Abstract

This study aims to determine partially and simultaneously the Influence of Motivation and Work Discipline on Employee Work Performance at the Human Resources Development Agency Office of Binjai City. In this study, a saturated sample technique was used with a total population of 45 employees. This study is a quantitative descriptive study with a questionnaire instrument. The analysis methods used are t-test, f-test, Multiple Linear Regression Analysis, and the Coefficient of Determination. The results of the t-test indicate that motivation has a significant influence on work performance with a calculated t value > t table and a calculated sig value < sig table (2.915 > 2.01537) and (0.006 < 0.05). Work discipline has a significant influence on work performance with a calculated t value > t table and a calculated sig value < sig table (2.670 > 2.01537) and (0.011 < 0.05). The f-test results show that motivation and work discipline simultaneously influence work performance, with the calculated f value > f table and the calculated sig < sig table (16.688 > 3.22) and (0.00 < 0.05). The results of the multiple linear regression analysis indicate a positive influence of motivation and work discipline on work performance, both partially and simultaneously, with a value of Y = 4.184 + 0.391X1 + 0.431X2 + 0. The coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.443 indicates that the independent variable has a 44.3% influence, while the remaining 55.7% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

Social alienation among some Grade X Natural Sciences students at SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara was categorized as moderate, as indicated by their tendency to withdraw from social interactions, feel unaccepted by their environment, pay insufficient attention to personal hygiene, have low self-confidence regarding their physical appearance and hobbies, and experience difficulty participating in learning activities. This study aimed to analyze the effect of group counseling services using the self-talk technique on reducing students’ levels of social alienation. The study employed a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental method and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research population comprised 93 Grade X Natural Sciences students, while the sample consisted of six students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a social alienation questionnaire developed by the researcher and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test with SPSS version 26. The results showed that the mean social alienation score decreased from 115.50 on the pretest, which was categorized as moderate, to 91.16 on the posttest, which was categorized as low. The hypothesis test yielded an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.027 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the levels of social alienation before and after the intervention. Thus, group counseling services using the self-talk technique had a significant effect on reducing the level of social alienation among students at SMA Negeri 2 Rantau Utara. These findings provide practical implications for Guidance and Counseling teachers to use the self-talk technique in group counseling services to help students improve their self-acceptance, self-confidence, and social engagement.

Abstract

Community participation–oriented village development is an important approach to achieving effective, sustainable, and locally appropriate development. This study aims to examine and analyze the implementation of participatory development in Kampung Pinang Village, Perhentian Raja District, Kampar Regency. The focus of this research is community participation in the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of village development. This study employs a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The research informants included village government officials, members of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), community leaders, youth leaders, and residents of Kampung Pinang Village. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that participatory development in Kampung Pinang Village has been implemented by involving the community, particularly at the planning stage through village deliberation meetings. Community participation is also evident during the implementation stage in the form of labor, material contributions, and support for village development programs. However, community participation at the evaluation stage has not been optimal, as community involvement in development evaluation forums remains limited. Therefore, efforts are needed from the village government to enhance community participation at all stages of development in order to achieve more optimal and sustainable village development. Keywords: participatory development, community participation, village development.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is menstrual pain commonly experienced by adolescent girls and can interfere with daily activities, including schoolwork. A systematic review by Armour et al. (2019) of 21,573 women under the age of 25 reported a combined prevalence of dysmenorrhea of 71.1%. In Banjaran Pucung Village, Depok City, preliminary assessment results indicate that the majority of adolescent girls experience menstrual pain every month, while knowledge regarding non-pharmacological management of dysmenorrhea—such as the use of herbal remedies made from turmeric, lemongrass, and lime (kuserpis) as well as acupressure—remains limited. Issues: the high incidence of primary dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls in Banjaran Pucung Village and the low level of knowledge and skills among adolescents in performing self-management using non-pharmacological methods. Proposed Solution: Health education on dysmenorrhea, accompanied by demonstrations on preparing herbal remedies made from turmeric, lemongrass, and lime (kuserpis), as well as training in acupressure at the Sanyinjiao (SP6), Hegu (LI4), and Guanyuan (CV4) points. Type of Participants: 14 adolescent girls aged 13–17 in Banjaran Pucung Village, Depok City. Activity Schedule: Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Activity Types: education, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Implementation methods consisted of preparation, execution, and evaluation. Objectives: to improve adolescent girls’ knowledge and attitudes regarding dysmenorrhea, as well as their application of kuserpis and acupressure. Output: Community Service Journal.
