Abstract

This research examines the impact of international education standards on transportation management practices, focusing on multimodal education in transportation institutes. Qualitative data were collected from 39 cadets studying multimodal transportation, logistics, transportation safety, and law and road management. The study found that while there is some alignment between curriculum content and international standards, challenges such as resource constraints, cultural differences, and language barriers hinder full compliance. However, cadets perceive adherence to international standards as crucial for their future career prospects in the transportation industry. The research highlights the importance of aligning educational practices with international standards to enhance the competence of transportation professionals and improve the sustainability of transportation management practices. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing insights into the influence of international education standards on transportation management practices, with implications for policymakers, educators, and practitioners in the transportation sector

Abstract

In the offshore oil and gas industry in Indonesia is experiencing development , see the potential for very high demand for offshore installations, such as oil platforms, drilling rigs, etc. As a result, many shipping companies operate offshore vessels, in the activities of mining companies, and operating offshore oil drilling installations, a safety and security system is needed because this is an important factor that must be considered and becomes the basis for decision making in making decisions. determine seaworthiness in shipping, both in terms of facilities in the form of ships and infrastructure such as navigation systems and human resources involved in it, to reduce and minimize an accident on a ship. The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence the ship survey has on the ship's feasibility in the case of a client at PT Makara Jaya Marine. The approach method used is quantitative data , while data collection uses observation techniques, literature studies and questionnaires (questionnaires) so that the causes of problems can be found using quantitative data analysis techniques . The results showed that the effect of the ship survey on shipworthiness in the client case study at PT Makara Jaya Marine based on hypothesis testing with the t test, it was found that t count = 11.169 and after consulting with t table at a significant level of 5% and n = 28 shows t table = 2,048. Because t count is in the rejection area of Ho (11,169 > 2,048) then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results show that there is a low loading factor weight on the ship survey variable and the shipworthiness variable to overcome it by trying to improve the implementation of the shipworthiness survey in client company periodically to ensure the condition of the ship for safety.

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate landscape of English literacy and communication needs among first-semester cadets at the Maritime Institute in Jakarta. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive approach in conjunction with document analysis, phenomenological observation, and strategic filling distribution, the research uncovers compelling insights into the challenges and aspirations within maritime education. Document analysis indicates a distinct emphasis on technical proficiency in Maritime English, yet a noticeable gap exists in addressing socio-pragmatic aspects of communication. Phenomenological observation reveals a spectrum of cadet engagement levels, prompting a critical re-evaluation of pedagogical strategies. Strategic filling distribution brings to light a disparity between perceived theoretical relevance and the practical application of English, advocating for a more scenario-based approach to language learning. The implications underscore the necessity for a paradigm shift in curriculum development and pedagogical practices. Recommendations propose curricular enhancement, pedagogical innovation, and industry collaboration to align educational objectives with the dynamic demands of the maritime sector. In conclusion, this research functions as a catalyst for transformative change in maritime language education, urging stakeholders to navigate towards a more comprehensive, industry-oriented approach that equips cadets with the nuanced proficiency demanded by real-world maritime scenarios

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of maritime vocational education in developing leadership and management competencies, focusing on ethical decision-making, global competence, and innovation. A qualitative approach was used to gather insights from 24 participants, including maritime professionals, lecturers, graduates, and senior government officers. The results reveal that maritime vocational schools are highly effective in fostering leadership skills, with an overall average score of 9/10 across various indicators. However, graduates indicated a need for more practical, hands-on learning experiences to better transition into professional leadership roles. The study suggests that further collaboration between maritime vocational schools and industry stakeholders is essential to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with industry demands. By enhancing practical learning opportunities and addressing gaps in leadership training, maritime vocational education can continue to play a critical role in preparing future leaders for the complexities of the global maritime industry.
