Abstract

The results of a Mujtahid's Ijtihad can change. Therefore, differences in the results of Ijtihad are often found between one Mujtahid and another scholar. Even one scholar or Mujtahid can have different new ijtihad results with the old ijtihad results on the same issue. This research analyses the role of social factors in changes in Imam al-Syafi'i's legal thinking, which is focused on the validity and how likely social factors affect changes in al-Syafi'i's ijtihad in Qaul Qadim and Qaul Jadid. This type of research is library research that focuses on library sources in the form of books and journals that are relevant to understanding the validity or how much the role of social context in changing al-Syafi'i's thinking. The results showed that social conditions can only be one of the considerations for the change in al-Syafi'i's ijtihad in Qaul Qadim and Qaul Jadid, because a Mujtahid must understand fiqh al-waqi' (fiqh of reality). However, the main factor in the change of opinion on Qaul Qadim and Qaul Jadid is the change in tarjih al-adillah (superiority of arguments) both Naqli arguments (al-Qur'an, Hadith, Atsar) and Aqli arguments (Ijma', Qiyas).

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of financial literacy and cognitive biases on investment decisions among Gen Z investors in Indonesia. A cross-sectional descriptive survey design was employed, guided by a positivist epistemology. Data were collected from 229 respondents through an online questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the hypotheses. The results reveal that financial literacy and cognitive biases significantly impact investment decisions. Higher financial literacy is associated with more rational and informed investment choices. Conversely, cognitive biases, including hindsight bias and the illusion of control, strongly influence decision-making processes. These findings highlight the importance of targeted financial education programs to enhance financial literacy and reduce the effects of cognitive biases, enabling Gen Z investors to make better financial decisions. This study provides valuable insights for policymakers and educators to support the financial well-being of the younger generation.

Abstract

Productive waqf is a strategic instrument in Islamic economics with significant potential to address socio-economic challenges, such as income inequality and poverty, while simultaneously fostering sustainable development. This article explores the transformation of productive waqf based on the values of the Qur'an, employing a case study approach in Indonesia. Qur'anic principles, such as justice (QS. Al-Hadid: 18), sustainability (QS. Al-Baqarah: 267), and wealth redistribution (QS. Ali Imran: 92), serve as the primary foundation for the modern and productive management of waqf. Through literature analysis and case studies of institutions like the Indonesian Waqf Board (Badan Wakaf Indonesia/BWI) and Sinergi Foundation, this study identifies that integrating Qur'anic values with digital innovation and professional nazhir management enhances the effectiveness of waqf as a socio-economic instrument. The findings reveal that digitalization, sharia-based asset management, and community participation can overcome traditional challenges, such as low waqf literacy and limited nazhir capacity. Strategic recommendations are proposed to strengthen the synergy between the government, waqf management institutions, and the community, particularly in optimizing productive waqf assets to support economic empowerment and equitable redistribution of welfare.

Abstract

Penta Helix is used in public policy, but in some instances, the Penta Helix can be used as a standard for implementing restoration activities. The involvement of the Penta Helix Plus actor is vital to oversee mining activities and, at the same time, make restoration activities successful in mining.  This research method uses a mixed method, namely combining qualitative data in the form of interviews, documentation, and observations with quantitative data in the form of questionnaires, then conclusions are drawn. This research shows that the Penta Helix Plus is an alternative that involves many parties and becomes an ideal new pattern. Hypothesis testing was obtained at 2p = 0.90 in the rejection area of Ho. In addition, the role of Penta Helix Plus shows that entrepreneurs are much more dominant, with 29%, which shows the restoration of the PT. HMM is based on a high level of personal awareness. In addition, environmental sensitivity that must be returned to its original state is also the reason for this restoration. This study concludes that the median test results show the synergy between the Penta helix plus actors in the restoration activities of excavation C in Pasuruan. Penta Helix Plus is an offer for a new formulation as well as public participation in synergy in controlling exploitation activities and expecting restoration activities to be carried out. The involvement of the Penta Helix Plus cannot be separated from the elements of communication and coordination, which are the most critical synergy indicators. Key Words: Mining, Penta helix plus, reclamation.

Abstract

Abstract

IntroductionIn Indonesia, zakat is a critical Islamic social finance instrument aimed at poverty alleviation and community empowerment. While most zakat programs remain consumptive, the shift toward productive zakat offers a sustainable approach to improving economic welfare. However, empirical studies that examine its actual implementation and governance models are still scarce, particularly within the context of local zakat institutions in Indonesia.ObjectivesThis study investigates the implementation of productive zakat empowerment in Malang Regency by analyzing the role of the Pentahelix collaboration model—integrating government, academia, private sector, media, and community—in supporting the distribution and impact of zakat-based economic empowerment programs.MethodThis research adopts a qualitative case study design, focusing on BAZNAS Malang Regency as the unit of analysis. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with institutional stakeholders and triangulated with documentary analysis of zakat distribution reports from 2020 to 2024. The study utilizes an inductive analytical framework to examine how Pentahelix-based collaboration influences the effectiveness of productive zakat implementation.ResultsThe findings reveal that BAZNAS Malang Regency has made substantial progress in transitioning from consumptive to productive zakat programs through initiatives such as small-business capital provision and equipment distribution. These efforts, implemented across 33 subdistricts, have led to significant economic improvements for mustahiq, with an estimated 25% increase in income levels. Moreover, the study finds that the success of these programs is closely linked to multi-sector collaboration under the Pentahelix model, although disparities in stakeholder engagement and the absence of formal mentoring and evaluation frameworks remain.ImplicationsThe results highlight the potential of productive zakat as a tool for sustainable poverty alleviation and economic inclusion when combined with collaborative governance. The Pentahelix model provides a viable framework for institutionalizing such efforts, though further development is needed to ensure strategic alignment, measurable impact, and long-term sustainability.Originality/NoveltyThis study contributes to the growing literature on Islamic social finance by offering an in-depth case analysis of productive zakat practices supported by multi-stakeholder collaboration in Indonesia. It introduces a nuanced understanding of how zakat institutions can serve as developmental agents in achieving Islamic economic objectives beyond traditional charity models.
