Abstract

Abstract

Almost every nation has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of people infected with COVID-19 is increasing every day, causing concern in numerous social circles. Starting with the implementation of the lockdown, the PSBB continued and virtually all activities were prohibited by governments in virtually every country on earth, it was alleged, and the number of people exposed to COVID-19 increased. Despite the fact that previously there was a great deal of news based on the assumptions of the community, whether it was generated by rogue elements who exploited the Covid-19 situation for financial gain or becausethere were people who directly experienced the effects of Covid-19, this is no longer the case. The effects of Covid-19 can no longer be overlooked; not only do physical health problems represent a threat to life but so does mental health, which has far-reaching consequences for society as a whole. Before Covid-19, greeting or introducing oneself by shaking hands was a cultural norm in Indonesia, but it has become an issue for many people. In this study, the author uses a qualitative approach, which simplifies his work, to demonstrate how covid-19 has affected (physical and mental) health and socialization in society.

Abstract

Phuggery is a form of social crime that disturbs society and often arises due to economic inequality, social marginalisation, and weak structural policies to overcome it. In practice, the state's legal response to thugs tends to focus on a repressive and symbolic approach through law enforcement and criminalisation operations alone, without touching on the more complex roots of the problem. This study aims to examine the direction and strategy of Indonesian legal politics in addressing the phenomenon of thugs and to analyse alternative policies based on critical criminology and Islamic legal values. The research method employed is a normative qualitative approach with a conceptual and comparative focus. Data sources comprise primary legal materials, such as laws, police regulations, the Qur'an, and hadith, as well as secondary legal materials, including books, scientific journals, interpretations, and criminology literature. The analysis was conducted descriptively and critically, utilizing the theoretical framework of critical criminology and fiqh al-jinayah (Islamic criminal law). The results of the study indicate that thugs cannot be overcome only with the coercive power of the state, but instead require a structural and ethical approach that supports social justice. Critical criminology critiques the labelling of the lower class, while Islamic law emphasises the principles of ta’zīr, correction (islāh), and preventive justice. Thus, integrating critical criminology approaches and Islamic values can be the basis for a more humanistic and sustainable legal policy reform. Abstract

Enshrining Islamic law in writing, particularly in the context of marriage, is a crucial step in transforming fiqh law into positive law in Muslim countries. This codification process reveals not only formal legal efforts but also the evolving nature of legal politics, the direction of state philosophy, and how the state responds to social demands. Islamic marriage law can be codified in various ways, including textual-normative, contextual, and progressive approaches. These differences are due to the ideological, legal, and social conditions of each country. The goal of this study is to examine the connection between legal politics and the codification of Islamic marriage law, investigate the philosophical basis for the practice of taqnin, and compare the methods of codification employed in Muslim countries such as Indonesia, Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt. This study uses a qualitative, normative, and comparative legal approach, as well as a conceptual, historical, and comparative legal approach. The primary sources of data are official legal documents, including the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), Mudawwanah al-Usrah, the Code du Statut Personnel, and the Egyptian Family Law. Secondary sources include books, academic journals, and studies of Islamic legal philosophy. The study's results indicate that legal politics plays a significant role in determining how to codify Islamic marriage law. The state's legal philosophy—whether it is conservative-textual, moderate-contextual, or progressive-normative—has a substantial impact on how it handles taqnin. The principles of maqashid al-shari'ah, such as justice, protection of life, property, and honour, as well as the ability to address the challenges of social pluralism, gender equality, and the legal needs of modern society, are what make codification successful. The results suggest that the future of Islamic law should incorporate a blend of legal philosophy, inter-school dialogue, and interdisciplinary studies. Abstract

This study aims to determine improvements in mathematical representation ability and self-efficacy in ratio material among fifth-grade elementary school students using Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs). This research employs a mixed-method approach with a quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group design. The experimental group received treatment using Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs), while the control group was taught using conventional learning methods. Data collection techniques in this study included tests, questionnaires, documentation, observation, and interviews. Data analysis consisted of descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, and final hypothesis testing (T-test, Z-test, mean difference test, and gain test). The results of this study indicate that Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) have a significant effect on the mathematical representation ability of fifth-grade students in the Sultan Agung cluster in the ratio material. This is demonstrated by the analysis results using the paired sample t-test, which produced a t-value (t_calculated) greater than the t-table value (13.047 > 2.145). Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) are effective in improving students’ mathematical representation ability, as shown by the independent sample t-test results, where t_calculated was greater than the t-table value (2.52 > 2.048). There is a significant difference in self-efficacy between students who received MEA-based learning and those who received conventional learning. The analysis using the independent samples t-test showed that the t-calculated values for self-efficacy were 2.935, 2.522, 2.699, and 2.871 for the magnitude, strength, and generality dimensions, respectively. Given that the t-table value was 2.048, it can be concluded that the t-calculated values for the self-efficacy questionnaire results in the experimental and control classes, across the dimensions of magnitude, strength, and generality, were greater than the t-table value.

Abstract

This article examines the mainstreaming of sports in pesantren through a Sport-Based Empowerment (SBE) approach combined with institutional legal compliance as the foundation for sustainable implementation. Given that traditional pesantrens have long focused on religious studies and moral formation—resulting in insufficiently structured physical education—this study highlights the need to integrate sports into the holistic education of santri. Sports are positioned not merely as physical activity, but also as a medium for shaping Islamic character, leadership, cooperation, and mental resilience, in alignment with spiritual values such as discipline, brotherhood, and social responsibility. The study employs a qualitative method based on library research to analyze literature on sports empowerment, Islamic pedagogy, and educational regulations, including Law Number 18 of 2019 on Pesantren and standards for santri protection. The findings indicate that the role of sports in pesantren remains marginal, influenced by academic–religious traditions and limited facilities, yet holds significant potential if integrated into curricula and pesantren activities. The legal framework is shown to be a determining factor in ensuring that sports implementation complies with safety standards, governance requirements, and the rights of santri. The developed SBE model emphasizes the synergy between empowering santri through physical activities and legal compliance, thereby positioning sports as a means to improve health, reduce physical and mental disparities, and strengthen the institutional image and competitiveness of pesantren.

Abstract

Modernity has brought significant changes in social, cultural, and legal structures in various parts of the world, including in multicultural societies. One of the main challenges that arise is the conflict of values in the application of customary criminal law. Customary criminal law, which has long been an integral part of traditional people's lives, now faces pressure from a modern legal system that tends to be universal and based on human rights. This study aims to analyze the dilemmas arising from the tension between the two legal systems, focusing on how customary criminal law is applied in a multicultural society, where diverse cultural and religious values often clash. In this context, the application of customary criminal law often faces challenges in maintaining a balance between maintaining local values and accommodating the principles of modernity, such as gender equality, individual rights, and social justice. This research suggests the need for a more inclusive and dialogical approach between customary law and state law in order to create a legal system that is responsive to cultural diversity, without neglecting the basic principles of human rights.

Abstract

Purpose - This article aims to analyze the reconstruction of Islamic-based marriage law politics through a comparative approach between the legal traditions of the Middle East and Southeast Asia. The study examines how legal politics shapes the codification of family law and the extent to which reconstruction is needed to address the challenges of justice and modernity. Method - This study employs a normative-comparative method, drawing on a legal politics approach and comparative Islamic law. The data are drawn from primary legal materials (marriage laws, Islamic legal compilations, and family regulations in Muslim-majority countries) and secondary legal materials, including academic literature. The analysis is conducted through content analysis and comparison of legal systems. Findings - The findings indicate that legal politics plays a dominant role in shaping Islamic-based marriage regulations. The legal tradition in the Middle East tends to preserve classical fiqh with a high degree of conservatism. In contrast, Southeast Asia is more adaptive through codification and harmonization with national legal systems. A reconstruction of legal politics is necessary to integrate the principles of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah with the demands of universal justice. Research Implications - This study contributes to the development of Islamic legal politics theory and serves as a reference for policymakers in formulating marriage regulations that are responsive to social dynamics. Originality/Value - This study offers a new perspective on the reconstruction of Islamic-based marriage law politics through a cross-regional comparative analysis, a subject rarely examined in depth in contemporary Islamic legal literature.
