Abstract

Abstract

Students' obstacles in learning mathematics are due to weak reasoning and low motivation. This study aims to develop a metacognitive learning model using the metaphor of a rare Kalimantan tree to improve mathematics learning outcomes and motivation. The research method comprised the Recursive, Reflective, Design, and Development stages, with the learning model developed as a single-path prototype and validated through expert, small-group, and field validation. The instruments include expert assessments, student response questionnaires, mathematics achievement tests, and motivation scales. Data analysis used qualitative and quantitative descriptions, bar charts, line charts, and analysis of variance. The research findings are presented through the gradual development of the learning model from a single-path prototype to an alpha and beta version. The learning model, in the form of a single-path prototype, is a rough draft for organizing three components: metacognitive questions, metaphors, and hands-on activities. The alpha version of the learning model was developed through expert and small-group validation. Experts assess the learning model as very effective for mathematical reasoning and learning motivation, and easy to apply. The beta version of the learning model has been proven effective in improving mathematics learning outcomes and in the interaction effect between motivation and the learning model during the mathematics learning process. Teachers use it by creating worksheets with metacognitive questions and assigning hands-on activities. The results of this study contribute theoretically by highlighting elements of local wisdom as components of the model.   Keywords: hands-on activity, mathematical reasoning, metaphor, metacognitive questioning strategy, motivation.

Abstract

Research has demonstrated the treatments using sawdust–cement ratios of A1 (1:1.5), A2 (1:2), A3 (1:2.5), and A4 (1:3) in the manufacture of red meranti wood particle cement boards based on the SNI 03-2105-2006 standard. The results showed that the physical and mechanical properties of red meranti sawdust cement boards met the standards for moisture content, density, and thickness swelling. However, the modulus of elasticity (MoE) and modulus of rupture (MoR) did not meet the SNI 03-2105-2006 requirements. The analysis of variance indicated that the sawdust–cement ratio treatments had no significant effect on moisture content, density, and thickness swelling, but had a significant effect on the modulus of elasticity (MoE) and modulus of rupture (MoR), with the best treatment being A1 (1:1.5). The quality of the red meranti sawdust cement board falls under the ordinary type 1 particle cement board with a thickness of 13 mm and medium density, and is therefore recommended for non-structural uses such as interior partition walls, ceilings, decorative purposes, and tabletops.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to Identify each type of plant that has the potential to be used as medicine in Petak Puti Village; Describe the use and processing methods of plants that have the potential to be used as medicine. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive research design. Observation, to obtain information about the initial stages of the research, was conducted to seek information about traditional medicine that utilizes medicinal plants in Petak Puti Village. The informant selection technique used the purposive sampling method, carried out by selecting informants for certain considerations, in this case, the person who is considered to know the most about the situation in the village. The determination of informants purposively is assumed that the selected informants represent a homogeneous community, consisting of main informants (key informants) to be interviewed such as the village head, traditional leaders and immigrants who are married to village residents. While the basic informants are village members, traditional members and residents outside the village who have knowledge about the village. The local wisdom of plant species is very significant in the views and perceptions of the community in meeting basic human needs. The Dayak Ngaju Katingan community is highly dependent on natural resources to meet various daily needs. Most of the community's income comes from forest plant products. The diversity of plant species can provide food products for the community, produce various types of plants for consumption as a supplement for the Dayak community and generate alternative sources of income, such as used as food, medicines, fermentation, tonics, cosmetics, building materials and other materials, which can provide important nutrients and vitamins as supplements for the community, and can provide a buffer in times of food shortages. In addition, existing plant species have great potential to be developed and cultivated into new plants and provide genetic resources and conduct selection.

Abstract

The repair of Electric Submersible Pump (ESP) in well X-155 at the Tanjung Field has become a major issue impacting production rates and increasing operational costs. In 2024, well X-155 experienced 7 well service interventions due to pump failures, which caused damage to the pump impeller and resulted in a loss of oil production. This failure was identified as being caused by the deposition of carbonate minerals (scale), which became the primary cause of damage to the ESP pump. To confirm the presence of scale, solid scale deposition was analyzed using X-ray Diffraction (XRD) methods in an independent laboratory, along with fluid property testing. This method was used to determine the composition and crystalline phases of the scale formed in the well. This study aims to analyze the causes of scale formation in the ESP system. It is expected that the findings from this research will provide solutions to pump failures, reduce the frequency of such failures, and improve operational efficiency at the Tanjung Field, particularly through the implementation of scale inhibitor treatments. The scale treatment for well X-155 is unique due to the need to formulate a scale inhibitor that can function effectively under the high-temperature and high-pressure conditions present in the well

Abstract

Thermal annealing is used to strengthen the mechanical performance and thermal stability of fused deposition modeling (FDM) parts made from polylactic acid (PLA). This treatment frequently introduces dimensional shrinkage, compromising geometric accuracy and limiting the reliability of printed components in demanding applications. Among the printing parameters, nozzle temperature is a key variable because it influences melting behavior, interlayer diffusion, and the buildup of internal stresses, yet its role in managing shrinkage after annealing has not been clearly established. This study evaluates the influence of nozzle temperature on the anisotropic shrinkage of annealed PLA specimens across different specimen lengths and measurement directions (X and Y), with the main analysis conducted at selected nozzle temperatures ranged 195-230°C. Dimensional changes were quantified before and after annealing at 100°C for 60 min, and statistical evaluation was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with post-hoc testing based on replicated specimens. The results confirm nozzle temperature as a significant contributor to shrinkage behavior, F (2,36) = 30.90, p 0.001, partial η²=0.63. Printing at 230°C consistently yielded the smallest dimensional reduction, outperforming both 210°C and 220°C. Within the examined range, 230°C emerges as the most effective nozzle setting for minimizing annealing-induced shrinkage, offering a practical processing window to improve dimensional accuracy and functional reliability in FDM-printed PLA parts.
