Abstract

Tabuik, a traditional event in Pariaman, has become an emblematic symbol of West Sumatera’s regional identity. However, its contemporary implementation has shifted its focus from a cultural celebration to a promotional tool aimed at bolstering the local economy. Drawing upon Anthony Giddens’ agency structuration theory, this research elucidates the mutually reinforcing dynamic between agents and structures. The agents in this context encompass the government and traditional groups, whose interactions shape the structure and practices of Tabuik. The research employs Miles and Huberman’s data analysis techniques, encompassing data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification. The findings reveal a transformation in the sacred values associated with Tabuik. This shift was catalyzed by the government’s efforts to suppress Shi’ite influences perceived as detrimental to societal stability and its interpretation of Tabuik as a Shi’ah teaching. Subsequently, Tabuik gained recognition as a tourist attraction, contributing to the community’s economic development by drawing both domestic and foreign visitors. The enduring significance of Tabuik as a local wisdom in Minangkabau, coupled with its status as an icon and global recognition, has had a profound impact on various communities. It has become a draw for tourists, both domestic and international, contributing to the region’s economic growth. The research concludes that Tabuik, a tradition that has endured for decades, has adapted to contemporary developments, particularly in the context of the 5.0 era.

Abstract

This article discusses how the construction of children's identities in families with amalgamated marriages in the Malay and Javanese ethnic groups in Tanjung Uma Village, Batam City. This study is interesting because the Malay and Javanese ethnic groups are ethnic groups that have different cultural characteristics, so that adjustments are needed in the formation of cultural identities in family members. This study uses the Social Construction theory of Peter L. Berger. The research method used in this study is the historical method which goes through four stages, namely: data collection or heuristics, criticism, interpretation and writing. The data collection process is carried out first by heuristics, where researchers collect relevant historical sources by observing how families with amalgamated marriages of the Malay and Javanese ethnic groups live. The second stage is criticism, at this stage the researcher conducts criticism by assessing the authenticity of documents, the physical condition of the archives of amalgamated marriage data in Tanjung Uma Village. The third stage, the interpretation stage, researchers use a relevant theoretical framework on the formation of children's identities in amalgamated marriage families. The fourth stage of Historiography is presenting the results of the study through the stages of sources, data, and evidence, in this case the researcher took data from Tanjung Uma Village regarding the amalgamation marriage families of Malay and Javanese ethnicities. The research findings show that there are three main factors in the formation of the cultural identity of children from amalgamation marriage families of Malay and Javanese ethnicities in Tanjung Uma Village. First, the locality factor where the dominant Malay culture in Tanjung Uma greatly influences the cultural identity of children. Second, the role of parents in internalizing cultural values ​​to their children. Parents act as the main socialization agents who introduce and teach both cultures. Third, cultural adjustment in amalgamation marriage families of Malay and Javanese ethnicities in Tanjung Uma Village shows a process of adjustment, especially the dominant Malay culture as the local culture.

Abstract

Dalam materi sosiologi di SMA terdapat Kompetensi Dasar tentang pemberdayaan masyarakat dan kearifan kokal, salah aspek yang dibahas adalah tentang kearifan lokal dalam bencana alam. Tulisan ini berangkat dari hasil penelitian yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan materi ajat tentang mitigasi bencana, karena materi ajar yang ada pada buku paket Sosiologi di SMA masih bersifat tektual dan belum kontekstual dengan kondisi sosio-budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kota Padang, dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Pemilihan infoman dilakukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam dan terstruktur, observasi partisipasi pasif, Focus Group Discussion, dan studi dokumen. Abstract

This study aims as a model and to provide information to the public about what can be done to help restore environmental and natural conditions, especially in Karawang Regency. This research was conducted by conducting a literature review or literature study on several previous studies related to environmental and social problems in Karawang Regency. The result is Karawang Regency that has a relatively high population density and is one of the industrial areas in the province of West Java, with environmental problems, such as Water Pollution, Air Pollution, B3 Waste, and Solid Waste, Natural Disasters, Damage to Land, Forest, and Soil Resources, Damage to Coastal and Marine Ecosystems, Legal Compliance and Facilitation of Environmental Disputes, Institutions, and Monitoring Facilities Environment, Institutions, and Facilities for Monitoring Environment, Waste, and Urbanization. Abstract

This research is motivated by the large number of data found on drug convicts with juvenile offenders in the Class IIB Padang state detention center from Koto Tangah District which always changes every period. With these changes, it is evident that many of the juvenile convicts with repeated criminal acts, and have just been sentenced to detention in the Padang Class IIB State Detention Center. However, the freedom of the juvenile ex-convicts of drug cases makes it difficult for them to adapt, and get labels from society. This labeling aims to analyze the label of society towards adolescent ex-convicts of drug cases, and the impact of the label on the behavior of adolescent ex-convicts of drug cases. This study uses the theory of labeling and George Herbert Mead's socialization theory. The approach used is qualitative with the type of case study research. Research informants were determined using a purposive sampling technique with criteria for subsidy services for prisoners at the Padang Class IIB State Detention Center, juvenile ex-convicts in drug cases with the age of 12-21 years, families of juvenile ex-convicts in drug cases, and the community around the residence of juvenile ex-convicts. drugs. Data was collected using observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The data validity test includes credibility, transferability, dependability, and conformability tests. Analysis of the data using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study show that the labeling of society on juvenile ex-convicts of drug cases is divided into two forms; First, the labeling of names (makaw, lelek, sakaw, maele, meang, and paisok). Second, the labeling of people's attitudes (parusuah, sampah masyarakaik, and pakak badak). Community labeling has an impact on the behavior of adolescent ex-convicts of drug cases, such as feelings of fear to adapt, repeat drug use, and uncontrolled emotions.

Abstract

This study concerns on the women of Minangkabau in politics system that is egalitarian and has a central position within the society with the focus on the involvement of women in politics in the process and activities of Khatm Quran tradition which is a part of the local society’s responsibility. Generally, there is a representation of women in politics and local position within the local society. There is a causal relationship between women’s egalitarian characteristics and their positions in politics in daily life. In fact, egalitarian characteristics have a significant effect on the decision making process and in the process and activities of Khatm Quran tradition.

Abstract

This research was structured with the aim of students' creativity and learning outcomes using interactive multimedia innovations for class XI IPS 5 SMAN 1 Pasaman, Academic Year 2021/2021. Creativity and learning outcomes are referred to in this study, namely the ability of students to provide an active and creative attitude in learning and the bias to give good learning outcomes during the implementation of learning. The type of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), in which the teacher is the implementer of learning as well as the researcher. This research design uses a model. This research was carried out in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year, namely in March. The subjects of this study were students of class XI IPS 5 consisting of 34 students. The object of research is the creativity and learning outcomes of students. Data collection techniques using observation and interviews. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in tabular form. The results showed an increase in students' creativity and learning outcomes, namely in the first cycle. In the first cycle, students' learning mastery increased by 70.58% (initial condition 8.82% increased to 70.58%). In the second cycle, with the improvement and modification of learning multimedia, accompanied by the management of group formation and the provision of rewards, student learning outcomes increased by 88.23% (the condition of the first cycle increased 70.58% to 88.23%). Learning achievement in cycle II has met the indicators of success because 75% of students have reached the KKM. Data were analyzed descriptively and presented in tabular form. Abstract

This research aims to identify the process of implementing P5 themed on local wisdom in coastal Padang Beach, explore traditions such as rabana, pukkek, and soccer, and develop learners' social competencies. In addition, the research measured the impact of P5 and provided recommendations for future program improvements. The research method is field qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study reveal that the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5) with the theme of local wisdom at SMAN 1 Padang is a learning platform that enriches students' character and cultural awareness. Through a careful preparation stage, the school formed a team of facilitators and developed a module to guide students to understand Padang's coastal culture in depth. In the implementation phase, students interacted directly with the Ulak Karang Utara community, learning the art of rabana that strengthens togetherness, as well as fishing techniques with pukkek that reflect the spirit of mutual cooperation. This experience broadened students' horizons about cultural resilience, cooperation, and the importance of preserving local heritage. Evaluation is conducted through portfolios that record student and educator reflections, revealing successes in building pride in local culture as well as challenges that need to be refined, such as expanding collaboration with community institutions. Overall, the implementation of P5 not only deepens students' cultural understanding, but also reinforces the values of Pancasila in their daily lives. With the sustainability of the program and the support of various parties, this model has the potential to become an inspiration for other schools in Indonesia, integrating character education with the preservation of local culture as a foundation for strengthening national identity.

Abstract

Komposisi Masyarakat Sumatera Barat yang cenderung homogen baik dari sisi suku bangsa, ras, dan agama tidak mengeliminasi berkembangnya permasalahan sosial. Salah satunya adalah isu kemiskinan yang lebih banyak menyasar kaum Perempuan. Problem-problem sosial yang berkelindan dengan sosok dan peran perempuan secara individu maupun komunal seringkali diselesaikan dengan strategi konvensional berupa pengenaan sanksi yang lagi-lagi merugikan Perempuan. Oleh karena itu perlu peningkatan kapasitas pemerintahan nagari melalui tiga desain kegiatan utama yaitu sosialisasi, workshop, dan pendampingan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh Tim Pusat Riset Gender dan Pembangunan Universitas Negeri Padang. Kegiatan ini berlokasi di nagari Toboh Ketek berada dalam Kecamatan Enam Lingkung, Kabupaten Padang Pariaman. kegiatan ini mengasah kepekaan perangkat nagari tentang pentingnya merevisi bahkan menciptakan peraturan nagari yang beranjak dari permasalahan yang dihadapi warga, bukan sekedar ikut-ikutan tren atau latah latah dalam menghasilkan Peraturan Nagari.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental pillar of a nation’s development, serving as a critical instrument in producing a high-quality generation capable of addressing increasingly complex and dynamic global challenges. To achieve this vision, the implementation of various educational foundations—philosophical, psychological, sociological, and cultural—is essential in shaping a comprehensive and effective learning environment. This article aims to analyze how different educational foundations are implemented in the educational practices at State Senior High School 1 (SMAN 1) Padang City, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The study adopts a qualitative research approach, employing data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews with teachers, classroom observations, and analysis of school documents related to learning strategies and policies. The research findings indicate that SMAN 1 Padang has made various efforts to incorporate educational foundations into the teaching and learning process. These include applying learner-centered approaches, integrating local cultural values, and fostering student potential in accordance with psychological development stages. However, the study also reveals several challenges that hinder optimal implementation, such as limited teacher training on educational theories, inconsistent application across subjects, and insufficient institutional support for long-term integration. These findings suggest that to effectively realize national education goals, there needs to be a stronger synergy between educational theories and practical implementation in schools. Continuous professional development for teachers, improved collaboration among stakeholders, and school policies that support the application of educational foundations can play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between theory and practice.
