Abstract

The purpose of this study was to characterize teacher candidate students' higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) using the Van Hiele analysis level. The qualitative descriptive method was employed in this study. The Van Hiele Geometry Test and the HOTS test served as the research instruments. Data were gathered via tests and interviews. Next, two participants who, in accordance with Van Hiele's theory, had attained the analytical level among third-semester primary school teacher education students served as the research subjects. According to Van Hiele's theory, the research's findings indicated that the students who attained the analysis level were unable to meet HOTS indicators including analysis, evaluating, and creativity indicators. Since the students did not state proper reasons to support the conclusion, which it was used during the process of conclusion.

Abstract

Presidential Regulation (PERPRES) Number 2 of 2022 concerning National Entrepreneurship Development for 2021-2024, mandates that the target entrepreneurship ratio in 2024 is 4.0%. Vocational education that oversees SMK encourages students to be productive, one of which is through entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial interest is one of the important precursor variables for entrepreneurship. This study uses a quantitative approach survey method. The form of problem formulation used in this study is associative-causal. The sample used in this study amounted to 222 students from public vocational schools in Malang City. The data collection technique used was a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques used include descriptive, partial correlation, and multiple regression. The conclusion in this study shows that career adaptability and self-discipline have no partial effect on students' entrepreneurial interest, while self-efficacy and digital literacy have a partial effect on students' entrepreneurial interest. The results also reveal that there is no simultaneous influence between career adaptability, self-efficacy, self-discipline, digital literacy on entrepreneurial interest of vocational students in Malang City.

Abstract

This journal investigates the linguistic challenges faced by students despite years of English language education, spanning three years in junior high school, three years in senior high school, and over four years in tertiary education. While students demonstrate comprehension skills in English listening, they encounter difficulties in verbal expression. This research employs a literature review methodology to explore the underlying factors contributing to this issue and proposes effective strategies, including the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), to augment English speaking proficiency.

Abstract

The Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework offers guidance for teachers seeking to address technology integration in classroom learning. This study aims to assess the TPACK proficiency levels among elementary school teachers. This study involved teachers from SDN Sumbersari 03 in Malang City as participants using a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were initially gathered through self-report measures, followed by analysis utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics. Subsequently, qualitative data were collected through interviews and observations, with analysis conducted using the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman. The results of this study showed that there was no difference in the TPACK perceptions of primary school teachers based on gender (p-value > 0.05). However, there is an influence between age and tenure on teachers' TPACK ability (p-value < 0.05). Overall, the teachers have a good mastery of TPACK. However, there are some areas that need to be improved, especially in terms of technology mastery (TK, TCK, and TPACK). The highest mean score in the CK and PK domains was 4.875 and the lowest score in the TPACK domain was 4.55. The findings also indicate no significant difference in TPACK perceptions among elementary school teachers based on gender. However, age and tenure were found to influence teachers' TPACK abilities. Overall, teachers demonstrated a good level of mastery in TPACK. Nonetheless, specific areas, particularly technology mastery (TK, TCK, and TPACK), require improvement.

Abstract

This research aims to find a model for evaluating the distance learning (DL) process when special circumstances such as a pandemic or disaster occur by comparing the strengths and weaknesses of all the models studied. When the COVID-19 virus outbreak occurred globally, it became a comprehensive trigger for implementing distance education, especially in Indonesia. A new concept known as the Independent Learning Curriculum (ILC) in the distance learning (DL) process has been applied. However, as a result, all regions have not the same readiness to implement this system. Geographical and demographic conditions, which are different, have resulted in the implementation of the DL still encountering various problems. The complaints of education stakeholders regarding student participation are still lacking, and technical and non-technical problems around DL require proper evaluation. The literature study method was carried out to examine the appropriate evaluation model for the DL system with the ICL concept. As a result, an appropriate evaluation selection in the DL process is used the objective-based approach of Tyler's model. In addition, during the corona outbreak, a framework is proposed to achieve the goals according to the evaluation model selected in the DL process.

Abstract

Higher order thinking skills (HOTS) are abilities that should be possessed by all vocational high School (VHS) students, because VHS graduates are required to have good soft skills and hard skills. The reality that occurs the ability of HOTS possessed by students is still very low, it is proven based on the exposure of several researchers strengthened by conducting observations and observations in VHS. Therefore the research aims to determine student learning activities when taught using blended learning Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) and jigsaw, using direct learning models, and their effects on HOTS. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi experimental nonequivalent control group design method with research subjects of 50 students using simple random sampling. Data collection techniques using the test instrument in the form of multiple choice and description and non-test instruments in the form of observation sheets. Research data were analyzed by independent sample t-test. The results showed that the use of STAD and jigsaw blended learning in learning made students more active and enthusiastic in participating in learning activities, direct learning models made students less active and lacked enthusiasm in the learning process, and STAD and jigsaw blended learning significantly affected compared to learning models directly to HOTS.

Abstract

Indonesia’s struggle to establish a sustainable national automotive industry reflects deeper gaps in vocational education, particularly in embedding national identity within technical skill development. This study aims to design, implement, and evaluate a Project-Learning Interactive (PLI) model that integrates cultural and national narratives into the Automotive Body Engineering course, using the concept of a national car prototype as a contextual anchor. A mixed-methods research design was employed, combining pre- and post-intervention tests, reflective journals, observation, and expert validation. The PLI model was developed using the ADDIE framework and implemented over a semester with vocational students. Instruments were used to assess technical competence and technological nationalism, supported by qualitative thematic analysis. Results showed significant improvements in students’ vehicle design skills and affective engagement. Quantitatively, rubric-based performance scores increased, and nationalism-related attitudes strengthened. Qualitatively, students demonstrated heightened pride, cultural awareness, and collaborative innovation, as reflected in their design outputs featuring national motifs. The study identified five thematic indicators of technological nationalism, highlighting students’ alignment with national development goals through engineering tasks. These findings validate the model’s capacity to enhance both cognitive and civic learning outcomes in technical education. This research offers a pedagogical model that bridges vocational skill mastery and national character formation. It contributes to the discourse on contextual and identity-based education by offering an empirically tested approach adaptable to similar educational and cultural settings.
