Abstract

Riset dan inovasi pada ekosistem terumbu karang sangat diperlukan dalam upaya menghadapi gangguan alami dan antropogenik yang merusak. Hal ini untuk memahami bagaimana prioritas intervensi manusia dalam usaha perbaikan melalui rehabilitasi atau restorasi. Berdasarkan informasi ilmiah bahwa dalam beberapa dekade terakhir dimana sudah banyak terumbu karang yang telah sangat terganggu, sehingga diperlukan terobosan riset dan inovasi. Beberapa riset dan inovasi yang dapat diinisiasi untuk mendukung program rehabilitasi adalah: (1) Pergeseran komunitas terumbu karang; (2) Perbaikan komunitas terumbu karang dari fenomena pemutihan massal, spesies invasive, dan penyakit karang lainnya; (3) Persediaan bibit transplan berdasarkan analisis konektivitas, resiliensi dan keragaman genetika Terumbu Karang untuk restorasi; (4) Interaksi antara koral, alga dan mikroba, serta implikasinya untuk ekologi dan bahan obat; (5) Makroekologi, fungsi ekosistem dan biogeografi; dan (6) Pembuatan pelayanan pemetaan ilmiah biodiversitas dan rehabilitasi/restorasi berbasis website. Sebagai contoh, ekosistem terumbu karang di Kepulauan Seribu yang terletak di utara Jakarta, merupakan lokasi yang sangat cocok untuk mempelajari tentang pengaruh alami dan antropogenik, dan bagaimana memberikan pemilihan terhadap teknik rehabilitasi yang sesuai. Teknik restorasi atau rehabilitasi (Misalnya: Ecoreef, Reefball, Rockfile, Artificial Reef, dan Transplantasi karang) sudah banyak dikembangkan di Indonesia. Teknik tersebut mempunyai kelebihan dan kekurangan dan tidak ada satu metodepun yang bisa memuaskan semua pihak dan tidak ada satu metodepun yang bisa diterapkan pada berbagai kondisi dan kesehatan terumbu karang. Dukungan riset dan inovasi terumbu karang akan memberikan peluang untuk partisipasi inklusif bagi seluruh komponen masyarakat untuk memelihara ekosistem terumbu karang di Kepulauan Seribu secara tepat guna.Kata kunci: Transplantasi karang, rehabilitasi, restorasi, pemutihan masal, spesies invasive

Abstract

Soft coral is one of the marine organisms that produce secondary metabolites materials and has potency as anticancer. There is much research to find bioactive compounds in the organism, but it still lacks data to find potency of bioactive in soft coral that lives under acidification pressure. The objectives of this study are to determine the characteristic of acidification in Krakatau seas and to assess the potency of cytotoxic activity from soft coral Sarcophyton. Sampling was conducted in three locations, Legon Tuo, Legon Cabe, and Umang-umang Island, to take the sample and measure water quality. Cytotoxic test using MTT method (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolinon) to MCF-7 cancer cell line to measure growth inhibition percentage. Data were analyzed using ANOVA, post hoc analysis, and multivariate analysis. Water quality in Legon Tuo and Legon Cabe have significant different to Umang-umang Island. However, Legon Tuo and Legon Cabe are suitable as acidification site, while Umang-umang Island as the reference site. The characteristic of Krakatau seas, especially in Legon Tuo and Legon Cabe study site, was categorized in low acidification. In the cytotoxic activity, soft coral Sarcophyton from Legon Cabe (acidification site) is more potential than soft coral from Umang-umang Island (reference site).

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan mengenai tingkat kecelakaan lalu lintas berdasarkan provinsi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder yaitu data kecelakaan lalu lintas 4 bulan pertama tahun 2019 di Indonesia dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 31 provinsi. Analisa data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan analisis deskriptif, uji Chi-Square, analisis profil baris dan kolom, analisis nilai inersia baris dan kolom, serta grafik Korespondensi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa kecelakaan luka ringan merupakan tingkat kecelakaan dengan jumlah terbesar di Indonesia, dengan persentase sebesar 21,4% korban kecelakaan lalu lintas terdapat di provinsi Jawa Timur, sebesar 17,7% terdapat di provinsi Jawa Tengah. Berdasarkan grafik korespondensi korban kecelakaan luka ringan dan meninggal dunia dominan terjadi di provinsi Jawa Timur, Jawa Tengah, dan Jawa Barat. Korban kecelakaan luka berat dominan di provinsi Sumatera Utara dan Lampung.

Abstract

The superior development priority of Human Resources (HR) is the answer to the twisted development of the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0 which is currently booming. Increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian people through education is a logical and philosophical argument; which the demographic bonus that Indonesia has in 2020 more than 67% of the Indonesian population is in productive ages. Islamic Religious College is one of the locomotives that is believed to be able to deliver its demographic bonus in accordance with the Strategic Plan owned by the Indonesian. This opportunity has also been captured by the education world with the issuance of the Indonesian Qualification Framework (Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia, KKNI) policy and strategic policies issued by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kementerian Riset, Teknologi, dan Pendidikan Tinggi) and the Ministry of Religion (Kementerian Agama) in welcoming the rapid development. The policy product resulted by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education and the Ministry of Religion at the upstream level has the same goal, but at the grassroots downstream level the policy implementation in each of Islamic Higher Education (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam, PTKI) is very dynamic and sometimes also contradictory to the policies of this institution. The focus of this research is to examine the contradictory realities in implementing interrelated policies in various Islamic Religious Colleges using a qualitative approach. The findings of this research can be concluded that dynamics, contradictions in the policies implementation in various PTKIs due to social conditions, campus politics, academic culture and the authority leader who lead a university, become a trigger for multiple interpretations of a policy product.

Abstract

Sandy anemone (Heteractis malu), belongs to Phylum Cnidaria, physiologically is very close to coral stone, which was a major component of coral reef ecosystems. As coral stone, Heteractis malu also has symbiotic algae (Zooxanthella). Physiologically, the alga symbiotic relationship of coral stone is almost similar with Heteractis malu. Maintaining Heteractis malu in the laboratory is relativly easier compared to that of coral stone. Advantages of the Heteractis malu vs. stone coral, its body is not covered by limestone makingit easier in processing analyses. The response of the anemone to stress is expected similar with coral stone. This research aims to analyze the response and adaptation of Heteractis malu to the temperature increase of 1 °C and 2 °C of the normal temperature (28 °C). The impact of temperature increases on Heteractis malu did not significantly affect the density of zooxanthellae, however, there was a significant increase of mitotic index. In addition, during a recovery process, Heteractis malu immune system did not show a significant increase based on its mitotic index results tended to decrease during the second phase of stress treatment.Keywords: Adaptation, sandy anemone (Heteractis malu), temperature increase,, zooxanthellae

Abstract

Biorock® technique is the earliest methods to rehabilitate the damage of coral reef ecosystem. Its improvement is need to carry on since it is subject to some inhibitions in particular the dependence of expensively-imported Titanium (Ti) as the anode materials. The main purpose of this research was to find the best anode material as a possible subtitution which can be economically and easily to apply in Indonesia. Therefore we compared Titanium (Ti) with two other potential anodes material (Magnesium-Mg, and Aluminum (Al). The laboratory study was carried out for two days period (48 hours) in the stagnant sea water aquaria. Four aquarium tanks were treated by different electric current treatment (1 Ampere, 2 Ampere, 3 Ampere, and 5 Ampere, respectively). The reduction of electrode weigh (anode and cathode) was measured. During the experiment, water quality (i.e. pH, and salinity) and mineral waters (calcium) were collected every 6 hour in 48 hours. The solid form of calcium carbonate was analyzed using XDS (X-ray Dispersion Spectrophotometer). The accretion rates on cathode and anode decay were compared between anodes which were treated by different electrical current. Based on the study, three anodes (aluminum, magnesium and titanium) showed different respond. Titanium and Magnesium anode showed electric current affected accretion rate (P < 1), while for aluminum anode showed no differences on treatments.Keywords: mineral accretion, Biorock®, anode, coral reef rehabilitation, accretion rate, anode decay rate, mineral uptake

Abstract

The objective of this study was to explore the information on the microhabitat preference of asteroidea in Hari Island Waters, Southeast Sulawesi.  The specimens were collected in August 2012 and December 2012. The methods used in this study were road sampling technique, freehandpicking, and observation. The geographical coordinate position of the asteroidea and microhabitat were recorded by using GPS and then mapped by using the ArcGIS 10.1.  Asteroidea map was overlayed with microhabitat map to determine the microhabitat preference. The study found 9 species of asteroidea belonging to 7 generas, 4 families, and 2 orders. All the asteroidea were relatively common species in the tropical shallow waters. The species were distributed along sides of the island with majority found in the northern side. The dominant species, Linckia laevigata, was found in all microhabitat which had beed adapted to various microhabitat conditions and water fluctuation. Based on area of distribution and population density, seastar tended to use reef coral as its microhabitat preference since reef coral could serve as a food source and habitat protection. Abstract

ABSTRACT Soft corals contain bioactive compounds that can be used as a marine natural product. The puposes of this study was to determine of the soft corals inhibition potential for antibacterial activity. The methodology in this study included field sampling, extraction (in the solvent of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol), antibacterial bioassay, and briefly describe the type of soft coral that possesed the highest inhibition. In sampling treatment, the biomass among wet samples and dry samples varied.  The highest shrinkage due to drying was found in Nephthea, followed by Lobophytum and Sarcophyton, while the lowest was found in the genus of Sinularia. Extracted from 12 samples of soft coral, the lowest extract weight was found in the semi-polar solvent (EtOAc), while the extract weight of n-Hex and MeOH was vary. Inhibition power from all extract samples was found on soft coral extract in the EtOAc and MeOH solvents. The highest value of inhibition power was found in soft coral of Sinularia polydactyla and S. Abstract

Panggang Island is one of the snorkeling and diving area in the Seribu Islands. Number of tourists increase every year in line with the improving of tourism infrastructure such as tourist boat and dive shops. Tourism activities not only provide economic benefits but also give negative impact on coral reef ecosystem. The results of direct observations showed that there was destructive impact from snorkeling and diving. The most destructive behavior done by snorkeling and diver who has license was stepping on the coral reef. While the most destructive behavior by diver who has no license was holding the coral reef. The continued effect of tourist destructive behaviour grouped into three categories such as rubble, scratches on top of coral colony, and crushed coral colony. Based on the tourism impact analysis showed that diverwho has not been licensed gived the greatest damage impact,it was 13.55% per year of the ecological potential. While the impact of snorkeling touristwas 5.05% and diver who has license gived the smallest effect, it was 2.36%.  Comparison of coral reef data between 2010 and 2016 showed no significant changes to the coral reef, it means that until now coral reefs of Panggang Island still tolerate any disturbances including impact of tourism activities.Keywords : coral reef, diving, snorkeling, tourism, Panggang                      IslandPanggang Island is one of the snorkeling and diving area in the Seribu Islands.
