Abstract

Social conflict is a phenomenon that often occurs in people's lives due to differences in interests, values, perceptions, and ineffective communication. If not managed properly, social conflicts have the potential to cause prolonged tensions and disrupt community harmony. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of empathic communication as a social conflict resolution strategy in Sombalabella Village, Takalar Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type of research. The data collection technique was carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation of village officials, community leaders, and residents involved in the process of resolving social conflicts. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman interactive model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that empathic communication applied through an attitude of listening, understanding the feelings and viewpoints of the conflicting parties, and open dialogue is able to reduce tension and encourage the achievement of mutual agreement. The effectiveness of empathic communication is supported by the active role of village officials and community leaders as well as a strong deliberation culture, although there are still obstacles in the form of limited communication skills and the emotional condition of the conflicting parties. This research contributes to the development of social communication science by emphasizing the importance of empathic communication as a humanist and participatory approach in the resolution of social conflicts at the local community level.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) in the digital era requires educational institutions to equip students with digital literacy from an early age. One subject that plays a strategic role in developing these competencies is Informatics. However, Informatics learning at the junior high school level still tends to be theoretical and lacks direct practical activities, resulting in suboptimal student understanding of computer systems. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of practice-based Informatics learning on the learning outcomes of Grade IX students at SMPN 1 Galesong Selatan, as well as to describe student activities and responses to the implementation of this learning method. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design (One Group Pretest–Posttest Design) involving 23 students as research subjects. The results showed that the average pretest score of 76.25 increased to 87.91 in the posttest. A paired-sample t-test revealed that the calculated t-value (4.23) was greater than the t-table value (2.00), indicating a significant improvement in learning outcomes after the implementation of practice-based learning. Furthermore, 92% of students responded positively, suggesting that this method enhanced student engagement, motivation, and understanding of introductory computer systems material. Therefore, practice-based Informatics learning has proven effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The development of digital learning requires teachers to have the ability to innovate in developing creative and engaging learning media. This study aims to describe the use of creative media in improving teacher innovation in digital learning through Canva training at the UPT SMP Negeri 4 Takalar. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with teachers who participated in the Canva training as subjects. Data collection techniques included observation, documentation of work results, and field notes during the activity. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the Canva training was able to improve creativity, digital literacy, and teacher confidence in designing visual-based learning media. Teachers were able to produce learning media in the form of posters, presentations, and digital infographics that were more engaging, interactive, and relevant to the teaching material. In addition, this training also encouraged a change in teachers' mindsets to be more adaptive to the use of technology in learning. Thus, the Canva training has proven effective in increasing teacher innovation in digital learning and needs to be implemented continuously to support the development of teacher professional competence.

Abstract

Student learning success is determined by the achievement of learning objectives that include cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects, which are influenced by internal and external factors. One crucial element in the effectiveness of independent learning is choosing the right learning style. This study aims to analyze the learning style tendencies of third-semester students of the English Language Education Study Program, FKIP, Wiralodra University in 2025 and the self-development strategies they carry out. The research method used is a case study with a quantitative descriptive approach. The results of the study show variations in learning style preferences as follows: (1) Dominance of Visual learning styles (40.9%), where students find it easier to understand material through graphical representations such as mind maps, learning videos, and colored notes; (2) Visual-Auditorial learning styles (31.8%) which rely on a combination of visual objects with oral explanations and discussions; (3) Auditory learning styles (13.6%) which focus on listening through audio, podcasts, and reading aloud techniques; and (4) Visual-Kinesthetic learning styles (13.6%) which prioritize visualization accompanied by direct practice or simulation. Independent learning strategies implemented by students include creating infographics, visual summaries, group discussions, and practical experiments. The study's conclusions indicate that the majority of students tend to prefer visual and visual-auditory learning styles because they are considered more logical and realistic in supporting independent understanding of the material. This study recommends that lecturers plan learning processes that accommodate various learning styles to increase student engagement and independence in learning.

Abstract

Teachers in North Kolaka Regency face serious challenges in meeting the requirements for scientific publication as a prerequisite for promotion, in accordance with Regulation of the Minister for Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Permennegpan and RB) Number 16 of 2009. Most teachers still struggle with limited time, lack of technical training, minimal mentoring, and restricted access to research resources. To address these issues, a community service program was conducted in the form of intensive training and mentoring in scientific writing aimed at enhancing teacher professionalism, encouraging innovation, and accelerating career advancement. The program was held on July 17, 2025, at Hotel Utama Hall, Lasusua, using a blended learning approach that combined face-to-face (offline) sessions with online mentoring via Zoom. Training materials included scientific writing modules, reference management software (Mendeley), Publish or Perish, and the introduction of the Open Journal System (OJS). The methods covered socialization, brainstorming research ideas, writing practice, literature and methodology training, classroom action research (CAR) workshops, and mentoring for publication through OJS. The results indicated a significant improvement in teachers’ skills in writing scientific articles, greater confidence to publish, and better understanding of electronic journal workflows. Identified challenges highlighted time constraints and limited technical skills, but the program provided solutions through continuous mentoring. In conclusion, the training effectively enhanced teachers’ competencies, fostered a culture of research, and supported career promotion. It is recommended that local governments, schools, and universities expand access to sustainable mentoring, both online and offline, to strengthen the culture of scientific publication at the local level.

Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum requires a paradigm shift in learning evaluation from outcome-oriented assessments to process-based assessments and learning outcomes. In the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), this demand presents its own challenges because the character of PAI not only emphasizes cognitive aspects, but also the formation of attitudes, morals, and spirituality of students. This study aims to examine the problems and strategies of PAI teachers in evaluating the learning of the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 11 Muaro Jambi. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with the subjects of PAI teachers in grades VII, VIII, and IX. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, learning observations, and documentation, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's interactive model. The results of the study show that the problems of PAI evaluation are structural and conceptual, including the limitations of official training in the evaluation of the Independent Curriculum, the reduction of PAI learning hours which has an impact on the continuity of assessment, and the difficulty of formalizing attitude and spiritual assessments into accountable evaluation documentation. Responding to these conditions, teachers develop adaptive strategies in the form of continuous observation of attitudes, the use of religious activities as formative assessments, adaptation of teaching tools, and capacity building through independent learning and informal collaboration. This research emphasizes that the evaluation of PAI in the Independent Curriculum is a pedagogical negotiation practice between the demands of curriculum accountability and the character of PAI as value education.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the implementation of school religious activities, students’ apathy toward participation, and Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teacher strategies in strengthening sustainable character development aligned with SDGs principles, particularly SDG 4.7. Theoretical framework: This research applies the theoretical framework of character education, religious school culture, and humanistic pedagogy within Islamic education. Previous studies indicate that religious activities contribute significantly to moral development, although student participation is often influenced by motivation, family background, peer interaction, and digital lifestyles associated with contemporary SDGs educational challenges. Literature review: The literature review shows that religious activities in schools can shape students' character, but student involvement often varies and is influenced by motivational factors, family, social environment, and digital  culture. Methods: This study employed a qualitative descriptive case study approach using interviews, observations, and documentation analyzed through the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model. Results: The findings reveal that religious activities were implemented systematically through routine habituation, structured programs, and spontaneous spiritual practices. Nevertheless, several students demonstrated apathetic attitudes caused by internal psychological conditions and external social influences. PAI teachers addressed these conditions through persuasive communication, relational guidance, exemplary behavior, and collaborative educational approaches. Implications: The study implies that strengthening contextual, humanistic, and participatory Islamic education management is essential for sustainable student character formation and achievement of SDGs-oriented educational transformation. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its integrative analysis connecting school religious culture, student apathy, teacher intervention strategies, and sustainable character education within the broader framework of SDGs implementation in education sectors.

Abstract

Pernikahan dini merupakan praktik yang masih sering terjadi di berbagai wilayah di Indonesia, termasuk Kabupaten Gowa, dan berdampak serius terhadap pemenuhan hak anak, khususnya hak atas pendidikan, kesehatan, dan perlindungan hukum. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bentuk perlindungan hak anak terhadap praktik pernikahan dini melalui pendekatan sosio-yuridis di Kabupaten Gowa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi lapangan, dan dokumentasi terhadap dokumen hukum dan kebijakan terkait. Informan penelitian terdiri dari pejabat Dinas Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak, tokoh masyarakat, orang tua, dan anak yang menjadi korban pernikahan dini. Data dianalisis menggunakan model interaktif Miles, Huberman, dan Saldaña yang mencakup reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlindungan hak anak terhadap praktik pernikahan dini dilakukan melalui tiga pendekatan utama: hukum formal, edukatif, dan sosial-kultural. Namun, implementasinya masih terbatas akibat lemahnya penegakan hukum di tingkat desa, resistensi budaya, dan rendahnya literasi masyarakat tentang hak anak. Diperlukan sinergi antara pemerintah, tokoh masyarakat, dan lembaga pendidikan untuk membangun sistem perlindungan anak yang lebih adaptif dan partisipatif. Penelitian ini menyarankan pendekatan yang lebih holistik dan berbasis komunitas untuk menanggulangi praktik pernikahan dini secara berkelanjutan.

This study analyzes the influence of competence and coordination on career development and their impact on employee performance at the Regional Secretariat of Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir Regency. Using a quantitative approach and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS), data were collected from 51 employees through a Likert-scale questionnaire. The results show that competence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance but does not significantly affect career development. Conversely, coordination has a very significant influence on both career development and employee performance. Additionally, career development is proven to significantly improve employee performance. These findings indicate that strengthening work coordination and career development are crucial aspects to support the improvement of employee performance in local government institutions. The implications of this study emphasize the need for human resource management strategies that prioritize enhancing competence, coordination, and career development to achieve professional governance and quality public services. This approach is essential to face organizational challenges in the digital era and to ensure improved work effectiveness and public service delivery. Penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh kompetensi dan koordinasi terhadap pengembangan karir serta dampaknya pada kinerja pegawai di Sekretariat Daerah Pemerintah Kabupaten Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir. Implikasi penelitian ini menggarisbawahi perlunya strategi pengelolaan sumber daya manusia yang menitikberatkan pada peningkatan ketiga aspek tersebut, yakni kompetensi, koordinasi, dan pengembangan karir, agar tercapai tata kelola pemerintahan yang profesional dan pelayanan publik yang berkualitas. Pendekatan ini penting untuk menghadapi tantangan perubahan organisasi di era digital dan memastikan peningkatan efektivitas kerja serta pelayanan kepada masyarakat.
