Abstract

This study aims to identify the social and economic impacts of women's involvement in the Tunas Muda farmer group and to identify the implementation of the Pancasila values ​​of the third principle by women in the Tunas Muda farmer group in Sungai Manau Village. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The selection of informants in this study through purposive sampling consisting of village officials, agricultural extension workers, members of farmer groups, and local communities, through data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews and documentation studies. The validity test of this research data uses source triangulation and method triangulation techniques. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Hamberman model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the involvement of women in the Tunas Muda farmer group has a social impact in the form of increased relationships between members and increased knowledge. Meanwhile, the economic impact felt is the ease of access to loans for farmer group members and helps meet family economic needs. In addition, the implementation of the Pancasila values ​​of the third principle is seen in the practice of mutual cooperation in agricultural activities that illustrates a sense of togetherness among members, and decision making through deliberation. Thus, the Tunas Muda Farmers Group not only improves social and economic welfare, but also strengthens the values ​​of unity, togetherness, and participation in community life, thereby supporting the success of the women's empowerment process in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ creativity and collaboration through the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by the Padlet application in Civic Education (PPKn) learning. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The research was conducted in three cycles involving Grade X students at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and project assessment rubrics measuring creativity and collaboration. The findings showed a continuous improvement in students’ creativity and collaboration across the research cycles. Creativity increased from 45.59% in the pre-action stage to 88.60% in Cycle III, while collaboration improved from 36.76% to 83.00%. The integration of PjBL and Padlet encouraged active participation, idea generation, teamwork, and meaningful learning experiences. PjBL assisted by Padlet effectively enhanced students’ creativity and collaboration in Civic Education learning.

Abstract

The Jam Gadang area in Bukittinggi City serves as the tourism epicentre and the primary driver of the regional economy in West Sumatra. Post-pandemic infrastructure modernization, spatial restructuring, and massive digitalization have triggered significant socio-economic transformations for the surrounding local merchant community. This study aims to analyze the socio-economic characteristics and dissect the forms of transformation occurring among merchants in the Jam Gadang area. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through passive participant observation, documentary studies, and in-depth interviews with various merchant typologies (apparel, culinary, mobile fruit vendors, and general commodities). The results indicate that the current merchant profile is dominated by productive-age individuals with upper-secondary education and high technological adaptability. Economic transformation is highly evident in the mass migration toward digital payment systems (QRIS) and omnichannel marketing (social media), which has successfully driven upward vertical mobility for apparel and souvenir food vendors. However, this transformation has also induced economic inequality (income degradation) for tech-illiterate non-souvenir merchants, alongside the restriction of social spaces for mobile informal vendors due to the enforcement of zoning regulations. Despite tightening competition, the persistence of social capital rooted in Minangkabau kinship values through market associations proves to be a critical safety valve for merchant resilience. The Bukittinggi Municipal Government is advised to formulate humane spatial policies and inclusive digital literacy assistance to ensure that the growth of the tourism sector is equitably distributed.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by Canva on students' collaborative competence and learning outcomes in Civic Education. A quantitative approach employing a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants consisted of 52 Grade X students at Muhammadiyah Private Vocational High School Batam, Indonesia, divided into an experimental group (n = 26) and a control group (n = 26). Data were collected through a collaborative competence observation sheet and a 25-item multiple-choice test. The findings revealed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher improvements in collaborative competence and learning outcomes than the control group (p < .001). The MANOVA results also demonstrated a significant simultaneous effect with a large effect size. Therefore, Canva-assisted PjBL is an effective instructional approach for improving collaborative competence and academic achievement in Civic Education

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum represents a major reform in Indonesia’s education system, emphasizing flexible learning and student-centered instruction. This study aims to examine teachers’ adaptation to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at SD Negeri 8 Lubuklinggau. A qualitative descriptive case study design was employed. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with ten teachers teaching in Grades 1, 2, 4, and 5, as well as documentation analysis of teaching modules and learning materials. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of qualitative analysis, which comprises data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers have begun adapting by developing teaching modules, utilizing the Merdeka Mengajar Platform, and implementing more student-centered learning strategies. However, challenges remain, including limited instructional media, diverse student learning abilities, and the need for continuous professional development to support effective curriculum implementation, which can hinder the Merdeka Curriculum's overall success in enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

Abstract

The Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) and the Gerakan Indonesia Raya (Gerindra), two prominent political parties in West Sumatra, have cadre development programs. This study examines these programs' effects on organizational sustainability and election results. Despite using quite distinct cadre-building strategies, both parties remained competitive in the West Sumatra Provincial Legislative Elections of 2019 and 2024. In-depth interviews with nine key informants, including party cadres, executives, and political observers, were used in conjunction with document analysis of internal policies and training initiatives as part of a qualitative comparative approach. The analysis framework incorporates Randall and Svåsand's (2002) metrics of systemness and value infusion in addition to Huntington's (1968) four aspects of party institutionalization (adaptability, complexity, autonomy, and coherence). Results show that PKS's methodical, hierarchical cadre training cultivates cadres with strong ideological commitment, steadfast allegiance, and continuous constituent involvement, resulting in a consistent rise in votes from 389,526 in 2019 to 453,572 in 2024. The vote reduction from 476,985 (2019) to 427,177 (2024) is correlated with Gerindra's flexible, experience-driven methodology, which prioritizes electoral mobilization over organized value inculcation. These different routes highlight how party cohesion, resilience, and long-term electoral viability are influenced by the caliber of cadre development. Parties that prioritize systematic value-based training tend to produce stronger institutionalization and more durable structures over electoral cycles, however no single model is always better.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of digital poster-assisted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in improving students' creativity and learning engagement in Pancasila Education. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group was employed involving 68 tenth-grade students, equally assigned to experimental and control groups. Data were collected through observation sheets and essay tests and analyzed using paired-samples t-test, independent-samples t-test, normalized gain (N-Gain), and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The experimental group achieved significantly higher creativity (t = 14.662, p < 0.001) and learning engagement (t = 13.139, p < 0.001) than the control group. Moderate N-Gain scores were obtained for creativity (60.65%) and learning engagement (59.46%), compared with 14.43% and 15.57% in the control group. MANOVA further confirmed a significant simultaneous effect of digital poster-assisted PjBL on both variables (Wilks' Lambda = 0.158, F = 173.150, p < 0.001), with large effect sizes for creativity (η² = 0.765) and learning engagement (η² = 0.723). Digital poster-assisted PjBL is an effective student-centered instructional approach for enhancing creativity and learning engagement while supporting the development of twenty-first-century competencies in Pancasila Education

Abstract

Public awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness is one of the essential elements in the implementation of civic responsibility at the local level. In Nagari Sicincin, Padang Pariaman Regency, environmental cleanliness remains a significant issue, as evidenced by the community’s habit of disposing of waste indiscriminately in public places such as markets, roadsides, and drainage channels. This study adopts a qualitative approach with a descriptive method to analyze the ongoing social phenomena. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, involving community members, community leaders, and village officials as informants. The results of the study indicate that the lack of public awareness is influenced by both internal and external factors. Internal factors include indifferent attitudes, laziness, and the perception that cleanliness is solely the responsibility of the government. Meanwhile, external factors include inadequate infrastructure, limited cleanliness programs, and weak socialization and law enforcement. The consequences of this situation are environmental degradation, increased health risks, and disruptions to community social activities. Therefore, collaborative efforts are needed through environmental education, the provision of adequate facilities, and the strengthening of civic responsibility values to create a clean, healthy, and sustainable environment.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to explore the implementation of the Margondang tradition, identify the factors sustaining its existence, and examine its social implications within the Mandailing community of Sihapas Barumun District, Padang Lawas Regency, Indonesia. Methods: A qualitative study employing a phenomenological approach was conducted using purposive sampling. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews with customary leaders, religious leaders, village officials, youth representatives, and community members, as well as document analysis. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data collection, reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Results: The findings revealed that Margondang comprises six interconnected ritual stages that reinforce customary governance, kinship solidarity, and cultural identity. Its continuity is sustained by strong adherence to customary values, collective participation, and the integration of cultural and religious principles, while simultaneously strengthening social cohesion and intergenerational cultural transmission. Conclusions: Margondang remains a resilient cultural institution that preserves indigenous knowledge and community identity while adapting to contemporary social change.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of parental supervision through Google Family Link, examine children’s responses to technology-assisted digital parenting, and identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation among families in Sukarami District, Palembang. Responding to growing concerns about children’s smartphone use, excessive screen time, digital addiction, and exposure to inappropriate online content, this study employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through non-participant observation, semi-structured interviews with parents, children, and other family members, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings show that Google Family Link was implemented through screen-time management, application approval and restriction, activity monitoring, location tracking, and remote device control. Children’s responses varied from initial resistance to gradual acceptance as parents explained the purpose of digital supervision and involved them in establishing family digital rules. The study also found that parents’ digital literacy, family communication, consistency, and application usability supported effective implementation, whereas children’s resistance, technical limitations, unstable connectivity, and parents’ occupational demands constrained supervision. These findings indicate that Google Family Link functions not merely as a parental control application but as a social medium through which parents construct digital discipline, strengthen supervision, and foster responsible gadget use. However, the qualitative and context-specific design limits generalization; future studies should examine long-term outcomes across broader family, cultural, and socioeconomic settings.
