Abstract

Sebelas Maret University Surakarta declared itself a Pancasila Fortress Campus, one of its objectives being to prevent the recurrence of events that undermined the Pancasila ideology in the past, including radicalism and intolerance; this was announced when UNS commemorated Pancasila Day on 1 October 2018. As a consequence of this declaration, UNS has constructed six places of worship located in a single area, namely: Mosques, Catholic churches, Christian churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Chinese temples. This study uses qualitative methods, with data collection techniques using document studies or documentation, namely from books and articles related to the challenges of Pancasila as the ideology and foundation of the Republic of Indonesia.  In efforts to strengthen itself as a Pancasila Fortress Campus, there are several programs and activities that have been and continue to be implemented, including Pancasila Education lectures; Citizenship Education; and the establishment of the Pancasila Implementation Study Centre (PSPP). The challenges faced by UNS as a Pancasila Fortress Campus include individualism, market liberalism, radicalism, religious fundamentalism; the weakening of the practice and actualisation of Pancasila; and the lack of Pancasila role models.

Abstract

The Environment is one of the factors influencing the development and productivity of the bee colony. Favourable environment will significantly support bee productivity. The factors which influence the bees activity include temperature, humidity, light intensity, wind speed, rainfall, and food availability. The aims of this study are to know the influence of environmental factors on activity and propolis production of stingless bees. This study used six colonies of Tetragonula laeviceps into two different locations, monoculture and polyculture nutmeg farm. The method used is a direct observation of the activities and propolis production of stingless bee and analyzed by t-test. The study results of T. laeviceps in monoculture and polyculture farms showed that the activity of the bees was influenced by environmental factors influencing propolis production. The activities would start when the temperatures ranged from 22-23 oC, humidity 70-88%, and light intensity 183-4344 lux. The peak activity of the bees occurred at the temperatures of 26-28 oC, humidity 55-71%, and light intensity 46.875-91.347 lux. The propolis produced by T. laeviceps was 27.79 g in the monoculture farm and 48.80 g in the polyculture farm. The significant difference was predominantly due to the environmental factors.

Abstract

Earthworms are nocturnal animals and have negative phototaxis, therefore the presence and color of light are thought to affect the performance of this Lumbricus rubellus earthworm. This study aims to analyze the effect of different color lights on Lumbricus rubellus performance. This study used acompletely randomized design (RAL), six color treatments (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple, and dark as a control) and three replications with variables observed were weight gain, media weight, number of segments to the clitellum, and the number of cocoons. The results showed that the six types of color had different effects on the performance of the earthworm Lumbricus rubellus. The red color lights had a better effect on the weight of the earthworm, the number of cocoons and the number of segments compared to other colors, while the yellow color had a lower effect.

Abstract

Composting and mixing organic and inorganic materials are among the abilities of earthworms. The survival of earthworms is influenced by several environmental factors, including media temperature, media pH, media moisture, media texture, and media nutrient content. Shellfish shells are underutilized waste that is increasing in quantity as more people consume food from the sea. This study aims to analyze the productivity of earthworms (Pheretima sp.) using a combination of cow dung and green shellfish shells as a cultivation media. The study uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with four treatments and three replications, and the obtained results are analyzed using the Tukey test. The observed parameters are temperature, moisture, pH, total body weight, population, cocoon count, and media depletion. The results of the study show a significant (P<0.05) on the use of green shellfish shells in all measured parameters. The treatment P1 increase the body weight of earthworms (Pheretima sp.) by 33.3 grams and resulted in a media loss 262.67 grams. The use of green mussel shell flour at a concentration of ≥ 10% can increase the productivity of soil worms.
