ASEAN countries, namely Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia with a time series of 2004-2023. This methodology uses a mixed approach, namely quantitative with secondary data from the World Bank & IMF with LSDV analysis. It was found that the adjusted r square value was 97%, which means that GDP, interest rates, and inflation used were able to explain the money supply of 5 ASEAN countries by 97% and 3% was influenced by other factors outside this study. GDP was found to have no significant effect while interest rates have a significant negative effect and inflation has a significant positive effect on the broad money of 5 ASEAN countries. The government is expected to better analyze the policies and actions taken, such as managing monetary policy wisely, especially in maintaining the stability of inflation and interest rates so that the money supply can be well controlled.

Abstract

Abstract

The existence of erratic seasonal changes and the increasingly narrow area of agricultural land has caused changes in agricultural commodities production, which have decreased in Makassar City. The decrease in production also causes a decrease in farm income, thus affecting farmers' household income. This research was conducted in Makassar City, Indonesia, aims to estimate the impact of social and regional differences on household income. An econometric model approach with a qualitative independent variable regression estimation method is used in this analysis. We used the explanatory method with sample areas in the sub-districts of Tamalate, Biringkanaya, Manggala, and Tamalanrea as centers of food commodity production in Makassar City. Based on the time dimension using cross-sectional data. The sample of research respondents purposively were 165 farmers. The results showed that farmers' household income in Makassar City came from the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors. The social variables (wife's education and farmer group) and regional differences significantly affect farmers' household income. In contrast, a farmer's age and household size as a social variable have no significant effect. The involvement of agricultural households in urban areas will significantly support food availability, even though farming families consume more products than sell them. Therefore, the application of technology and innovation as well as farmer regeneration can increase agricultural production and impact the household economy. In addition, food availability can overcome food insecurity and security towards sustainable urban agriculture.
