Abstract

The instruction of Manufacturing Technical Drawings remains predominantly teacher-centered, lacking diversity in methodologies, thereby causing students to perceive the subject as challenging. This challenge primarily stems from their struggles in comprehending CAD drawing concepts, interpreting existing drawings, and understanding the functionalities of tools in the AutoCAD application, as outlined in the job sheet. Consequently, students' learning achievements fall short of the minimum passing standards SMK Negeri 1 Tanjung Raya set. This research aims to evaluate the impact of project-based learning on learning outcomes in manufacturing technical drawings and assess the quality of instructional tools employed. The study involves two groups, experimental and control groups, selected through cluster random sampling. Data collection includes pretests administered before the instructional intervention and post-tests conducted after both groups receive different treatments. Results reveal that students in the experimental group attain significantly higher average scores than the control group, indicating a substantial influence of project-based learning on learning outcomes. This approach enhances students' understanding, engagement, and critical thinking abilities within the subject area.

Abstract

Kabupaten Agam memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor peternakan, namun ketersediaan pakan hijauan seringkali menjadi kendala utama bagi para peternak, terutama saat musim kemarau. Salah satu alternatif yang dapat dikembangkan adalah pemanfaatan pelepah daun sawit sebagai sumber pakan ternak. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi bagi peternak dalam menghadapi tantangan ketersediaan pakan hijauan dengan memanfaatkan limbah perkebunan sawit yang melimpah di daerah tersebut. Metode yang digunakan meliputi sosialisasi dan pelatihan teknis mengenai proses pengolahan pelepah daun sawit agar dapat dijadikan pakan ternak yang bernutrisi. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa pelepah daun sawit yang diolah melalui proses pencacahan dan fermentasi dapat meningkatkan kualitas nutrisinya, sehingga layak sebagai alternatif pakan untuk ternak ruminansia. Selain itu, program ini juga mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan peternak dalam mengelola sumber daya lokal sebagai pakan ternak, yang berpotensi mengurangi biaya operasional dan meningkatkan keberlanjutan usaha peternakan. Diharapkan dengan adanya program ini, kesejahteraan para peternak di Kabupaten Agam dapat meningkat melalui pemanfaatan pelepah daun sawit sebagai pakan ternak yang terjangkau dan berkelanjutan

Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of cooling load on condenser performance in the  Steam Power Plant. The condenser, as a heat exchanger, plays a critical role in condensing steam from the turbine back into liquid form, thus maintaining the continuous cycle of the steam power system. Survey-based research was conducted, with data collected on steam and cooling water temperatures at various stages. The steam inlet and outlet temperatures were recorded at 514°C and 465°C, respectively, with cooling water entering at 32.9°C and exiting at 38.9°C at a flow rate of 100 m³/h. Using the Log Mean Temperature Difference method, initial and final temperature differences were calculated at 453°C and 465°C. Results suggest that tube fouling or leakage contributes to declining condenser efficiency, which can significantly reduce power plant performance. This study highlights the importance of regular maintenance and monitoring of condenser units to optimize thermal efficiency and power generation output.

Abstract

Learning in several vocational schools uses Autodesk software which has many features and is also widely used in industry. The change in the use of the 2013 curriculum at SMK N 5 Padang will certainly change the learning concept which originally used the 2013 curriculum to become an independent curriculum. Curriculum changes require teachers to prepare new media or teaching materials in accordance with the established curriculum. The aim to be achieved in the research is to develop a PJBL (Project Based Learning) based learning tool for the Manufacturing Engineering Drawing subject with the hope that this module can be used in schools as a learning medium. This research uses the R&D method with the ADDIE development model. Material expert validation was carried out by 3 experts in the field of production materials. The percentage of presentation aspects is 1.0 and the percentage of content aspects is 0.97. The percentage of validation results for all aspects is 0.98 in the very valid category. Validation of media experts and models was carried out by 3 experts in the media field. The percentage of the visual appearance aspect is 0.96, the physical criteria aspect is 0.93 and the convenience aspect is 1.0. The percentage of media expert validation results from all aspects is 0.96, very valid research category. Language expert validation was carried out by 1 expert in the field, consisting of 8 items. The percentage of language expert validation is 0.87 in the very valid category, so this teaching module is said to be very good for use in the learning process by future researchers.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L) is a horticultural commodity classified as a spice vegetable. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, shallot production in Indonesia in 2021 reached 2.01 million tons. This figure increased by 10.42 percent compared to the 2020 production which reached 189.15 thousand tons. Fried shallots are one of the processed forms of shallots which in the manufacturing process go through the slicing stage. Research on this onion slicing machine has been done a lot. Similar research discusses analyzing the development of a more efficient slicing machine. Things that must be considered in the process of making slicing machine construction are the number of blades, power consumption, time and slice results. The purpose of this research is to be able to analyze variations in the number of blades properly for onion slicing machines and find out their effect on power consumption, slicing time and slice results. This research uses the Experiment research method with the help of Microsoft Excel 2019 software. The results showed that the greater the variation in the number of blades, the lower the power consumption and slicing time and it was found that the level of damage to the sliced results was greater the more the number of blades. The conclusion of this research is that the greater the variation in the number of blades, the lower the power consumption and slicing time. The sharpness and length of the blade affect the results of sliced onions.

Abstract

Pengendalian gulma pada tanaman padi merupakan salah satu langkah penting dalam meningkatkan produktivitas pertanian dan kualitas hasil panen. Kendala yang dihadapi para petani adalah metode penyiangan yang masih konvensional, memakan waktu lama, dan memerlukan tenaga kerja yang banyak. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan teknologi tepat guna berupa inovasi alat penyiang gulma padi yang dirancang khusus untuk kelompok tani (Gapoktan) Mekar Sari di Kenagarian Andiang. Inovasi ini menggunakan pendekatan mekanis yang efisien, mudah dioperasikan, dan hemat energi sehingga dapat mendukung kegiatan penyiangan gulma lebih efektif dan efisien. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan petani, desain dan pembuatan alat, serta pelatihan penggunaan alat penyiang gulma padi kepada anggota Gapoktan. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa alat penyiang gulma padi yang telah dikembangkan mampu meningkatkan efisiensi waktu dan tenaga kerja hingga 50% dibandingkan metode tradisional. Selain itu, penerapan teknologi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas produksi padi melalui pengurangan persaingan antara tanaman padi dan gulma. Secara keseluruhan, inovasi alat ini memberikan dampak positif dalam menunjang ketahanan pangan lokal serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan petani melalui efisiensi dan peningkatan hasil pertanian

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan inovasi alat perontok biji jagung dengan sistem therese rotari, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas dalam proses perontokan biji jagung bagi masyarakat di Jorong 4 Surabayo, Lubuk Basung. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat setempat adalah keterbatasan alat yang efektif dalam memisahkan biji jagung dari tongkolnya secara cepat dan tepat. Oleh karena itu, alat therese rotari ini dirancang dengan konsep rotasi untuk memaksimalkan proses perontokan, mengurangi waktu yang diperlukan, serta meminimalisir tenaga kerja manual. Alat ini dilengkapi dengan mekanisme berputar yang memanfaatkan motor listrik sebagai penggerak utama, sehingga dapat digunakan oleh masyarakat dengan mudah. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa therese rotari mampu meningkatkan produktivitas hingga 70% dibandingkan metode manual tradisional. Inovasi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan dampak positif bagi masyarakat setempat, terutama dalam meningkatkan efisiensi dan pendapatan petani jagung.

Abstract

Permasalahan sampah plastik di Kenagarian Maninjau semakin mendesak perhatian, mengingat dampak negatifnya terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan masyarakat. Untuk menjawab kebutuhan ini, program pengabdian masyarakat dilaksanakan dengan memperkenalkan inovasi mesin pencacah plastik yang dirancang untuk mendukung kegiatan daur ulang sampah plastik secara efektif dan efisien. Mesin pencacah ini diharapkan mampu mengurangi volume sampah plastik, memudahkan proses pengelolaan sampah, serta meningkatkan nilai ekonomis bagi masyarakat melalui pengolahan limbah plastik menjadi bahan baku produk baru. Program ini melibatkan proses pembuatan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan penggunaan mesin pencacah bagi masyarakat setempat. Metode pengabdian mencakup tahap perencanaan, pelatihan teknis, dan evaluasi keberhasilan program melalui pengukuran efektivitas mesin dalam mengurangi limbah plastik. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kapasitas daur ulang sampah plastik serta memberikan dampak positif terhadap kesadaran masyarakat dalam menjaga lingkungan. Dengan inovasi ini, diharapkan Kenagarian Maninjau dapat menjadi model dalam pengelolaan sampah plastik berbasis masyarakat yang mandiri dan berkelanjutan

Abstract

Banjir bandang (galodo) yang sering terjadi di Sumatera Barat, khususnya di Nagari Batipuh Baruah, Kecamatan Batipuh, Kabupaten Tanah Datar, telah menyebabkan kerusakan infrastruktur, tempat tinggal, fasilitas umum, dan lahan pertanian, sehingga berdampak pada kondisi sosial dan ekonomi masyarakat. Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Padang (UNP) melaksanakan program pengabdian masyarakat untuk membantu pemulihan lingkungan dan sosial pascabencana. Kegiatan ini melibatkan dosen, mahasiswa, dan organisasi kemahasiswaan, dengan metode pembersihan fasilitas umum, aliran sungai, tempat ibadah, serta penyaluran bantuan logistik melalui pendekatan gotong royong. Hasil kegiatan meliputi pemulihan rumah warga, lahan pertanian, dan fasilitas umum, yang berkontribusi terhadap percepatan rehabilitasi. Program ini juga memperkuat hubungan antara perguruan tinggi dan masyarakat. Publikasi kegiatan di media turut mendukung citra positif UNP sebagai institusi peduli kemanusiaan. Disarankan pembentukan tim tanggap bencana yang lebih terorganisir untuk efektivitas penanganan di masa depan

Abstract

Sustaining and enhancing the quality of education presents a significant challenge. Many education systems face problems such as inappropriate curricula, lack of qualified teachers, and inadequate teaching methods. This study aims to determine the significance of PBI learning materials by video assistance. The subjects of this research were 70 people from SMK Negeri 1 Guguk. Quasi-experimental design, test-sheet research tools, validity, reliability, normalcy, homogeneity, and independent t-tests are the research methods employed. In this study, the experimental class achieved a post-test score of 76.89, compared to 64.49 for the control class. This proves that the treatment given by PBI learning has an impact on academic performance of student in the experimental group were contrasted with those in the group under supervision, who were not given any intervention. As for the outcomes of the normality test wich was carried out, the data obtained a normal distribution value of sig> 0.05, the results of the homogeneity test obtained post-test data greater than (sig>0.05), the variance was homogeneous, and the independent t-test results were obtained at 6.674. then the T Test result is 0.00 in accordance by the provisions of the sig value (2-tailed) <0.05). Consequently, it was determined that the cognitive aspects of students regarding the impact Considering the use of the PBI learning model with video assistance on the learning results of Basic Welding and Metal Fabrication Techniques for Class study control class 64.49 and experimental class 76.89.
