Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of the traditional martial art Silek Pauh in instilling moral values among young people, with a focus on the values of discipline and self-control that influence social behavior. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design and was conducted at Sanggar Ranah Tigo Raso, Pauh District, Padang City. Research informants were determined through purposive sampling, consisting of Silek Pauh trainers, training participants, participants’ parents, community leaders, youth, and local residents. Data collection was carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. Data validity was tested through technique triangulation, while data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that Silek Pauh plays a role as an effective form of non-formal education in shaping the moral values of young people. The values of discipline and self-control are instilled in a structured and sustainable manner through adherence to training rules, trainers’ role modeling, habituation of attitudes, as well as the internalization of Minangkabau customary values and philosophy. This process encourages the formation of responsible attitudes, the ability to manage emotions, and social awareness, which are reflected in participants’ behavior in family and community environments. These findings affirm that Silek Pauh has a significant contribution in supporting the development of young people’s character based on local cultural values.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the cultural diversity in Indonesia, which requires an attitude of tolerance through context-appropriate multicultural education that encompasses all learners, particularly in schools with pupils from diverse backgrounds, including those with special educational needs. The aim of this study is to examine how cultural competence can be developed to foster an attitude of tolerance at Yari International School. This study employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design. Data were collected through interviews with Pancasila education teachers and school management, direct observation, and existing documents. Data analysis utilised an interactive model comprising several stages reduction, presentation, and drawing of conclusions, and was validated through triangulation of sources and methods. The research findings indicate that the enhancement of cultural competence is achieved by conducting context-appropriate learning, dividing students into culturally diverse groups, holding discussions and addressing issues of diversity, as well as organising extracurricular activities aimed at strengthening character and expressing art and culture.This practice helps to raise awareness of cultural identity, foster empathy towards others, improve intercultural communication skills, and promote non-discriminatory attitudes in everyday interactions. However, there are some challenges, such as initial prejudices and differences in communication styles among students. Nevertheless, with a good communication approach and sufficient support from teachers, these obstacles can be effectively overcome.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in promoting the transformation of students' prosocial behavior from passive bystander to active defender in a Civic Education context. The study was motivated by the dominance of passive bystander behavior in Class IX J of SMP Negeri 5 Cilacap, Indonesia, characterized by zero defender action (0%) in pre-intervention observations. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design following Kemmis and McTaggart (2014) was applied across two cycles with 32 students as subjects. Data were collected via observation rubrics measuring five indicators, field notes, interviews, and cognitive tests, analyzed through descriptive statistics and triangulation. Results demonstrated significant improvements in mean prosocial behavior from 77% (Cycle I) to 89.74% (Cycle II), with aspect-specific gains: cooperation +24.62%, initiative and leadership +16.63%, empathy +9.44%, responsibility +9.44%, and defender action +3.69%. Mean cognitive learning scores increased from 76.25 to 88.75. Analysis through Bandura's Social Cognitive Theory and Salmivalli's Participant Role Approach revealed that individual accountability and role simulation simultaneously activated self-efficacy development, moral disengagement reduction, and observational learning. From a Civic Education perspective, this transformation empirically realizes the concept of justice-oriented citizenship as theorized by Westheimer and Kahne (2004) and the civic dispositions framework of Branson (1998). A critical validity discussion explicitly addressed five internal validity threats and four causality arguments, positioning this study as a methodologically transparent contribution to prosocial behavior intervention research.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the need to strengthen students’ civic skills as an essential foundation for developing active, democratic, and responsible citizens. Scouting (Pramuka) activities are considered to have strong potential as a form of nonformal education that emphasizes experiential learning and social interaction. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of scouting activities in strengthening students’ civic skills at SMP Negeri 1 Sungayang, particularly in terms of situational awareness, decision-making, democratic attitudes, communication, cooperation, and social participation. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving students participating in scouting activities, scout leaders, and school administrators. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that scouting activities play a significant role in developing students’ civic skills in a contextual and practical manner. Students demonstrate improved ability to read situations, make collective decisions, communicate effectively, work cooperatively, and participate actively in group activities. Democratic attitudes such as tolerance, respect for differing opinions, and prioritizing group interests are consistently practiced during scouting activities. These results confirm that scouting serves as an effective learning platform for strengthening civic skills through direct experience and social interaction in the school environment.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the increasing potential spread of radicalism among adolescents, which may influence students’ cognitive patterns, attitudes, and behaviors. Schools, as formal educational institutions, play a strategic role in preventing the development of radical ideologies, particularly through Civic Education (PPKn). This study aims to describe the implementation of radicalism prevention among adolescents through PPKn learning at SMAS Nurul Ikhlas X Koto, Tanah Datar Regency, and to identify the supporting factors in its implementation. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of PPKn teachers, the principal, vice principals in curriculum and student affairs, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, including lesson plans (RPP) and school regulations. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that radicalism prevention is implemented through democratic learning practices, the modeling of moderate attitudes, respect for students’ opinions, the internalization of anti-radical values, and the prevention of student grouping based on particular viewpoints. In addition, supporting factors include an open and inclusive school environment, the application of universal values, the involvement of alumni and parents, and sustained communication. These findings suggest that PPKn learning functions as a strategic medium for character formation and the strengthening of students’ tolerance, thereby contributing to the prevention of radicalism among adolescents.

This abstract should provide a brief introduction to the problem, the purpose of the paper, followed by a statement about the methodology and a brief summary of the results. This study is motivated by the low student learning outcomes in Pancasila Education caused by the use of conventional teaching methods and the lack of technology-based learning media. This research aims to determine the effect of using Quizizz interactive quiz media on students’ learning outcomes in the topic of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a nonequivalent control group design. The sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class and the control class, each consisting of 31 students. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest) and student response questionnaires. Data analysis included normality tests, homogeneity tests, and hypothesis testing using the Independent Samples T-Test. The results showed a significance value (Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of Quizizz on student learning outcomes. The average posttest score of the experimental class (86.71) was higher than that of the control class (70.97). Thus, Quizizz is effective in improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students’ creativity and collaboration through the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) assisted by the Padlet application in Civic Education (PPKn) learning. This study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The research was conducted in three cycles involving Grade X students at SMA Negeri 8 Padang. Data were collected through observations, interviews, documentation, and project assessment rubrics measuring creativity and collaboration. The findings showed a continuous improvement in students’ creativity and collaboration across the research cycles. Creativity increased from 45.59% in the pre-action stage to 88.60% in Cycle III, while collaboration improved from 36.76% to 83.00%. The integration of PjBL and Padlet encouraged active participation, idea generation, teamwork, and meaningful learning experiences. PjBL assisted by Padlet effectively enhanced students’ creativity and collaboration in Civic Education learning.

Abstract

Perilaku sosial merupakan aspek penting dalam perkembangan peserta didik karena membentuk karakter dan kemampuan berinteraksi di sekolah maupun masyarakat. Kegiatan ekstrakurikuler pramuka menjadi salah satu sarana yang berpotensi memperkuat perilaku tersebut. Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya siswa yang melanggar aturan dan jarang mengikuti pramuka, serta siswa berprestasi yang aktif dalam kegiatan tersebut. Penelitian bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara kegiatan pramuka dengan perilaku sosial siswa di MAN 2 Kota Padang. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif korelasional dengan sampel 80 siswa, berdasarkan teori perkembangan sosial dari Lev Vygotsky. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket dan dianalisis menggunakan uji normalitas, linearitas, serta korelasi product moment. Hasil menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kegiatan pramuka dan perilaku sosial (r hitung 0,572 > r tabel 0,217; sig 0,01 < 0,05). Kontribusi pramuka sebesar 32,8%, sedangkan sisanya dipengaruhi faktor lain. Mayoritas siswa menunjukkan perilaku sosial yang baik yang didukung oleh budaya sekolah yang membentuk karakter melalui kegiatan pramuka.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kebiasaan belajar dengan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI F pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi di SMA Negeri 2 Palembayan. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian korelasional. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pemberian tes dan angket kebiasaan belajar kepada siswa. Analisis data menggunakan teknik korelasi Product Moment Pearson untuk mengetahui hubungan antara variabel kebiasaan belajar dan hasil belajar siswa. Landasan teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teori behavioristik yang menekankan bahwa proses belajar dipengaruhi oleh stimulus, respons, dan pembiasaan perilaku belajar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kebiasaan belajar dengan hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi. Semakin baik kebiasaan belajar siswa, maka semakin tinggi pula hasil belajar yang diperoleh. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis, tingkat korelasi antara kedua variabel berada pada kategori sangat tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kebiasaan belajar merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang memengaruhi keberhasilan belajar siswa. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya dari guru dan siswa untuk membangun kebiasaan belajar yang teratur, disiplin, dan efektif guna meningkatkan hasil belajar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran Sosiologi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) terhadap hasil belajar siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Enam Lingkung. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (pretest-posttest control group design). Sampel penelitian berjumlah 64 siswa yang terdiri dari kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol melalui teknik purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes pilihan ganda berjumlah 25 butir yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, homogenitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen (86) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol (80). Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh nilai signifikansi 0,018 < 0,05 yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan model Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS) efektif digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar sosiologi siswa.
