Abstract

Abstract: This research explores the role of religion as a social identity marker in Indonesia's multicultural society through fieldwork in South Sumatra, specifically in Palembang and Musi Banyuasin. The current study utilizes a qualitative approach, incorporating in-depth interviews and participatory observation, to investigate the multifaceted nature of religious identity. The analysis reveals a dualistic function of religious identity, serving as a source of spirituality and a catalyst for social cohesion. However, the study also recognizes the potential for religious identity to catalyze exclusivism. Utilizing a combination of philosophical hermeneutics and a sociological perspective, this study highlights the significance of contextual interpretation of religious teachings in fostering inclusive spirituality. The findings indicate that tolerant spiritual expressions contribute to the strengthening of social harmony, as evidenced by increased interfaith engagement and reduced tensions. A model of spirituality-based multiculturalism is proposed as a strategy for improving social integration in Indonesia. Keywords: inclusive spirituality; religious identity; social harmony; multicultural society

Abstract

This research investigates the determinant factors of public speaking anxiety among Indonesian university students through both pedagogical and socio-psychological lenses. Public speaking anxiety is a prevalent phenomenon in language acquisition, potentially affecting communicative competence and academic achievement, especially in the context of foreign language learning. This study explores the influence of academic motivation, intolerance of uncertainty, and the Big Five personality traits (openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, extraversion, and neuroticism) as potential mediators in shaping speaking anxiety among Indonesian Arabic students in Islamic higher education. The research was conducted among students enrolled in Arabic Language Education programs at several state Islamic religious higher education institutions (PTKIN) in Indonesia. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to analyze the data, collected via self-report questionnaires. The results show that academic motivation does not significantly influence openness, while intolerance of uncertainty does. Of the Big Five traits, only openness and extraversion significantly affect speaking anxiety. Academic motivation influences conscientiousness, but not extraversion, while intolerance of uncertainty affects extraversion, but not agreeableness. Openness and extraversion mediate the relationship between academic motivation and speaking anxiety.

Abstract

This study aims to establish Arabic language proficiency standards through a TOAFL-based competency evaluation model that is recognised both nationally and internationally. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach following the Gall and Borg model. Data analysis ensured validity and reliability through prolonged engagement, persistent observation, and triangulation. The prototype developed in this study measures three key aspects of Arabic proficiency: listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension. Each aspect consists of several sections that assess different linguistic skills through 150 multiple-choice questions. The study also produced a question bank containing structured Arabic test materials designed for standardised assessment. Test scores are processed using a tabulation system that converts correct and incorrect responses into numerical values to generate total scores. The outcome of this research is a prototype of a standardised web-based Arabic language competency test model for Indonesian speakers, which can be used as a valid instrument for assessing Arabic language proficiency at the undergraduate and master’s levels.

Abstract

The Community Partnership Program (PKM) collaborated with Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta (MIS) Musawiyah, located in Dusun Kebun Kacang, Padang Tualang District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province. The general objective of the Community Partnership Program (PKM) implementation is to help solve partner problems in improving the quality of learning through the application of learning technology based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The specific objective is to provide training for MIS Musawiyah teachers on implementing AI-based multimedia learning, as well as to provide one unit of LCD projector as supporting equipment in the teaching and learning process at the madrasah. The methods used in this PKM program consist of several stages. The initial stage started with collecting data through surveys and interviews with the Head of Madrasah to identify the partner’s needs and problems. Based on these results, an engagement program was designed to cover implementation and evaluation activities over three months. The results show a significant increase in teacher competence, from 20% before training to 90% after training, as well as the creation of a more innovative and participatory learning culture. This activity was considered successful in improving teachers’ digital competence by an average of 70–80% and enhancing learning facilities, thereby creating a more attractive and effective learning environment. Evaluation demonstrates that the application of AI-based multimedia increased teacher creativity, learning effectiveness, and student participation.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines a new model of family waqf asset management involving nadzir and wakif as socio-preneurs at the Sabilillah Mosque in Malang Indonesia. Until now, the problem of potential waqf land has been unable to be developed productively. Expert waqf land is also not managed due to traditional reasons. Method: This study offers a solution by using a qualitative case study approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving mosque administrators (nazhir), wakif families, and beneficiaries. Results: The findings show that the family waqf management model by the nadzir effectively combines religious motivation with the principles of social entrepreneurship—emphasizing trusst, collaboration, and the creation of shared value rather than profit maximization. Implications: These research findings provide a new concept for managing productive waqf for the family micro-sector, particularly utilizing family land waqf to be productive through cooperation between the nadzir and wakif. Originality: This study identifies a new conceptual framework in which family waqf also benefits from waqf management to achieve family economic resilience. This model increases family income, strengthens social solidarity, and positions mosques as catalysts for social economy rather than merely religious institutions.

Abstract

Abstract

This study investigates the direct influence of psychological resilience on individual adaptability among remote workers in Indonesian digital startups during the era of digital disruption. Amid rapid technological change and evolving work structures, psychological resilience is increasingly seen as a core competency for navigating uncertainty and maintaining adaptive performance. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 150 remote employees through validated instruments: the CD-RISC-10 for resilience and Pulakos Adaptive Performance scale for adaptability. Statistical analysis using SPSS 25 revealed a strong positive correlation (R = 0.945) and a high explanatory power (R² = 0.893), indicating that 89.3% of individual adaptability can be explained by psychological resilience. The regression model was statistically significant (F = 1238.748, p < 0.001), with a regression coefficient (β) of 1.635, suggesting that each unit increase in resilience results in a 1.635-point rise in adaptability. These findings affirm the essential role of resilience as a predictor of adaptive capacity in remote digital work settings. The study contributes to the limited Indonesian literature by integrating psychological constructs within the context of remote work, offering strategic insights for human resource management in facing the ongoing digital transformation.
