Abstract

One of the ways to get new information is by reading. By reading, students are expected to get knowledge and be familiar with what is stated in the content of the text. Nevertheless, students are still have some problems in comprehending the reading text which makes their reading achievement were low. To overcome the students’ problems in reading, the teacher could implement the reader’s theater strategy. Therefore, this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the reader’s theater on students’ reading comprehension achievement. To conduct the research pretest posttest nonrandomized control group design, involving two groups was applied. The samples of this research were the students of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Tanjung Raja. Based on the calculation using independent sample t-test, it was indicated that the reader’s theater could improve students’ reading comprehension achievement. The use reader’s theater was likely to be more effective in improving students’ reading achievement particularly in terms of vocabulary and comprehending the text. In addition, readers’ theater strategy can help the teacher in teaching reading narrative text because by using readers’ theater, students focused on the content of the text

Abstract

Many researches have shown the facts that the students’ skills in writing can be improved by having a good reading habit. It was convinced that the students reading habit has great impact on the improvement of students’ writing ability. The students who read extensively will acquire more vocabularies that lead them to have greater proficiency in writing. Therefore, this study was purposed to know whether reading habit of the eighth graders of SMPN 6 Kayuagung was significantly correlated to their writing skill. By means of Purposive sampling, 124 students of the whole number of the population were selected as the sample. A correlational study was applied. A questionnaire and written test were distributed to get the data. Twenty items of a ready-made questionnaire were used to know students’ habit in reading and a writing test was a dmin ist er ed to measur e students’ writing skill. The writing test was reliable because its reliability coefficient was 0.942. In data analysis, Pearson Product Moment Correlation coefficient on SPSS 20 was used. The findings revealed that r-obtained (0.685) was bigger than the value of r-table (0.176) at p-value which was less than 0.05. Thus, the formulated hypotheses were proved. In other words, there was a significant correlation between reading habit and writing skill of the eighth graders at SMPN 6 Kayuagung

Abstract

Writing is a challenging skill that students must master. Students must understand aspects of writing, including content, organization, grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics to compose well. The objective of this study was to investigate eighth-grade students’ difficulties in writing recount text at VIII MTs Pidua. A qualitative study was applied. The samples were the eighth-grade students of MTs Pidua consisting of 14 students. To collect the data, a written test in the form of an essay and a questionnaire consisting of eight questions related to grammatical, knowledge and understanding, practice, and educational background were employed. Two raters scored the students’ writing products using an analytic scoring rubric. To validate the data, the triangulation method was applied. To analyze the data, Miles and Heberman’s three steps were used: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The findings revealed that the number of learners made it challenging to write a recount text. These difficulties were linked to writings aspects such as content (35.71%), vocabulary (35.71%), grammar (21.43%), and organization (21.43%). The students, on the other hand, were well-versed in mechanics. They understood the importance of punctuation, spelling, and capitalization when writing a recount text. However, the students had difficulty in writing a recount text due to limitation knowledge of grammar, less understanding of the recount text, and less practice at writing. In conclusion, the eighth-grade students at MTs Pidua still struggled with essential elements of writing that should be considered while creating a recount text

Abstract

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become an essential component in modern education, particularly in language learning, due to its potential to enhance engagement, accessibility, and learner autonomy. This study investigates pre-service primary teachers’ perceptions of ICT in English language learning, focusing on four dimensions: attractiveness, perceived effectiveness, relevance, and motivation. Using a quantitative survey approach, data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 26 Universitas Pendidikan Muhammadiyah Sorong students. Responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on a Likert scale. The results indicate that students perceive ICT as a beneficial and engaging tool in their language learning journey. Regarding attractiveness, 79% of respondents agreed that ICT enhances their English learning practices, and 78% acknowledged its usefulness in creating digital learning resources. However, 63% still valued traditional printed materials alongside digital tools. Regarding perceived effectiveness, 88% strongly agreed that ICT helps them learn new things, while over 70% affirmed its positive impact on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and overall language proficiency. Furthermore, 82% of participants reported enjoying using technology in their learning process, and 77% indicated using ICT to communicate with peers from other countries, demonstrating its global learning potential. Additionally, 80% strongly desired to learn more about integrating ICT into classroom instruction. These findings highlight the significance of ICT in enhancing students’ motivation, engagement, and language skills. Therefore, integrating ICT effectively into English language instruction is crucial to support second-language acquisition in contemporary learning environments

Abstract

Oral health is an important aspect in maintaining the quality of life of the elderly. However, the elderly often face challenges in maintaining oral hygiene due to decreased physical abilities, changes in cognitive status, and lack of knowledge and access to dental health services. This study aims to identify factors that influence oral hygiene in the elderly and to develop an effective community-based intervention to improve oral hygiene among the elderly. The methods used in this study included a survey of knowledge, attitudes, and oral hygiene practices before and after counseling, as well as direct observation of oral hygiene in 50 elderly in the local community. The intervention was carried out through counseling, training, and providing support from family and community. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge of the elderly, from 60% before counseling to 85% after. Positive attitudes also increased, with more than 80% of the elderly showing a stronger intention to maintain oral hygiene independently. Oral hygiene practices also improved, with 75% of participants reporting brushing their teeth at least twice a day after the intervention, compared to 40% before the intervention. In addition, family and community support play an important role in facilitating these behavioral changes. The conclusion of this study is that a comprehensive community-based intervention is effective in improving oral hygiene in the elderly. This approach, which combines education, attitude change, and social support, can be a model adopted in oral health programs in other communities to improve the quality of life of the elderly.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran buku bergambar dalam mengenalkan huruf hijaiyah kepada anak usia dini di Raudhatul Athfal Bani Fuad Syihabuddin dan mengetahui kelayakan media pembelajaran buku bergambar sebagai media dalam mengenalkan huruf hijaiyah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian R&D yang mengadopsi dari pengembangan Borg and Gall. Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah Raudhatul Athfal Bani Fuad Syihabuddin Taman-Pemalang. Sebelum diuji cobakan buku ini terlebih dahulu divalidasi oleh ahli materi dan juga ahli media. Untuk menguji kelayakan buku dilakukan angket terhadap pengajar dan juga peserta didik untuk mengetahui respon peserta didik terhadap buku bergambar. Penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah produk berupa media pembelajaran buku bergambar sebagai media dalam mengenalkan huruf hijaiyah. Berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi mendapatkan persentase kelayakan sebesar 85,3% kategori “Sangat Layak” sedangkan penilaian validator ahli media mendapatkan persentase kelayakan sebesar 92,3% kategori “ Sangat Layak” untuk digunakan pada anak usia dini. Pendidik dan peserta didik memberikan respon positif terhadap produk media buku bergambar. Hasil penilaian guru mendapatkan persentase sebesar 82,5% sehingga penilaian yang dicapai mendapatkan kategori “Sangat Layak” sedangkan hasil uji coba lapangan memperoleh hasil persentase 85% dengan kategori “Sangat Layak”.

Abstract

Pencatatan laporan keuangan merupakan hal yang penting bagi pelaku usaha untuk mengetahui perkembangan usaha dan tata kelola keuangan sebagai kunci keberhasilan usaha termasuk UMKM. Namun, pencatatan laporan keuangan sering kali dianggap tidak terlalu penting oleh kebanyakan pelaku usaha UMKM. Oleh karena itu, diadakanlah kegiatan pengabdian berupa pendampingan pencatatan laporan keuangan pada UMKM berbasis aplikasi, yang dilatarbelakangi oleh keterbatasan pengetahuan, keterampilan, dan sumber daya yang dimiliki oleh pelaku usaha UMKM terkait pencatatan laporan keuangan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu metode Participatory Action Research (PAR) dimana pengabdi melakukan beberapa tahapan yaitu observasi atau mengamati langsung proses bisnis UMKM Martabak 3G, wawancara dengan pemilik UMKM untuk mengetahui proses pencatatan laporan keuangan, Pelatihan penggunaan aplikasi dan penjelasan rinci mengenai aplikasi, terakhir pendampingan untuk memantau kemajuan pemilik UMKM dalam penggunaan aplikasi dan pencatatan laporan keuangan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu mitra UMKM memiliki tata kelola keuangan lebih baik dengan adanya laporan keuangan terstruktur menggunakan aplikasi, transparansi keuangan yang meningkat, dan pengambilan keputusan yang lebih akurat.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pendampingan atau penyuluhan tata kelola keuangan yaitu memberikan pemahaman pada Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah Pempek Minah Tanggo Rajo Cindo mengenai Aplikasi Akun.Biz dan Buku Warung yang tersedia di Google Play Store tentang membuat laporan keuangan berbasis Aplikasi. Di era digital teknologi yang berkembang, para pelaku Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah diharapkan dapat beradaptasi dan memanfaatkan teknologi. Namun pada kenyataannya para pelaku Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah merasa kesulitan dalam mengadopsi teknologi digital, sehingga masih menggunakan cara manual dan kurang efektif. Metode yang digunakan pendampingan langsung melalui pengenalan aplikasi, praktik langsung hingga berhasil di terapkan. Pendampingan ini berjalan lancar dapat memberikan pengetahuan serta melatih keterampilan pelaku usaha dalam menerapkan laporan keuangan berbasis aplikasi. Setelah kegiatan penyuluhan, pelaku usaha mampu menggunakan aplikasi Teman Bisnis dalam mencatat transaksi, membuat pencatatan keuangan, laporan keuangan, serta laporan laba rugi.

Abstract

The first five years of life are a golden age for growth and development, so fulfilling nutritional intake during this period is very important to avoid stunting or growth failure. The problem of stunting is still the focus of the government because it is related to nutrition which is one of the key aspects for the development of qualified resources as well as in national development. According to the report of the Ministry of Health in 2023, it was stated that the results of the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey showed that there had been a decreasing in the prevalence of stunting over the past 10 years but it had not been able to meet the target of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan of 14% in 2024. This study will classify the toddler’s nutritional status using the Naive Bayes method. This method uses a probability technique with Bayes' theorem which is based on the assumption of mutually independent and equal conditions. The calculation of the Naive Bayes probability in this study uses the Multinomial distribution because the data used is discrete data. The total numbers of toddlers’ nutritional status data obtained was 245 data, with 4 invalid data. Based on the data set owned, the number of samples for each class label had an unbalanced number. One method could be used to handle this unbalanced data is the random oversampling method, Synthetic Minority Oversampling (SMOTE). SMOTE will create synthetic data randomly to balance minority data samples. The analysis and testing results showed that in Multinomial Naive Bayes with the 10-cross validation technique, the g-means value obtained on the original data set was 44.98% while in the balanced data set the g-means value was 80.06%. In Multinomial Naive Bayes with the split validation technique, the g-means value obtained on the original data set was 44.20% while in the balanced data set was 80.06%. This showed that there was an increase in the g-means value of 35%. It can be stated that the SMOTE method effectively improves the overall capability of the Multinomial Naive Bayes model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of brand ambassadors, sales promotions, and brand image on the purchase intention of Mie Lemonilo products in Balikpapan. The research utilizes both primary and secondary data. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to followers of the Mie Lemonilo Instagram account in Balikpapan, while secondary data were gathered from various supporting sources. The population in this study consisted of all followers of the Mie Lemonilo Instagram account in Balikpapan, with a sample size of 100 individuals. The results of the study indicate that Brand Ambassador (X1) does not significantly influence the purchase intention of Mie Lemonilo. This suggests that the impact of the brand ambassador on consumer purchasing decisions in Balikpapan is not strong enough, possibly due to insufficient engagement or connection between the brand ambassador and consumers. In contrast, Sales Promotion (X2) has a significant positive impact on the purchase intention of Mie Lemonilo. This indicates that sales promotions, such as discounts or special offers, have a substantial effect in attracting consumer interest and increasing purchase intention in Balikpapan. Meanwhile, Brand Image (X3) does not show a significant influence on the purchase intention of Mie Lemonilo. This may be due to other factors being more dominant in influencing consumers’ purchase decisions, such as product price, quality, or social factors and market trends. This study provides insights that, although brand image is important, sales promotions play a more significant role in driving purchase intention for Mie Lemonilo products in Balikpapan. Therefore, the company should focus more on promotional strategies to increase sales while continuing to consider the role of brand ambassadors and brand image in their marketing strategies.
