Abstract

Abstract

Coronavirus disease was first discovered in the city of Wuhan, China in December 2019. Due to the impact of the new coronavirus infection, many infected patients have died including in the United States. Data obtained from the official web of Data Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows a high mortality rate due to Covid-19. This study aims to analyze the Covid-19 mortality rate by region using the Agglomerative Hierarchical Clustering (AHC) method and find the optimal cluster validity using the Silhouette Index (SI) method. Clustering the Covid-19 death rate using the AHC method is needed to understand the pattern of death rates due to Covid-19 and assist in making policies for pandemic prevention and handling. This research resulted in the optimal number of clusters at n clusters = 2 with cluster-1 high mortality rate of 12,307 object and cluster-2 low mortality rate of 13,498 object. The results of this study can thoroughly analyze Covid-19 death data such as revealing some important findings and input that can be proposed to improve the quality of response to future pandemics.

Islamic boarding schools, known as Pondok Pesantren, are the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia. Besides their educational role, Pondok Pesantren also play a significant role in the economy due because of their large number with, 37.000 islamic boarding school in total and 4.8 million students across various regions. This substantial economic potential should be harnessed through self-sustaining economic activities, such as those carried out by Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu Stabat. This particular pesantren has engaged in independent economic activities by establishing a corporation that independently produces bottled mineral water. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of these self-sustaining economic activities at Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu Stabat on its stakeholders. The method employed involved economic empowerment of the pesantren through workshops with a knowledge and insight transfer approach. The results of the study indicate that the self-sustaining economic activities at Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu Stabat have had a significant impact on its stakeholders. Evidence of this impact includes increased economic inclusion and economic circulation in the surrounding environment of Pondok Pesantren Muhammadiyah Kwala Madu Stabat.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of financial literacy and locus of control on financial behavior within the K-pop fan community in Medan City. The background of this research is based on the phenomenon of consumptive lifestyles among K-pop fans, most of whom come from the younger generation. This study employs a quantitative approach using a survey method with 96 respondents who are members of the K-pop community in Medan. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression tests with the assistance of SPSS 25 software. The results of the study show that, partially, financial literacy has a significant influence on financial behavior (0.000 < 0.05), while locus of control does not have a significant influence on financial behavior (0.724 > 0.05). However, through simultaneous testing (F-test), it was found that financial literacy and locus of control together have a significant influence on financial behavior (0.000 < 0.05). These findings highlight the importance of improving financial literacy among the younger generation to encourage healthy financial behavior, particularly within communities with consumptive tendencies. Therefore, community-based financial education becomes an important strategy in facing the demographic bonus era

Abstract

The skincare industry has experienced rapid growth in line with increasing public awareness of the importance of skin care, particularly among younger generations. Skintific, a skincare brand based on dermatological research, faces intense competition, making it essential to understand the factors that influence consumer purchase decisions. This study aims to examine the effect of Word of Mouth (WOM), customer experience, and perceived risk on purchase decisions for Skintific products. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to consumers who had previously used Skintific products. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to test the hypotheses. The results indicate that WOM, customer experience, and perceived risk have a positive and significant influence on purchase decisions, both individually and collectively. These findings suggest that positive WOM, satisfying customer experiences, and effective management of rerceived risk are crucial strategies to encourage consumer interest and purchasing decisions. The practical implications of this research highlight the need for Skintific to strengthen testimonial-based communication, improve the quality of customer interactions, and provide comprehensive product education to reduce consumer concerns.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of midwife and family support in the utilization of the Maternal and Child Health Handbook by pregnant women. Study used a quantitative cross-sectional design. The study site was the Kalianda Community Health Center, South Lampung, and included all pregnant women in their first to third trimesters registered with the KIA register. A purposive sampling method was used to select 120 pregnant women, involving 20 midwives as additional data sources. The research instrument, a structured questionnaire, was tested for validity and reliability, showing good results (validity coefficient r = 0.74–0.82; Cronbach's Alpha = 0.85). Data were collected through direct interviews by trained enumerators and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis techniques, including the Chi-square test. The results show the majority of respondents were aged 20–35 and had a relatively high level of education, which positively impacted their ability to understand health information. Good midwife support was significantly associated with the utilization of the KIA Handbook, with 83.3% of respondents who received good support successfully using the handbook. Family support also showed a positive influence, with 76.4% of respondents who received good support being able to use the KIA Handbook efficiently.
