Abstract

Fisheries output need tobe increased to meet the rising demands for fish incomingyears as the increasing of human population. Biotechnology approach has used forincreasing production on aquaculture sector. One of the advances biotechnologies thatused for aquaculture development is transgens technology. Transgenic fish is a speciesthat experience alteration of genetic structure that introduced from other organisms, with the result that change the their genetic function in accordance with the introducedgene. One of the things that support the development of transgenic fish strain formationis the ability of individual transgenic to bequeath the transgenes to the next generation,so that the genetic trait target genes stable in the resulting offspring. This study aims todetect and determine the expression of growth hormone gene (PhGH) on dumbo catfish(Clarias gariepinus) transgenic F3. Transgene detection performed on embryos andlarvae of catfish transgenic F3 using PCR with primers ACT 107 and PhGH2.Transgene expression was analyzed by using reverse transcriptase polymerase chainreaction (RT-PCR) methods with primers β-actin and ACT 107 and PhGH2. Theresults showed that the transgene was detected in some of the embryos and larvaeaccording to Mendel principle. β-actin primer amplification compared to primary ACT107 and PhGH2 showed that transgene can be expressed in some of the embryos andlarvae. Keywords: biotechnology, aquaculture, transgenic, detection, expression, growthhormone

Abstract

The germination of freshwater fish has good future prospect in local andexport. One of freshwater that has a higher selling price and market demand ismuch enough in local or export is goldfish (Carracius auratus). This researchaims to get the comparison quantity of good parents for maximal spawning anddetermine the ratio of male parent and female parent of goldfish which differenton hatching and survival rate of larvae. This research method was used acompletely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The firsttreatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent 2 : 1, thesecond treatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent 3 : 1and the last treatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent4 : 1. This research was conducted in 2015 on July until August. The result of thisresearch showed that the comparison of parents quantity has significant effect onthe degree of fertilization and showed the highest hatching rates got from the lasttreatment (82. 87 %) in comparison of male parent and female parent 4 : 1 whichthe chances of sperm to fertilize an egg was greater so that the number of eggsthat hatch will also be greater and the highest survival rate of larvae and alsoobtained from the last treatment (81. 82%).Keyword: Hatching Rate, Survival Rate, Goldfish.

Abstract

Belawan Bahari village is one place that provides gulamah salty fish, the fishprocessing center in North Sumatra that facilitate the gulamah processed fish seekers.Research on this marketing strategy was conducted in March-April 2016 in Belawan BahariVillage Medan Belawan District. This study aimed to determine the condition of internalfactors, external factors and the right marketing strategy to improve the gulamah fish productprocessing business. The method used is purposive sampling with the respondents thatpurposefully chosen as many as 5 gulamah fish processors and purposefully as many as 8people at parties that play a role in the marketing process. Based on the analysis of theinternal marketing environment, which utilized the main strength of the financial aspects ofthe capital itself. While the major weaknesses in the marketing of fish processed productswere the legal aspect of the business licensing and production aspects of the campaign level.Based on the analysis of the external environment of marketing, the biggest opportunity wasin the social aspect to their business processing adds as the business opportunities for localcommunities and the main threat was on the policy aspect that was the slow response of thegovernment. Based on the SWOT analysis there were four strategies that can be implementedbased on the highest rengking ie 1) SO1 : Increase the sensitivity of the processors supportedby private capital, 2) SO2: Break the lenght marketing chain becomes shorter so that increaserevenue, 3) ST1: Provide a socialization about the comparison between fish processedopportunity and fresh fish opportunity , 4) WO1: Increase the promotion by expand into avariety of media promo and various regions and use an advanced tools.Key word: Belawan Bahari Village, Gulamah Fish, Marketing Strategy, SWOT.

Abstract

Mackerel Fish (Rastrelliger spp.) is one type of economic fish in important for the community, this type is found in the waters of the Strait of Malacca. This study has objectives on accesing growth and exploitation rates of Mackerel Fish in Malacca Strait, North Sumatera Province. This study was held in three months, from March to May 2017. Data analysis used the ELEFAN I method (Electronic Lenght Frequencys Assesment Tool) by using FiSAT II (FAO-ICLARM Fish Stock Assesment Tool) software. The samples of Mackerel Fish obtained as much 361 tail. The growth pattern of Mackerel Fish is negative allometric. The range of condition factor are 0,602 – 1,294. The range of length frequency distribution are 175 – 182 mm. Based on the growth equation of Von Bertalanffy Mackerel Fish obtained in the waters of the Straits of Malacca is Lt = 217,35{1-e-0,75(t+0,015)} which means the asymptothed length (L∞) of Mackerel Fish 217,35 growth coefficient (K) of 0,75 per year and the theoretical age (t0) Mackerel Fish that is equal to -0,015. Total mortality (Z) of Mackerel Fish of 2,837 per year.Estimation of natural mortality rate (M) of Mackerel Fish of 0,891 per year and mortality due to catch (F) of 1,946 per year. So that the result of alleged exploitation rate of 0,68 per year. Keywords: Growth, Mortality, Exploitation Rates, Rastrelliger spp, Malacca Strait

Abstract

The purpose of this research is aimed to get information for the relation of mangrove ecosystem and fishery resources in Langsa City. This research used descriptive method based on land cover, regression and correlation analysis. Types of data used in this research were primary data of observation and interview, secondary data of mangrove fish catching result and mangrove area change from Landsat. The result shown that the mangrove change area of the period from 2011 to 2016 has decreased by 84 ha as well as the production of fishery resources from mangroves was from 2011 amounted to 1,762 tons decreasing became 414.4 tons in 2016. There was a real influence between the change of mangrove forest area to the production of fishery resources as yielding the equation y = 11,82x - 46427 with the correlation coefficient 0,73. Thus, the production of fish, shrimp or crabs is influenced by the area of mangrove forest, and the more extensive mangrove forest, production is also higher. Keywords: fishery resources, mangrove, land cover, Langsa city
