Abstract

Coastal communities in Indonesia face limited access to clean water because water sources are dominated by seawater and the availability of fresh water is extremely limited. This problem creates a need for innovative and sustainable solutions that can be applied in everyday life and utilized in science learning. This study aims to design and test the feasibility of a solar panel–based seawater purifier as a contextual physics learning medium and a means of providing clean water for coastal communities. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), conducted through the stages of needs analysis, design, prototyping, expert validation, and limited field trials. Data collected includes expert validation results, practicality assessments by teachers and students, and empirical measurements of water quality such as pH, TDS, salinity, specific gravity, ORP, and EC. Qualitative findings from the validators indicate that this tool has good functionality, is relevant for learning, is easy to use, and is safe to operate. The results show an average validity of 3.73 (very valid) and practicality of 3.60 from students and 3.86 from teachers (very practical category). Water quality tests showed a pH of 6.83, TDS of 124 ppm, which meets WHO standards (TDS < 500 ppm), salinity of 0.01%, specific gravity (SG) of 1.00, ORP of 224 mV, and EC of 0 µS/cm, indicating that the water is suitable for consumption. Thus, the aim of the research is to produce a valid, practical seawater purifier and provide a sustainable alternative solution for the clean water needs of coastal communities.

Abstract

There are several ways to purify sea water to make it suitable for use, one of which is:is through a purification process by utilizing solar energy. Apart from being cheap, this energy is also renewable and highly available abundant in tropical areas. Solar energy is an important component for Human survival because human life activities are very dependent on energy availability. This research examines solar panel-based sea water purification devices as a physics learning medium in secondary schools. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this research analyzes various studies on the development of sea water purification equipment that utilizes solar panels. This study highlights relevant physical material such as thermodynamics and renewable energy, which is used as a basis for developing sea water purification devices using solar panels. In addition, this research identifies variations in the tools and materials used in the desalination process, as well as the application of these tools in the context of physics learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of STEM project based learning on improving students' higher-order thinking skills. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent posttest only control group design. The population of this study was all 130 students of grade XII. Then the sample was taken randomly obtained XII IPA 3 as the control class and XII IPA 4 as the experimental class. This study used test instruments in the form of essay questions and HOTS multiple choices. Data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The results of the study obtained a sig. 0.027 ≤ 0.05 meaning that the results obtained in the study were that there were significant differences in higher-order thinking skills between classes using STEM project-based learning and classes using conventional learning. Based on these results, STEM project-based learning can improve high school students' higher order thinking skills. These findings indicate that STEM PjBL can function as an effective model to improve analytical, evaluative, and creative capacity in learning in high school.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Teluk Sungka Village, Gaung Anak Serka District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, with the aim of empowering the community through the utilization of coconut coir waste into innovative handicraft products with market value. Until now, coconut coir has only been regarded as waste and has not been optimally utilized, even though it has considerable economic potential. The method used in this activity was a participatory approach, actively involving the community through several stages, namely identifying potential, collecting materials, conducting training, practicing handicraft production, and providing assistance during the production process. The coconut coir was processed into handicrafts with the help of latex as an adhesive to produce products such as flower pots and various other decorative items. The results of the activity showed that the community was able to process coconut coir into more useful products that have economic value and the potential to become an additional source of income. Through this program, the community gained new skills while also opening opportunities for the development of creative economies based on local potential.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan pendidikan abad ke-21 yang menuntut inovasi dalam sistem pembelajaran untuk menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang adaptif. Pendekatan konvensional yang didominasi oleh metode perkuliahan satu arah dinilai kurang efektif dalam mendorong pengembangan kemampuan berpikir dan kreativitas mahasiswa, terutama pada mata pelajaran fisika abstrak. Model pembelajaran RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) dipilih sebagai solusi karena sintaksnya yang sistematis dirancang untuk membangun pembelajaran mandiri dan keterlibatan siswa yang aktif. Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat pencapaian hasil belajar kognitif siswa setelah penerapan model pembelajaran RADEC pada bahan fluida statis dan untuk menguji perbedaan yang signifikan dibandingkan dengan metode konvensional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi kuasi-eksperimental di MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. Hasil analisis data deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa kelas eksperimen mencapai skor rata-rata 70,97 (Kategori Baik), mengungguli kelas kontrol yang memperoleh 63,97 (Kategori Wajar). Perbaikan yang signifikan terlihat di semua tingkatan Taksonomi Bloom, terutama pada aspek Evaluating (C5) dengan skor 73,07 dan Creating (C6) dengan skor 88,46. Secara inferensial, hasil Uji T Sampel Independen menghasilkan nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,021 (<0,05), yang menunjukkan perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan antara kedua kelas. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa model RADEC efektif dalam meningkatkan prestasi kognitif siswa pada materi fisika yang kompleks.

Abstract

The results of the PISA international assessment show that Indonesian students' scientific literacy skills are still below the average of OECD countries. This condition indicates that students' conceptual understanding abilities have not developed optimally. In science learning, especially vibration and wave material, students tend to memorize material without understanding the meaning of the concepts being learned. One alternative that can be applied to overcome this problem is traditional musical instrument-based deep learning. This study aims to describe the conceptual understanding of eighth-grade students of SMPS YKPP Sungai Pakning on vibration and wave material through the application of traditional musical instrument-based deep learning and to determine the differences in conceptual understanding of students who learn using traditional musical instrument-based deep learning and students who learn using conventional learning. This study uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental type and a posttest-only control group design. The research sample consisted of 44 students divided into an experimental class and a control class. Data collection was carried out through a 20-question conceptual understanding test. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical tests through normality and homogeneity tests, as well as the Independent Sample t-Test. The results showed that the average score of the experimental class was higher. The significance value was 0.022, indicating a significant difference between the two groups. The results of the study indicate that traditional musical instrument-based deep learning is effective in improving students' conceptual understanding of vibrations and waves

Abstract

This study aimed to describe students' cognitive learning outcomes and evaluate the effect of implementing a deep learning approach assisted by Pear Deck interactive media on high school students' cognitive learning outcomes in wave materials. This research was a quasi-experimental study using a non-equivalent control group design. The population consisted of all eleventh-grade MIPA students at SMAN 16 Pekanbaru during the even semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Samples were selected using a lottery technique, resulting in class XI.1 as the experimental class (31 students) and class XI.2 as the control class (29 students). Data were collected through a posttest consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions measuring cognitive levels C1 to C5. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics and inferential statistics using the Independent Samples t-Test via SPSS 27. The descriptive analysis showed that the average posttest score of the experimental class was 84.29 (Good category), while the control class scored 77.82 (Good category). The inferential analysis yielded a significance value of 0.034, which is less than 0.05. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, indicating a statistically significant difference in cognitive learning outcomes between the two classes. It can be concluded that the application of a deep learning approach assisted by Pear Deck interactive media has a positive and significant effect on improving high school students' cognitive learning outcomes in physics, particularly on wave materials.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, Share) learning model on the problem-solving abilities of eleventh-grade students in the heat topic. The research method used was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a posttest-only control group design. The study sample consisted of two classes: the experimental class taught using the SSCS model and the control class taught using conventional learning. The research instrument used was a problem-solving ability test in the form of descriptive questions given at the end of the lesson (posttest). Data were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and independent sample t-tests. The results showed a significant difference between the problem-solving abilities of students in the experimental and control classes, with a significance value of <0.05. Thus, the application of the SSCS (Search, Solve, Create, Share) learning model has an effect on improving the problem-solving abilities of eleventh-grade students in the heat topic
