Abstract

ABSTRACTMany EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classrooms all around the globe are full of students with individual differences. Evidently, the students possess individual differences because they come from various settings with diverse backgrounds. The divergences among students might be unique in nature and they could possibly affect the English teaching and learning process. One of the clear examples is the fact that not all learning instructions provided by teachers are effective in accommodating the differences in the classroom. This situation leads to the emergence of implementing differentiated instruction, often believed to be able to give the students equal chances to learn and experience English effectively at their full potential. This library-based paper reviews several previous practices of differentiated instruction in English classrooms. Further, it attempts to examine how differentiated instruction has been implemented in various EFL contexts. It also attempts to reveal the fundamental reasons behind the success of differentiated instruction in the many English classrooms by relating theories and practices of the previous research studies focused on the topic. This paper ends with a summary of the various findings and discusses it in the light of theories and literatures in differentiated instruction with a particular interest in EFL settings.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve the critical thinking skill and students’ learning achievement of X grade MIPA 1 in the material of redox reaction in one of senior high school of Surakarta through the application of Guided Discovery learning models that assisted by concept of hierarchy. The type of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). Subjects of this research were X grade MIPA 1. The technique of collecting data were taken by observation, interviews, document, questionnaires, and tests. The data validity of this research was tested by using triangulation technique. The result of this research showed that guided discovery learning model was assisted by concept of hierarchy could improved critical thinking skill (65.63% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle) and students’ learning achievement (on knowledge aspect was 43.75% in the first cycle to 90.63% in the second cycle) in the material of redox reaction. While the aspect of attitude showed that there was improvement of percentage from 90.63% in the first cycle to 100% in the second cycle. Percentage of skill aspect was 100% in the first cycle.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh: (1) Model pembelajaran (inkuiri terbimbing dan model pembelajaran Learning Cycle 4E (LC 4E)) terhadap prestasi  belajar siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan; (2) Kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali ke-larutan; dan (3) Interaksi model pembelajaran (inkuiri terbimbing dan model pembel-ajaran LC 4E) dengan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap prestasi belajar siswa pada materi  kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperi-men dengan desain faktorial 2x2. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes dan  angket. Uji hipotesis menggunakan ANAVA dua jalan dengan bantuan aplikasi SPSS 18. Hasil penelitian disimpulkan: (1) Prestasi pengetahuan dan sikap siswa pada model LC 4E lebih baik dibandingkan model inkuri terbimbing. Hal ini ditunjukkan dari rera-ta masing-masing untuk aspek pengetahuan 78,85 dan 60, 82 serta aspek sikap 3,91 dan 3,27; sedangkan prestasi keterampilan tidak ada pengaruh model pembelajaran terhadap prestasi siswa; (2) Tidak ada pengaruh kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap prestasi pengetahuan, sikap maupun keterampilan siswa; dan (3) Tidak ada interaksi antara model LC 4E dan inkuiri terbimbing terhadap prestasi pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan siswa.

Abstract

This article examines the development of an English textbook prototype for vocational high school (VHS) students of the Hotel Accommodation study program. Employing a research and development study design involving several steps of procedure: needs analysis, product development, product validation, product revision, product tryout, and final product development. The results of this research were there units of learning material, in which the content of materials and the topics mostly made related to the hotel fields by covering relevant daily activities and current issues and including various types of activities that cover the four English skills. According to the results of the field-testing, the units designed were eligible to be applied in the instructional process as indicated by the mean scores of the students’ agreement ranging from 4.2 to 5 on 5 to 1 Likert scale. This textbook prototype offers an insight to what English learning materials for Hotel Accommodation Study Program is supposed to be. Thus, it is an alternative model of learning material for teaching English for VHS.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Arsitektur merupakan bidang ilmu yang akan terus mengalami perkembangan dari masa ke masa. Perkembangan tersebut melahirkan banyak aliran atau gaya dari Arsitektur itu sendiri. Salah satu gaya yang menyita perhatian dengan banyaknya pro dan kontra terkait gayanya yang tidak biasa, adalah Arsitektur Dekonstruksi. Gaya tersebut terinspirasi oleh dua peristiwa yang sedang popular pada waktu itu yaitu paham deconstruction Derrida terkait tata bahasa dan gerakan Konstruktivisme di Rusia di bidang seni rupa. Gaya yang tidak biasa pada Arsitektur Dekonstruksi bisa diketahui melalui konsepnya. Dalam telaah konsep Arsitektur Dekonstruksi ini menggunakan metode analisis terhadap isi dari pandangan, komentar, umpan balik dan pemikiran mengikuti taktik dari studi kualitatif. Studi analisis dilakukan pada karya-karya Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid dan Frank O. Gehry. Telaah tersebut mengarahkan pada satu benang merah yaitu setiap tokoh-tokoh Arsitektur dekonstruksi sama-sama tidak mau terkekang pada satu aturan baku dan menuntut hal-hal yang baru pada setiap desainnya. Kata Kunci: Dekonstruksi, Dekonstruktivis ABSTRACT. Architecture is a field of science that will continue to experience development from time to time. These developments create many styles of architecture itself. One style that has drawn attention with the pros and cons of its unusual style is Deconstruction Architecture. The style was inspired by two events that were popular at the time, namely Derrida's deconstructionism related to grammar and the Constructivism movement in Russia in the field of fine arts. The unusual style of Deconstruction Architecture can be known through the concept. In the study of the concept of Deconstruction Architecture uses the method of analysis of the contents of the views, comments, feedback and thoughts following the tactics of qualitative studies. Analysis studies were carried out on the works of Daniel Libeskind, Zaha Hadid and Frank O. Gehry. Abstract

ABSTRAK. Kawasan terminal depok merupakan kawasan padat transportasi pada waktu siang hari yang diakibatkan oleh berhentinya angkot di sembarang tempat untuk menaikkan dan menurunkan penumpang. Oleh karna itu, terminal bus dan stasiun kereta api merupakan solusi untuk mengatasi kemacetan di kawasan kota Depok. Dengan adanya terminal maka jumlah angkutan umum dapat ditata agar tidak ada angkutan umum yang berhenti di sembarang tempat untuk menaikkan dan menurunkan penumpang. Terminal bus yang akan direncanakan adalah terminal dalam kota dan antar kota. Konsep yang akan direncanakan dalam mendesain suatu kawasan transportasi di kota Depok adalah menggabungkan dua moda transportasi yaitu stasiun kereta api dan terminal bus dalam satu kawasan dengan konsep arsitektur hijau yang saling berhubungan dengan fasilitas-fasilitas yang memadai dan lengkap. Permasalahan yang dihadapi dalam merancang adalah bagaimana merancang dan merencanakan stasiun kereta api dan terminal terpadu di kota Depok yang sesuia dengan konsep-konsep arsitektur hijau. Kata Kunci: Arsitektur Hijau, Depok, Stasiun Kereta Api, Terminal Bus ABSTRACT. Depok Terminal is an intensive area of transportation during the day which is caused by the stop of public transportation in any place to pick the passengers up and down. Because of it, bus terminal and train station are the solution to resolve the traffic’s problem in Depok. By the terminal, the number of public transportation can be arranged so that there is no public transportation stop in any place. Bus terminal which will be planned is an inner city and inter city terminals. The concept that will be planned in design of transportation area in Depok is combining two kinds of the public transportation which are train station and bus terminal in an area with green architecture concept which are connected to the complete facilities. The problem which is faced in designing is how to create and plan the train station and integrated terminal in Depok in accordance with the green architecture concept. Keywords: Green Architecture, Depok, Railway Station, Bus Station

Abstract

In the era of standard-based education which is marked by the reforms in many areas of education including curriculum, it is necessary to understand how Indonesian EFL teachers coped with curricular change in the course of their profession. This study attempts to discover how EFL teachers in Indonesia perceive the curricular changes through their beliefs, attitudes, and practices. Employing an on-line survey combined with semi-structured individual interviews, the qualitative study began with mapping EFL teachers’ generic perceptions towards curricular change. The initial map was then used to probe major emergent themes through individual interviews on purposively selected participants. The result showed that: (1) teachers’ belief was perceived to reshape through adequate socialization and training. (2), it took time to witness teachers’ belief formation and eventually attitudinal change, and (3) as their beliefs and practices were reshaped, teachers’ practice was highly likely to change moreover when improvement in learning gains were achieved by the students. However, the latter is often dismayed by the implementation of high-stakes testing (The National Examinations). This article is closed with relevant recommendations based on the particular findings. Abstract

Pemahaman dan pengenalan tanda dalam arsitektur ialah salah satu ilmu dasar dalam pengajaran arsitektur yang lebih diketahui dengan istilah semiotik. Pengenalan tanda dari suatu bangunan merupakan suatu bentuk komunikasi di dalam arsitektur, dan yang paling mudah diterapkan ialah terhadap bentuk fisik/fasade suatu bangunan. Arsitektur semiotik berkonsep menyelaraskan simbol/tanda sebagai media komunikasi untuk menghadirkan sebuah kenyataan yang terjadi pada bangunan maupun di sekitarnya. Metode penelitian ini menerapkan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, sebab penelitian ini berfokus pada pemahaman terhadap fenomena sosial yang terjadi di masyarakat. Pendekatan yang diterapkan pada penelitian ini merupakan pendekatan studi kasus (Case Study). Pendekatan ini memfokuskan diri secara intensif pada suatu objek tertentu dan mempelajarinya sebagai suatu kasus. Jenis penelitian ini juga merupakan jenis penelitian dengan sistem melihat fakta-fakta maupun ilustrasi suatu keadaan yang ada dan kemudian dianalisa dengan mendeskripsikan serta mengidentifikasikan setiap aspek yang ada. Hasil penelitian berupa pencarian dan penentuan tanda-tanda indeks berupa representamen yang mewakili objek pada studi kasus dan dilakukan dengan cara berjenjang lingkupnya. Kesimpulan mengenai penerapan konsep arsitektur semiotik Tanda Indeks pada bangunan gedung pertunjukan yang telah dikaji mempunyai bentuk tanda-tanda indeks yang muncul dan terlihat pada setiap jenis lingkupnya yaitu : mulai dari lingkup lingkungan, lingkup tapak bangunan, lingkup bangunan bagian luar maupun dalam, dan lingkup elemen bangunan

Abstract

Indonesia dibentuk oleh wilayah-wilayah yang memiliki bermacam-macam karakteristik, bahasa, nilai-nilai, dan simbol-simbol yang unik dan berasal dari budaya masyarakat Indonesia. Sebagai warga negara Indonesia, hal tersebut dapat menjadi sebuah kebanggaan dan harus tetap selalu melestarikannya. Ada beberapa cara dalam rangka menjaga kebudayaan di Indonesia, tak terkecuali di bidang arsitektur. Terlebih mulai diliriknya Indonesia untuk menjadi tuan rumah pada perhelatan ajang olahraga besar. Penyampaian pesan simbolik pada bangunan olahraga, merupakan salah satu cara dalam memperkenalan budaya Indonesia pada dunia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan survey primer berupa observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka, dan dokumentasi. Metode observasi dilakukan untuk mengetahui simbol bangunan di bangunan olahraga. Metode pengambilan data pada penelitian ini adalah dengan cara mengamati beberapa elemen-elemen seperti lantai, dinding, dan atap bangunan olahraga yang diduga memiliki simbol yang memiliki ciri khas budaya. Hal. Maka penilitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami konsep simbolik yang mengandung makna dari unsur budaya Indonesia, serta penerapannya pada bangunan olahraga.

Abstract

Abstrak: Keteraturan pada sebuah desain arsitektur sangatlah penting. Hal tersebut sudah menjadi hal yang sudah umum sejak zaman dahulu hingga sekarang. Konsep arsitektur yang sangat berkaitan erat dengan keteraturan dan bentuk adalah konsep arsitektur kanonik. Konsep arsitektur kanonik memiliki ciri perancangan bentuk melalui kaidah-kaidah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitan ini adalah jenis metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Metode kualitatif deskrptif/naratif disini maksudnya adalah metode penelitian dimana peneliti melihat kondisi nyata objek penelitian yang akan diteliti secara tidak langsung untuk selanjutnya dilakukan analisis dengan dideskripsikan dengan bentuk narasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah memberikan gambaran kondisi dari kenyataan yang sesuai dan terjadi pada konsep arsitektur kanonik. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah bangunan studi kasus gedung konvvensi yaitu MEETT Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Centre memiliki ciri arsitektur kanonik yaitu Geometris, Modular, Kekokohan dan Estetika.Kata kunci: Arsitektur Kanonik, Keterarturan, Gedung KonvensiTitle: Application Of Canonic Architecture Concepts, Case Study: MEETT Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Center Building, France.Abstract: Regularity in an architectural design is very important. This has become a common thing since ancient times until now. Architectural concepts that are closely related to order and form are canonical architectural concepts. The concept of canonical architecture has the characteristic of designing forms by means of rules. The research method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative research method. Descriptive / narrative qualitative method here means a research method where the researcher sees the real condition of the object of research to be studied indirectly for further analysis described in narrative form. The purpose of this study is to provide a description of the conditions of reality that are appropriate and occur in the concept of canonical architecture. The result of this research is that the case study building of a convention building, namely MEETT Toulouse Exhibition and Convention Center, has canonical architectural features, namely geometric, modular, robustness and aesthetics.Keywords: Canonical Architecture, regularity, Convention Center
