Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of integrating the Snowball Throwing cooperative learning model with visual cue cards in improving elementary students’ science achievement on ecosystem concepts. The study employed a true experimental pretest–posttest control group design involving 66 fifth-grade students randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Student achievement was measured using a validated multiple-choice test. Prior to hypothesis testing, data met parametric assumptions, as indicated by normal distribution (Shapiro–Wilk, p > .05) and homogeneous variance (Levene’s test, p = .651). Data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests and effect size estimation. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher posttest scores than the control group (t(64) = 6.12, p < .001), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.46). Gain score analysis also showed a significant difference (t(64) = 7.22, p < .001; Cohen’s d = 1.80), indicating substantially greater learning improvement among students exposed to the cooperative–visual approach. These findings suggest that combining structured peer interaction with visual scaffolding effectively enhances conceptual understanding in elementary science learning. The study provides empirical support for implementing multimodal cooperative strategies to improve science achievement in primary education. Abstract

This community service activity aims to strengthen teachers’ competencies in designing and implementing contextual STEAM learning that is aligned with local school conditions. The program was conducted at the Musa-Asia Integrated School (SEPAMA), Cambodia, involving junior high school teachers and school leaders. The implementation methods included a baseline needs analysis, workshop-based training, instructional design mentoring, the implementation of simple classroom projects, and pre-test and post-test evaluations of teacher competency. Data were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively by comparing the mean pre-test and post-test scores and calculating the gain. The findings indicate an improvement in teacher competency across all measured dimensions, particularly in interdisciplinary integration and project-based learning. The average score for STEAM understanding increased from 2.82 to 3.27, representing a 15.96% improvement, while the project-based learning score increased from 2.45 to 3.09, representing a 26.12% improvement. Teachers also began to perceive STEAM learning as a practical and feasible approach that could be implemented by utilizing the school environment and students’ daily activities. The classroom project implementation demonstrated increased student engagement, although not all teachers applied the approach consistently due to time constraints and the need for further adaptation. Field findings suggest that the simplified contextual STEAM approach is relevant to local school settings and effective in enhancing teacher readiness. Overall, this activity had a positive impact on improving teacher capacity and learning quality, with strong potential for sustainability through continuous mentoring and institutional support from partner schools.

Abstract

Mental well-being among Muslim adolescents is an important issue that increasingly demands attention due to the various challenges faced by the youth in a complex social context. This study aims to explore the challenges faced by Muslim adolescents in maintaining their mental well-being, as well as the strategies that can be implemented to cope with the social pressures they experience. Using a mixed-method approach, data were collected through surveys and in-depth interviews with Muslim adolescents from various regions in Indonesia. The results show that social pressures from the environment, such as expectations from family and society, as well as the influence of social media, significantly contribute to adolescents' mental health. Several strategies identified to improve mental well-being include social support, mental health education, and the development of effective coping skills to deal with stress and anxiety. This study underscores the importance of a community-based approach to support Muslim adolescents.

Abstract

This article examines the relationship between religion identity and moderation within the context of social psychology, with a focus on the influence of religion identity on individual attitudes and behaviors in a pluralistic society. The social tensions often caused by religious differences highlight the importance of understanding the factors that influence moderation attitudes. This research uses a quantitative method with a survey involving 100 respondents from various religious backgrounds. The findings indicate that individuals with strong religious identities tend to have more moderate views. However, the study also reveals that other factors, such as education level and the intensity of interfaith interactions, also affect moderation attitudes. These findings provide new insights into the role of moderation in maintaining social cohesion and strengthening interfaith relationships in an increasingly plural society. This article is expected to contribute to the understanding of social dynamics and the development of policies that support interfaith harmony.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of the square board as a teaching tool to improve students' learning outcomes in quadratic equations. This research is motivated by persistent global challenges in mathematics education, particularly regarding students' difficulties in understanding and solving quadratic equations due to their abstract and complex nature. The square board, which provides a visual and interactive approach, is designed to help students concretely visualize completing the square and the structure of quadratic equations. Using a quasi-experimental design, this study involved high school students divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction using the square board, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through pre-tests and post-tests to measure conceptual understanding and problem-solving abilities. The results showed that students taught with the square board demonstrated significantly higher improvements in conceptual understanding and procedural fluency than those in the control group. These findings suggest that the square board increases engagement and motivation and addresses common misconceptions and procedural challenges associated with quadratic equations. This study contributes to the growing literature on innovative mathematics teaching methods by providing empirical evidence for using concrete manipulatives in algebra learning. This study also highlights the need for further research on integrating visual and interactive media in mathematics classrooms to support deeper learning and improve student learning outcomes.
