Abstract

Digital transformation has intensified the need for educational leadership models that integrate technological adaptation with collaborative organizational practices. This study aims to map research trends in collaborative practices, digital transformation, and madrasah leadership, and to identify conceptual gaps and future research directions. A scoping review design was employed using literature retrieved from the Scopus and Web of Science databases. Peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2015 and 2025 were selected through systematic screening and analyzed through evidence mapping, data charting, and thematic synthesis. The findings indicate a substantial increase in publications on collaborative leadership and digital transformation; however, studies specifically addressing madrasah leadership remain limited. The review also reveals that collaborative practices and digital transformation are frequently examined separately, creating a gap in understanding their integration within Islamic educational institutions. This study contributes a conceptual framework that bridges collaborative practices and digital transformation to support adaptive madrasah leadership and sustainable institutional development. Future studies should empirically validate the proposed framework in diverse madrasah contexts.

Abstract

The implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) is a strategic instrument for strengthening the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) in Islamic educational institutions. This study aims to examine the urgency of SOPs, the mechanism for their development, and the main obstacles to their implementation in quality assurance practices. The study used library research with a qualitative descriptive analytical approach. Data were collected through documentation of books, regulations, and relevant scientific literature, then analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that SOPs help translate institutional quality policies into measurable, consistent, and accountable operational procedures. SOPs also support the quality assurance cycle through standard setting, implementation, evaluation, control, and continuous improvement. The main obstacles include organizational resistance, limited managerial literacy, limited digital infrastructure, and weak coordination among institutional units. These obstacles can be addressed through participatory SOP development, transformational leadership, staff training, digitalization of SOP documents, periodic internal quality audits, and a reward system for compliant work units. Therefore, SOPs should not be treated only as administrative documents, but as practical instruments for building sustainable quality culture in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This article offers an epistemological critique of the uncritical adoption of Total Quality Management (TQM) in Islamic educational institutions (madrasah) in Indonesia. Using a library research method with a critical-analytical approach, this study identifies three fundamental layers of problematic assumptions embedded in TQM: ontological (human as mere resource), epistemological (quality as measurable output), and axiological (customer satisfaction as the ultimate goal). Drawing on decolonization theory (Quijano, Mignolo, de Sousa Santos) and the Islamization of knowledge project (al-Faruqi, al-Attas), this article argues that the adoption of TQM without epistemological reflection constitutes a subtle form of knowledge colonialism that threatens the integrity of Islamic educational goals. As an alternative, this article proposes a conceptual framework grounded in Islamic values—centered on insan kamil, ihsan, falah, and the maqasid al-shari'ah—as a reconstituted basis for quality management in madrasah. This framework does not wholesale reject TQM, but selectively incorporates compatible elements while reorienting their philosophical foundations.

Abstract

This study examines quality management based on the Love-Based Curriculum (Kurikulum Berbasis Cinta/KBC) in improving the quality culture of madrasahs. The study is motivated by the need to strengthen quality culture as an effort to enhance educational quality that is not only oriented toward academic achievement but also toward character development, human values, and a humanistic learning environment. The Love-Based Curriculum (KBC), introduced by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, emphasizes the values of love, compassion, empathy, respect for human dignity, and social responsibility as the foundation of educational management. The objective of this study is to analyze the role of KBC-based quality management in building and enhancing the quality culture of madrasahs. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using a literature review method. Data were collected from books, scientific journals, policy documents, and other relevant academic sources concerning educational quality management, quality culture, and the Love-Based Curriculum. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify concepts and relationships among variables. The findings indicate that the implementation of KBC-based quality management strengthens the quality culture of madrasahs through humanistic leadership, teacher professionalism development, collaboration among school stakeholders, and the internalization of values of love and responsibility in educational activities. The established quality culture promotes improved performance, commitment, and sustainable educational service quality, thereby supporting the realization of excellent, value-oriented, and competitive madrasahs.

Abstract

Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) plays an essential role in maintaining and improving the quality of higher education, including within the context of Islamic education. This study aims to examine the basic concept of SPMI, its principles and components, its implementation in Islamic education, as well as the challenges and strategies for its strengthening. This research employs a qualitative approach using library research with a descriptive-analytical method. The findings indicate that, conceptually, SPMI has been well designed through the PPEPP cycle. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, particularly in structural, cultural, and technical aspects. A case study at SMP IT Insan Mulia shows that the main issue does not lie in the absence of the system, but rather in the lack of a strong quality culture. Therefore, strengthening SPMI should focus on transforming organizational culture and integrating Islamic values into quality assurance practices.
