Abstract

In Indonesia, the duration of sunlight energy harvesting is around 7-8 hours perday. It is considered capable of generating electricity with photovoltaics (PV). Proper monitoring of solar panels can help identify and fix problems with solar panels. To overcome these problems, this research will develop a solar panel electrical power output monitoring system integrated with a Web Server using the Internet of Things that allows users to perform remote monitoring via smartphones and PCs. The method used in this research is the DevOps method. The results showed that the monitoring system of solar panel electrical power output integrated with Web Server runs well and can display data in real-time with a delay time of ± 0.50 ms. Furthermore, overall system testing was carried out from 08.00 to 16.00 with the maximum voltage and current generated of 5.13V and 0.176A. The efficiency value produced by the 10Wp solar panel is 94.16%.

Abstract

This study develops a low-head smart picohydro system for rural electrification optimized using the Queen Honey Bee Migration (QHBM) algorithm. The system includes a propeller turbine, axial generator, charge controller, inverter, and battery. QHBM optimizes flow rate, head, system efficiency, output power, and energy cost to achieve the best technical and economic performance. For comparison, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used, known for its fast convergence but prone to local optima. Results show that at a 0.65 m head, QHBM produces 546.68 W, higher than PSO (546.48 W) and manual calculation (530 W), with 50% faster convergence. The proposed system supports sustainable and affordable energy access for off-grid communities and offers potential for renewable energy startup innovation.

Abstract

Long-term electricity load forecasting plays an important role in ensuring system reliability, optimizing energy management, and making operational plans in face of continuously rising electricity demands. This study suggests a complete deep learning method for univariate forecasting of future electricity loads based on climatology and electricity consumption data for the period between 2019 and 2023. The initial dataset was cleaned, normalized, and partitioned chronologically into train/test datasets. Four train/test split cases (20/80, 40/60, 60/40, 80/20) were considered to explore the impact of different levels of historical data availability on the performance of the suggested framework from data-poor to data-rich situations. Then five deep learning structures (CNN, RNN, GRU, LSTM, and BiLSTM) were trained and tuned by using three different hyperparameter optimization methods. Grid Search provided an extensive exploration of parameter space to obtain solid baseline configurations for the considered neural networks, Random Search allowed efficient sampling of the search space to find high-quality deep learning models with lower computational expenses, and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) enabled adaptive optimization of near-optimal solutions via population-based optimization technique. Forecasting models were assessed by means of Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) metrics. Technical novelty of the study is related to the consideration of the impact of various hyperparameter optimization approaches on the quality and robustness of predictions provided by several deep learning architectures depending on the degree of historical data availability. Experiment results showed that the CNN tuned with the help of Random Search gave the best forecasting results in case of abundant training data (80/20 split) with RMSE=22.13. In case of scarcity of training samples (20/80 split) CNN tuned by Grid Search and PSO provided stable forecasts with MAPE≈0.077 and RMSE=37.56 with efficient reduction of prediction deviation.

Although the partner owns nila fish ponds with high potential, they have not been optimally utilized as an income source. This technology enhances production effectiveness and efficiency while reducing operational costs by utilizing solar energy. The system integrates several machines: a bone–meat separator, an autoclave, a meat shredder, a mixt-roaster, and an oil spinner, all powered by solar panels. This application of scientific knowledge provides tangible benefits for the partner, including cost savings, more efficient production, and enhanced income generation through the development of value-added fish products. The program will run for ten months, starting with preparation and installation, followed by operational training and mentoring. A marketing analysis will also be conducted to strengthen product competitiveness and expand market reach for Nila Fish Floss.
