Abstract

Mental health disorders are a significant concern, especially among inmates, as the pressures they experience can lead to dangerous behaviors such as riots or even suicide. This study aims to examine the relationship between hardiness and resilience with mental disorders among female inmates at Class IIB Sigli Penitentiary, Pidie Regency. This observational analytic study uses a cross-sectional design. Data collection was conducted through interviews using questionnaires. The study population consisted of all female inmates at Class IIB Sigli Penitentiary, Pidie Regency. The sample size was calculated using the Slovin formula and selected through accidental sampling, resulting in 60 respondents. Data analysis was performed using logistic regression tests via STATA 17.0. The results indicate a significant relationship between certain factors and mental disorders. Sentence length was significantly associated with anxiety (p=0,038, OR=7,66), where inmates serving more than 5 years had a higher risk of anxiety. Resilience also showed a significant relationship with stress (p=0,051, OR=0,19), with lower resilience individuals at greater risk of experiencing stress. On the other hand, no significant relationship was found between hardiness and depression (p=0,087, OR=0,37), anxiety (p=0,352, OR=2,42), or stress (p=0,086, OR=0,30). The type of case also did not show a significant relationship with depression (p=0,575, OR=0,60), anxiety (p=0,552, OR=2,04), or stress (p<0,145, OR=Omitted). Age and marital status factors were also not significantly related to the mental disorders studied.

Abstract

Emotional disorders such as anxiety, stress, and depression are prevalent among university students, particularly in their final year due to academic pressures. These conditions can influence daily behavior, including eating patterns, and may trigger emotional eating, which threatens both physical and psychological health. Self-esteem is considered a protective factor that may buffer these effects. This study aimed to examine the relationship between emotional disorders and emotional eating among final-year female students and to analyze the moderating role of self-esteem. A cross-sectional design was conducted involving 222 stu   dents from Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh. Data were collected using the DASS-21, Emotional Eating Scale (EES), and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES).  Logistic regression analysis showed that 38.74% of respondents experienced moderate depression, 27.48% moderate anxiety, 15.77% moderate stress, and 22.17% reported emotional eating. Significant associations were found between moderate anxiety (p=0.045) and severe stress (p=0.021) with emotional eating. Moreover, self-esteem moderated the relationship between stress and emotional eating, suggesting that higher self-esteem helps students control eating behavior under stress. These findings emphasize the importance of early detection and psychosocial interventions to promote students’ mental health and healthy eating patterns.

Abstract

The syndemic between Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a public health challenge because DM can weaken the immune system and poor glycemic control facilitates infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. As the prevalence of DM in Indonesia increases, identifying risk factors that contribute to the incidence of TB in DM patients becomes important. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional status, glycemic control, income level, education level, and access to health services with the incidence of pulmonary TB in DM patients. The study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach conducted at Tgk. Chik Ditiro Sigli Regional Hospital from June–September 2025 with a sample of 277 DM patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using mixed methods, namely secondary data from medical records for TB status, nutritional status, and glycemic control and primary data through questionnaires for income and access to health services using the Cronbach’s Alpha method with a value of ≥0.70.The results showed that the majority of respondents did not have pulmonary TB (75.09%), but the majority had poor nutritional status (68.95%) and most had controlled glycemic control (71.12%). In addition, more than half of respondents had incomes below the Provincial Minimum Wage (56.68%) and about half had poor access to health services (50.54%). The analysis showed a significant association between poor nutritional status (AOR=2.5; 95% CI=1.17–5.39), uncontrolled glycemic control (AOR=4.5; 95% CI=2.43–8.68), income <UMP (AOR=1.9; 95% CI=1.02–3.85), and poor access to health services (AOR=3.2; 95% CI=1.65–6.30) with the incidence of pulmonary TB in DM patients,

Abstract

The intertidal zone of Iboih Beach in Sukakarya District, Sabang, has significant macroalgae diversity with different substrate variations. This study examined the diversity, distribution, and ecological significance of macroalgae using the quadrat method with purposive sampling technique on three plots measuring 2 2 m (coral, sand, and rock substrates), each replicated three times. Measurements of environmental parameters including temperature (using a thermometer), salinity (refractometer), and depth (Secchi disk) were carried out prior to sampling to ensure that environmental conditions were recorded. The results showed Galaxaura rugosa as the dominant species (INP 63.22), followed by Halimeda opuntia (38.42) and Chaetomorpha crassa (35.27), which showed a preference for hard substrates rich in nutrients. In contrast, Caulerpa sp. had the lowest INP (9.33), indicating specific habitat adaptation. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H=1.57) was in the moderate category, with an average INP of 28.575 reflecting a diverse community occupying different ecological niches. The coral substrate supported the highest abundance due to its stability and nutrient availability. This finding confirms the crucial role of substrate characteristics in the structure of intertidal macroalgal communities. Keywords:DiversityMacroalgaeIntertidal zoneSubstrateIboih Beach

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a major global public health problem that contributes significantly to morbidity, mortality, and decreased quality of life due to its long-term complications. Rural communities are particularly vulnerable to diabetes mellitus complications because of limited access to healthcare services, inadequate health education, low socioeconomic status, and insufficient preventive health behaviors. The purpose of this study is to analyze the determinants of diabetes mellitus complication prevention in rural communities. This quantitative study with a cross-sectional design in May 2025. The study population consisted of 348 respondents with a sample of 186 respondents selected using random probability sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires. The results showed that all questionnaire items were valid, with r-count values ranging from 0.412 to 0.845, exceeding the r-table value. Reliability testing was conducted using Cronbach’s Alpha, and all variables demonstrated good internal consistency, including diabetes complication prevention (0.892), knowledge (0.846), motivation (0.874), and health examination (0.831). Analyzed using logistic regression. The results showed a significant relationship between education (0.000), type of employment (0.000), income level (0.00), knowledge (0.000), attitude (0.000), self-motivation (0.000), family support (0.000), and access to health services (0.000) with efforts to prevent DM complications. In contrast, age (0.067), gender (0.291), and anxiety level (0.080) were not significantly related. The most dominant variable was self-motivation with an OR of 144.7. The conculsion is education, occupation, income, knowledge, attitude, family support, healthcare access, and especially self-motivation significantly influenced diabetes complication prevention efforts in rural communities.

Abstract

Older adults are particularly vulnerable to oral health problems, especially tooth loss, which affects chewing function, nutritional status, and quality of life. Dentures are an important rehabilitative intervention to address these issues. Although many countries, including Indonesia, have implemented Universal Health Coverage (UHC), coverage of denture services for older adults remains variable and limited. Objective isTo map denture services for older adults within the Universal Health Coverage framework using the WHO Universal Health Coverage Cube. Methods is This scoping review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology and was reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines. Literature searches were conducted across multiple scientific databases and relevant grey literature sources. Eligible studies were analyzed descriptively and mapped according to the three dimensions of UHC: population coverage, service coverage, and financial protection. The results: A total of 20 studies were included in the review. The findings revealed considerable variation in denture services for older adults across countries. In terms of population coverage, older adults were not consistently prioritized as beneficiaries. Regarding service coverage, coverage was generally limited to basic removable dentures, with restrictions on materials and replacement frequency. In the financial protection dimension, older adults remained exposed to out-of-pocket payments despite formal inclusion of denture services in health policies. These findings indicate an imbalance across the three UHC dimensions. Conclusion is Although the UHC framework has been widely implemented, coverage of denture services for older adults remains suboptimal. Strengthening equity, service comprehensiveness, and financial protection is necessary to ensure more responsive health systems for ageing populations. The WHO Universal Health Coverage Cube provides a useful framework for identifying policy gaps.
