Abstract

Ancaman penularan Virus Covid-19 salah satunya dipengaruhi oleh perilaku dan lingkungan kurang sehat pada suatu tempat manusia menjalani aktifitas. Seringkali tempat kerja belum cukup disiplin menjalankan protocol kesehatan. Minimnya pengetahuan dan kebiasaan memicu meningkatnya populasi yang rentan untuk tertular atau menularkan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan sosialisasi tentang bahaya dan pencegahan penularan Covid-19 ditempat kerja. Edukasi yang diberikan meliputi langkah yang diambil atau protokol kesehatan dari pemerintah untuk diterapkan diantaranya, jaga jarak minimal 1 meter antar individu, selalu pakai masker jika beraktifitas di luar rumah, sering mencuci tangan, menggunakan handsanitizer dan lain sebagaianya. Dengan memberikan bantuan hand sanitizer otomatis mampu meminimalisir keborosan terhadap penggunaan cairan handsanitizer.

Abstract

Writing as the productive skill is needed to be master by the students so as to communicate and share the information in the written form. However, students still do not aware of the importance of writing skill. As a result, students face some problems in writing, such as have a lot mistakes in students’ writing due to the limitation of the time, lack of idea and vocabulary, and less concentration. Therefore, the objective of this study was to find whether collaborative writing technique was effective or not to improve students’ writing achievement. Quasi experimental method and nonrandomized pre-test post-test control group design were used. Study population was used as the samples and flip of cubic was used to determine the experimental and control groups. As a result, morning class was selected as the experimental group and afternoon class was selected as the control group. Content validity was used to check the validity of the test and tried out of the test was applied to find out the reliability of the test. Written test was used in which the students wrote one out of the topics provided. Then, the raters judged the students’ writing based on the rubric containing the four components, namely organization, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary. To analyze the data, t-test was used. Abstract

In the world of language development and academic achievement, the relationship between vocabulary mastery and writing power is critical. Recognizing the tremendous impact of students' lexical command on their ability to compose descriptive texts is critical for educators seeking to improve language teaching. As a result, the purpose of this study is to investigate the possible relationship between students' English vocabulary mastery and their ability to write descriptive texts at SMP PGRI Pedamaran. This inquiry provides useful insights into the underlying aspects that support excellent English writing. Utilizing a purposive sampling strategy, three classes comprising 72 students were chosen as the sample group. Data collecting included delivering multiplechoice vocabulary exams as well as essay-based writing tests. The Pearson Product Moment correlation approach was utilized to conduct further study. The findings show a substantial relationship between students' English vocabulary ability and their ability for descriptive writing at SMP PGRI Pedamaran. The estimated correlation coefficient (r) of 0.26 was more than the crucial value (r-table) of 0.23 at a significance level (p) of less than 0.05, indicating a weak correlation. This emphasizes the importance of vocabulary in generating descriptive texts, as well as its significance in language proficiency. As a result, vocabulary mastery emerges as a critical determinant in students' ability to successfully explain descriptive narratives, emphasizing its intrinsic value in the writing process

Abstract

Students still have difficulty in comprehending the reading text. Hence, the objective of the study was to find out whether Professor Know-It-All strategy could improve the tenth-grade students’ reading achievement at SMA Meranti Pedamaran or not. The population of this study was all the tenth-grade students of SMA Meranti Pedamaran. The sample was chosen using purposive sampling method, therefore, two classes; experimental group (class X.3) and control group (class X.2) were taken as the samples and each of them consisted of 36 students. To conduct this study, the quasiexperimental method was used. The written test in the form of multiple choices was administered in order to collect the data. The test was tried out to nonsample students at SMA Meranti Pedamaran in order to know the reliability and validity of the test. Before analyzing the data using the t-test, the normality and homogeneity were found. After the data were considered normal and homogenous, the result of independent sample t-test showed that t-obtained (4.960) was higher than ttable (1.9944) and pvalue (0.000) was less than ᾳvalue (0.05), it showed that null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It meant that Professor Know-It-All strategy could improve the tenth-grade students’ reading achievement at SMA Meranti Pedamaran. In brief, Professor Know-It-All Strategy could improve students’ reading achievement because this strategy guided them to comprehend the reading texts given during the treatment by asking and answering the questions posed by their classmates

Abstract

Listening plays important role in communication. In fact, students had troubles in understanding someone spoke. The aim of this study was to improve students listening skill by using Islamic English songs. The method was a classroom action research that consisted of pretest, two cycles, and posttest. Each cycle consisted of four steps: planning, action, evaluation, and reflection. The subject was the second semester of English Language Education Department of FKIP Islamic University of Ogan Komering Ilir that consisted of 24 students. The instrument was a written test and analyzed by mean score formula. The result showed that in the pretest, the students’ mean score was 51.46 (low), in cycle 1, the students’ mean score was 61.46 (moderate), and in cycle 2, the students’ mean score was 70.29 (moderate). In the posttest, the students’ mean score had improvement (80.13) which was in good category. Therefore, it could be concluded that the use of English Islamic songs improved the second-semester students’ listening skill. English Islamic songs stimulated students to listen to something so that they could identify the words and comprehend the content of the songs well

Abstract

Reading is beneficial for students to obtain new information and enlarge their knowledge. In fact, students still face some obstacles in comprehending the reading of report text. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out whether there was a significant difference in students’ reading achievement of report text between the students who were taught using Fact Question Response (FQR) strategy and that of those who were not. This study used quasi experimental method. The selected samples were used purposive sampling method, therefore, two classes out of seven classes. The accurate data were collected by using written test in the form of multiple choice. Based on the analyzing of independent sample t-test, the result showed that The comparison of the result of posttests between the experimental and control groups showed that the means difference of both tests was 6.08 and t-obtained (2.82) was higher than t-table (2.000) at the significant level of p<0.05. The students in the experimental group had better improvement in reading achievement because Fact Question Response (FQR) strategy guided them to survey the chapter to get general idea, to develop their way of thinking, engages the entire class to interact and share their experiences. In other words, there was a significant difference in students’ reading achievement of report text between the students who were taught using Fact Question Response (FQR) strategy and that of those who were not

Abstract

One of the ways to get new information is by reading. By reading, students are expected to get knowledge and be familiar with what is stated in the content of the text. Nevertheless, students are still have some problems in comprehending the reading text which makes their reading achievement were low. To overcome the students’ problems in reading, the teacher could implement the reader’s theater strategy. Therefore, this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the reader’s theater on students’ reading comprehension achievement. To conduct the research pretest posttest nonrandomized control group design, involving two groups was applied. The samples of this research were the students of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung Raja. Based on the calculation using independent sample t-test, it was indicated that the reader’s theater could improve students’ reading comprehension achievement. The use reader’s theater was likely to be more effective in improving students’ reading achievement particularly in terms of vocabulary and comprehending the text. In addition, readers’ theater strategy can help the teacher in teaching reading narrative text because by using readers’ theater, students focused on the content of the text

Abstract

Many researches have shown the facts that the students’ skills in writing can be improved by having a good reading habit. It was convinced that the students reading habit has great impact on the improvement of students’ writing ability. The students who read extensively will acquire more vocabularies that lead them to have greater proficiency in writing. Therefore, this study was purposed to know whether reading habit of the eighth graders of SMPN 6 Kayuagung was significantly correlated to their writing skill. By means of Purposive sampling, 124 students of the whole number of the population were selected as the sample. A correlational study was applied. A questionnaire and written test were distributed to get the data. Twenty items of a ready-made questionnaire were used to know students’ habit in reading and a writing test was a dmin ist er ed to measur e students’ writing skill. The writing test was reliable because its reliability coefficient was 0.942. In data analysis, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient on SPSS 20 was used. The findings revealed that r-obtained (0.685) was bigger than the value of r-table (0.176) at p-value which was less than 0.05. Thus, the formulated hypotheses were proved. In other words, there was a significant correlation between reading habit and writing skill of the eighth graders at SMPN 6 Kayuagung

Abstract

Writing is a challenging skill that students must master. Students must understand aspects of writing, including content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics to compose well. The objective of this study was to investigate eighth-grade students’ difficulties in writing recount text at VIII MTs Pidua. A qualitative study was applied. The samples were the eighth-grade students of MTs Pidua consisting of 14 students. To collect the data, a written test in the form of an essay and a questionnaire consisting of eight questions related to grammatical, knowledge and understanding, practice, and educational background were employed. Two raters scored the students’ writing products using an analytic scoring rubric. To validate the data, the triangulation method was applied. To analyze the data, Miles and Heberman’s three steps were used: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings revealed that the number of learners made it challenging to write a recount text. These difficulties were linked to writings aspects such as content (35.71%), vocabulary (35.71%), grammar (21.43%), and organization (21.43%). The students, on the other hand, were well-versed in mechanics. They understood the importance of punctuation, spelling, and capitalization when writing a recount text. However, the students had difficulty in writing a recount text due to limitation knowledge of grammar, less understanding of the recount text, and less practice at writing. In conclusion, the eighth-grade students at MTs Pidua still struggled with essential elements of writing that should be considered while creating a recount text

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an essential component in modern education, particularly in language learning, due to its potential to enhance engagement, accessibility, and learner autonomy. This study investigates pre-service primary teachers’ perceptions of ICT in English language learning, focusing on four dimensions: attractiveness, perceived effectiveness, relevance, and motivation. Using a quantitative survey approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 26 Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong students. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on a Likert scale. The results indicate that students perceive ICT as a beneficial and engaging tool in their language learning journey. Regarding attractiveness, 79% of respondents agreed that ICT enhances their English learning practices, and 78% acknowledged its usefulness in creating digital learning resources. However, 63% still valued traditional printed materials alongside digital tools. Regarding perceived effectiveness, 88% strongly agreed that ICT helps them learn new things, while over 70% affirmed its positive impact on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and overall language proficiency. Furthermore, 82% of participants reported enjoying using technology in their learning process, and 77% indicated using ICT to communicate with peers from other countries, demonstrating its global learning potential. Additionally, 80% strongly desired to learn more about integrating ICT into classroom instruction. These findings highlight the significance of ICT in enhancing students’ motivation, engagement, and language skills. Therefore, integrating ICT effectively into English language instruction is crucial to support second-language acquisition in contemporary learning environments
