Abstract

Larangan District is one of the shallot-producing areas that the government prioritizes for agricultural intensification. The high intensity of agriculture in Larangan District causes soil fertility and sustainability disparities. This research evaluates soil fertility and the sustainability of shallot farming intensification activities in Larangan District, Brebes Regency. Soil fertility evaluation used two different approaches: Base Cation Saturation Ratio (BCSR), which referred to Koppitke & Menzies research in 2007 and assessment through a combination of soil chemical properties, as referred to Soil Research Center of Indonesia. Sustainability analysis was carried out using the Rapid Appraisal for Farming (RAP-Farm) approach with a multi-aspect sustainability analysis method, with a total of 6 aspects (ecological, economic, social, institutional, technological, and logistics, and infrastructure) with 36 factors. The results of the research show that Larangan District has a moderate soil fertility status, with a nutrient unbalance from cation ratio analysis. Sustainability status shows a less sustainable status with aspects that have values below the limit, namely ecology, economics, and technology.

Abstract

This study evaluated the antidiabetic activity and phytochemical profile of the ethanolic extract of Scleria sumatrensis Retz. Using an alloxan-induced diabetic rat model. Diabetes was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of alloxan (150 mg/kg BW) after a 12-hour fasting period, and fasting blood glucose was measured at three standardized time points: GD1 (baseline), GD2 (72 hours post-induction), and GD3 (day 14 post-treatment). GC–MS analysis revealed several major constituents, including ethyl α-D-glucopyranoside, ethyl linoleate, ethyl linolenate, phytol, tocopherol, and β-sitosterol, which are associated with improved insulin sensitivity, modulation of PPAR-γ–related pathways, antioxidant protection of pancreatic β-cells, and reduced intestinal carbohydrate digestion. Rats were assigned to negative control (vehicle), positive control (metformin 45 mg/kg BW), and extract-treated groups (75, 150, and 300 mg/kg BW). Percentage reduction from GD2 to GD3 was analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey’s post-hoc test. The extract produced a significant and dose-dependent decrease in fasting glucose (p < 0.001). All extract doses differed significantly from the negative control, and the 300 mg/kg dose demonstrated glucose-lowering efficacy comparable to metformin. These findings indicate that Scleria sumatrensis possesses vigorous antihyperglycemic activity consistent with its lipophilic phytochemical composition. Further studies are required to verify the underlying mechanisms and identify the most active constituents.

Abstract

The use of natural coarse aggregate in large-scale concrete production can be avoided using recycled coarse aggregate as a substitute for natural aggregate. However, using recycled coarse aggregate can generally affect the quality of concrete. The excessive interfacial transition zone (ITZ) is formed due to the old mortar that is still attached, which is the weakest contact zone in recycled aggregate concrete. The addition of polymers such as Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) to the recycled aggregate concrete mixture is expected to increase the strength in this area. The addition of SBR content of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, and 10% to the weight of the mixture water was carried out to review the performance of concrete in terms of its physical properties and mechanical properties. The coarse aggregate used came from recycled coarse aggregate using the Heating-Grinding-Acid Solvent (H-G-A) method. The results of the study show that H-G-A concrete with an additional SBR content of 5% exhibits superior quality compared to normal aggregate concrete. The addition of SBR shows a denser ITS area resulting in the quality of concrete increases.

Abstract

The ASN PUPR Apartment Building in West Nusa Tenggara consists of 8 floors with a total height of 29,68m. All floors of this building utilize reinforced concrete structures, which makes them vulnerable to lateral forces, particularly those caused by earthquakes. Earthquakes pose a risk of structural damage; therefore, a strong structural system is required to withstand seismic forces in order to prevent collapse and structural failure. One such system is the optimal placement and configuration of shear walls to resist lateral forces. The research problem in this study is how to compare the effectiveness of three variations of shear walls in resisting lateral forces. The objective of this research is to analyze the floor displacement values in both the x and y directions and to determine the optimal location for shear wall placement in resisting lateral forces. This study employed a numerical simulation method based on structural modeling, using design drawings obtained from the project contractor. The floor displacement results for Variation 1 show a total displacement of 0,1611 mm in the x-direction and 0,1399 mm in the y-direction. Based on the analysis of the three structural models, it can be concluded that the placement of shear walls is more effective when positioned at the corner joints of the L-shaped building, as indicated by the floor displacement results in both the x and y directions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of Motivation Strategy and Leadership on Service Quality in hospitals, with Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable in the influence between Motivation Strategy, Transformational Leadership, and Transactional Leadership on Service Quality of medical personnel. This study uses a quantitative approach with non-probability sampling method and purposive sampling technique. The unit of analysis is medical personnel at military Hospital, with a sample size of 200 respondents. Data collection was done through questionnaires, and data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with SMART PLS version 3.0. The results showed that of the 7 direct influence hypotheses, 4 hypotheses were supported, and 3 hypotheses were not supported. Meanwhile, of the 3 indirect effect hypotheses, 2 hypotheses are supported, and 1 hypothesis is not supported. Job Satisfaction is proven to be a mediating variable that strengthens the influence between Motivation Strategy, Leadership (Transformational and Transactional), and Service Quality. This study provides theoretical contributions in the field of strategic health management, as well as practical implications, such as the importance of leadership training, development of individual-based motivation strategies, and improving work environment support for medical personnel. The limitation of the study lies in the cross-sectional approach, which does not allow analysis of long-term changes. The originality of this study lies in the integration of Leadership (Transformational and Transactional) and Motivation Strategy variables in the context of a military hospital, by highlighting Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable. This study fills the gap of previous research by analyzing more deeply the influence between Leadership, Motivation, and Service Quality in the military hospital environment.

Abstract

Abstract

Career choice among Indonesian youth does not occur autonomously but is shaped through negotiation with the surrounding social environment, particularly families that continue to regard formal employment as the primary marker of stability and success. This complexity becomes more pronounced when young people pursue non-conventional career paths such as do-it-yourself (DIY) music, which offers creative autonomy yet is marked by economic uncertainty. This article examines how DIY musicians in Purwokerto navigate their transition into the labour market, negotiate career choices with their families, and develop adaptive strategies to ope with structural constraints and dominant formal-work norms. Employing a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach and informed by Karl Mannheim’s theory of social generations, data were collected through in-depth interviews and participant-as-observer, observations involving DIY musicians aged 20-24 who are still enrolled in higher education, additional informants who have completed the transition phase, and parents of the main informants. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model with source triangulation. The finding reveal that DIY youth transitions involve ongoing negotiation between creative aspirations, familial expectations, and limitations within the local music ecosystem, addressed through adaptive strategies combining creative labour, paid work, and collective networks.
