Abstract

Abstract

This article examines the discourse of Free Nutritious Meals (FNM) in Indonesia through the lens of media ecology, focusing on the transformation of public space, digital identity, and cognitive patterns in the social media era. Using a qualitative approach and critical discourse analysis of social media content, this study reveals how digital platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok not only serve as information channels but also shape symbolic ecosystems that influence how society perceives issues of health, nutrition, and public policy. The findings indicate that social media has shifted the authority of nutrition discourse from experts and the government to the public, creating participatory dynamics that are vulnerable to misinformation and polarization. Digital identity is constructed through personalized narratives and visual campaigns, while public cognition is driven toward preferences for short, emotional, and viral content. This article offers policy recommendations based on ecological media literacy and sustainable platform design to support inclusive and evidence-based FNM discourse.

Abstract

This study dissects the complexity of the polemic surrounding nightlife entertainment businesses (discotheques, pubs, and karaoke) in Serang City by juxtaposing the theoretical frameworks of Urban Ecotheology and Political Philosophy analysis. Serang City, characterized as a religious city and a government center, faces a dilemma between the imperative of economic development in the tourism sector and the pressure to maintain a socio-cultural-ecological order imbued with religiosity. A qualitative research method with a critical-philosophical approach was applied through policy studies, media discourse analysis, and in-depth interviews with multi-stakeholders. The findings reveal that this polemic is not merely a simple moral conflict but a manifestation of a larger discursive struggle between the ideological concept of “halal tourism” and conventional capitalist tourism. Political philosophy analysis identifies the role of local government as both an arena and an actor experiencing internal contradictions: on one hand, it seeks to regulate in the name of public order and morality, while on the other, it is compelled to accommodate capital interests and tax revenue. From the perspective of urban ecotheology, this conflict indicates a spiritual-ecological disorientation in urban spatial governance, where space is reduced to mere economic commodity, detached from the context of community sacrality and sustainability. This study concludes that sustainable solutions require the reconstruction of tourism policies based on an “ecotheological urban planning philosophy,” a paradigm that integrates spatial justice, environmental sustainability, and local cultural resilience within a deliberative and inclusive policy framework.

Abstract

Social ontology is the philosophical study of the nature of social entities formed through collective interactions and agreements in society, as proposed by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann in The Social Construction of Reality (1966). This article analyzes the dialectical process of reality construction—externalization (the projection of human ideas onto the outside world), objectivation (social structures becoming “objective”), and internalization (individuals adopting them as reality)—as well as John Searle’s contributions on status functions such as money and institutions. Through empirical examples (fiat money, gender norms, the state as an imagined community), ethical implications (power shaping reality), and contemporary relevance (social media, the AI metaverse), the article highlights the fragility of social reality that relies on collective intentionality. A critique of relativism and recommendations for critical deconstruction are offered for the digital age of 2026. Keywords: social ontology, reality construction, Berger-Luckmann, Searle, intersubjectivity.

Abstract

Religious plurality is a social reality that cannot be avoided in modern society. The diversity of beliefs often gives rise to challenges in building harmonious relationships among religious communities, especially when theological differences intersect with social and political interests. Therefore, a religious framework of thought is needed that can respond constructively to this plural reality and is oriented towards humanitarian values. This article aims to examine the concept of interfaith relations from the perspective of Farid Esack. The study focuses on how Esack views interfaith relations not merely as a form of passive tolerance but as active solidarity based on social justice. The results of the study show that Farid Esack develops a theological perspective that is contextual and aligned with oppressed groups. According to him, interfaith relations must be realized through concrete cooperation in addressing issues of injustice, poverty, and oppression. Interfaith solidarity is understood as an expression of shared moral responsibility that does not eliminate each faith's identity but rather strengthens the commitment to the values of justice and liberation. Thus, Farid Esack's thought makes an important contribution to the development of discourse on interfaith relations in plural societies, including Indonesia, which has diverse ethnicities, cultures, and religions.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic education plays a strategic role in shaping holistic human beings by integrating intellectual, spiritual, and moral development. However, contemporary educational practices tend to emphasize cognitive achievement while neglecting the cultivation of the soul and character, which contributes to moral decline and mental health issues among students. This study aims to examine the concept of balance between soul (nafs) and intellect (‘aql) in Buya Hamka’s philosophy of Islamic education and its relevance to contemporary educational challenges. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using library research. Primary data are derived from Buya Hamka’s works, such as Tasawuf Modern and Falsafah Hidup, while secondary data are obtained from relevant scholarly literature. Data were analyzed through thematic analysis, including data reduction, theme classification, and interpretative analysis. The findings reveal that, according to Buya Hamka, ideal Islamic education must integrate intellectual development with spiritual and moral cultivation to achieve mental well-being, inner peace, and moral resilience. This concept is highly relevant to modern Islamic education, as it offers a holistic framework for integrating intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence in developing morally grounded and resilient learners.

Abstract

Integrated ruminant feeding systems utilizing agro-industrial by-products offer a sustainable solution to feed constraints in tropical livestock production. This study evaluated the physical quality and fermentation characteristics of elephant grass–based complete feed silage formulated with different proportions of tofu by-product and rice bran. A completely randomized design with four silage formulations was applied. Silage was anaerobically fermented for 21 days and assessed for organoleptic properties (aroma, color, texture, and fungal growth) and pH value. The results showed that silage formulation did not significantly affect aroma, texture, or pH (P>0.05), with all treatments exhibiting characteristics of good-quality silage, including a pleasant acidic aroma, compact texture, and acceptable pH values ranging from 3.93 to 4.50. In contrast, fungal growth and color were significantly influenced by treatment (P<0.01). Increasing the proportion of rice bran reduced fungal growth and improved silage color, indicating enhanced fermentation stability. The formulation with the highest rice bran proportion demonstrated the most favorable overall silage quality. In conclusion, elephant grass–based complete feed silage integrated with agro-industrial by-products can produce stable and high-quality silage. These findings support the development of integrated and sustainable ruminant feeding strategies that improve resource efficiency and promote circular agriculture.

Abstract

This study aims to explore students’ perspectives on the use of audio-visual media in learning English listening skills. Employing a descriptive qualitative research design, the study involved six students from Grade XI at SMAN 2 Pangkep. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and documentation. The findings indicate that students generally hold positive views toward the use of audio-visual media. They perceive it as an effective tool that enhances their engagement, increases motivation, and facilitates a better understanding of listening materials. Students reported that the combination of sound and visual elements helped them grasp meaning more easily, making the learning process more enjoyable and less monotonous. Their perspectives also highlight the role of audio-visual media in supporting active participation, reinforcing comprehension through imagery, and encouraging independent learning. These insights suggest that audio-visual media can be a valuable resource in developing English listening skills from the learners’ point of view.
