Abstract

The removal of Ni2+ from electroplating process wastewater can be effectively accomplished using chitosan modified with activated carbon through an adsorption process. This research aims to develop adsorbents with varying mass ratios of chitosan to activated carbon and assess their efficacy in reducing Ni2+ concentrations, the impact of contact time on this reduction. Adsorbents were prepared by crosslinking protonated chitosan with tripolyphosphate and incorporating activated carbon in the following ratios: 0.5:1.5, 0.75:1.25, 1:1, 1.25:0.75, and 1.5:0.5 grams per gram. The adsorption process involved contacting 500 milliliters of electroplating process wastewater with 2 grams of adsorbent for various durations of 15 to 75 minutes. Ni2+ concentration in the filtrate was analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS), and the adsorbent was characterized with Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX). The optimal conditions for Ni2+ removal occurred with a chitosan/activated carbon mass ratio of 0.5:1.5 grams per gram and a contact time of 60 minutes, resulting in a final Ni²⁺ concentration of 2.17 mg/L, an adsorption efficiency of 98.92%, and an adsorption capacity of 49.46 mg/g. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of chitosan/activated carbon composites in treating Ni2+ contamination in electroplating wastewater, offering a sustainable environmental solution.

Abstract

Abstract

This article recontextualizes the societal understanding of the role of wives as housewives within the framework of Islamic law, challenging perceptions that associate this role with oppression or injustice. The study employs a normative legal research method, using statutory analysis, Islamic legal sources (the Qur’an, Hadith, and fiqh doctrines), and conceptual–doctrinal interpretation to examine the legal construction of domestic roles. The findings demonstrate that the designation of a wife as a housewife is consistent with Islamic legal principles. However, the study identifies a critical tension arising from rigid, gender-based divisions of labor that dichotomize domestic and public spheres, often positioning domestic responsibilities exclusively upon wives while assigning public authority to husbands. The analysis shows that Islamic law conceptualizes the domestic sphere as a shared domain of responsibility between spouses, grounded in mutual leadership (jamā‘iyyah al-qiyādah al-ri‘āyah), cooperation, and accountability, while also permitting wives’ participation in public life under theonomic ethic and familial considerations. This article contributes to Islamic legal scholarship by offering a contextual reinterpretation of domestic norms that reconciles statutory family law with Islamic jurisprudence, promoting a justice-oriented, cooperative, and non-hierarchical model of family life.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effects of Stardec bioactivator dosage and composting time on the nutrient quality of solid organic fertilizer derived from durian peel waste. The method employed was aerobic composting using an in-vessel system with variations in Stardec dosage and composting duration. The results showed that increasing the Stardec dosage and composting period significantly enhanced the macronutrient content. The optimal condition was achieved by adding 15 grams of Stardec on the 15th day, resulting in organic carbon of 26.29%, total nitrogen of 4.76%, total phosphorus (P-total) of 3.97%, and total potassium (K-total) of 4.43%. The resulting C/N ratio ranged between 5–10, indicating good compost maturity and readiness for soil application. All final parameters, including pH and moisture content, complied with the quality standards of SNI 7763-2024, confirming that the product is suitable for use as a safe and nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for soil improvement.

Abstract

Abstract: Leadership is an important aspect in building civilisation and social change. In the modern context, two widely discussed leadership models are Transformational Leadership and Servant Leadership. Both models have values that are in line with the principles of leadership in Islam as taught in the Qur'an and exemplified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This study aims to analyse the relationship between these two concepts and the verses of the Qur'an that emphasise the values of compassion, justice, exemplary behaviour, deliberation, and social responsibility. The results of the study show that Transformational Leadership is reflected in the visionary and inspirational leadership of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), which transformed society for the better (QS. Al-Imran [3]:159; QS. Al-Anbiya [21]:107), while Servant Leadership is reflected in his humble attitude, serving the people, and upholding justice (QS. Al-Furqan [25]:63; QS. Al-Ma'idah [5]:8). Thus, Islamic leadership is able to integrate transformational and service values into a unified Qur’anic leadership ethic. Keywords: Islamic leadership, transformational leadership, servant leadership, Al-Qur’an
