Abstract

The culture of flexing on social media is commonly known as showing off wealth or achievements, which has an impact on society and ethics. This study aims to discuss the culture of flexing from the perspective of hadith. This study uses a qualitative approach by applying a thematic method. The formal research objects are the concept of riya' as minor shirk, the principle of intention in deeds, and the prohibition of takabbur, which have been formulated in accordance with the themes of the hadith. The research material objects are the various motives and forms of flexing behavior that occur in the current era of social media. The results of this study indicate that the themes of the hadith can be formulated in a theoretical framework to address the phenomenon of flexing on social media. The discussion of this research explains that, in the view of the hadith, the motive for flexing is often to obtain validation and praise from other people. The various forms of flexing range from showing off wealth, lifestyle, and other achievements. The impact of this behavior in the hadith is that the deeds become futile and become an obstacle to entering heaven because of arrogance. This study formulates solutions in the form of alternative digital ethics, including the virtue of doing good deeds in secret, humility, and maintaining sincerity. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that the cultural phenomenon of flexing can become a positive ethic if it prioritizes right intentions and awareness in activities in the era of social media

Abstract

This study examines the tradition of manaqiban recitation in Kampung Asem Tarikolot, Serang Regency, Banten, as a form of living hadith practice within the religious life of the community. The manaqiban tradition is practiced routinely and continuously; however, it does not originate from textual awareness of the Prophet’s hadith. The community understands manaqiban as a religious practice whose benefits are directly experienced, such as inner tranquility, perceived blessings in life, and the strengthening of social relations among congregants. This research employs a qualitative method with a field research approach through observation and interviews and is analyzed using the living hadith perspective and a structural-functional approach. The findings indicate that hadith values such as consistency in religious practice (istiqamah), reliance upon God (tawakkul), and solidarity among fellow believers are alive and internalized in the practice of manaqiban, even though they are not explicitly recognized by the community as deriving from the Prophet’s hadith. This study affirms that hadith exists not only as a normative text but also as living values that are interpreted and practiced within local Muslim religious traditions

Abstract

This study aims to examine the values of business integrity embedded in the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as an ethical foundation for Islamic economic practices. The academic problem addressed arises from the persistence of unethical business behaviors that contradict principles of honesty, justice, and moral responsibility, despite the availability of strong normative Islamic sources. This research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach, with data collected through thematic analysis of hadiths related to business activities and examined using content analysis techniques. The findings reveal that the Prophetic hadiths explicitly and implicitly emphasize core values of business integrity, including honesty in transactions, trustworthiness, fairness, transparency, and strict prohibitions against fraud and manipulation. These values function not only as moral guidelines but also as practical principles for fostering trust and ensuring business sustainability. The discussion highlights that integrating hadith-based integrity values into contemporary economic practices offers an ethical solution to modern business challenges and reinforces the relevance of hadith studies in the development of Islamic business ethics

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Parawanten tradition in Kaduhauk Village, Banjarsari District, Lebak Regency as a living hadith phenomenon through a symbolic interactionism approach. The research focuses on the practice of giving chickens to paraji (traditional birth attendants) as a form of appreciation for services, almsgiving, and requests for prayers, as well as on how hadith values are lived and interpreted within this tradition. This study employs a qualitative descriptive-interpretative method, with data collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants were selected using purposive sampling, consisting of paraji and community members directly involved in the implementation of the Parawanten tradition. The findings reveal that the community does not refer to hadith texts explicitly, but rather internalizes their substantive values in the form of institutionalized social ethics. The chicken functions as a symbolic representation of hurip (a prosperous and blessed life), reciprocity for good deeds, inclusive almsgiving, and a medium for maintaining social bonds. Through ongoing social interaction and intergenerational transmission, hadith values related to gratitude, reciprocating kindness, charity, and prayer are embedded in local cultural practices. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of living hadith studies by emphasizing the role of cultural symbols as media for the actualization of hadith values. Practically, it offers contextual insights that can support cultural-religious dialogue and the formulation of policies grounded in local wisdom

Abstract

This study explores the concept of self-care from the perspective of Prophetic traditions (ḥadīth) using the thematic (mawḍū‘ī) approach. The research is motivated by the growing awareness of mental health and life balance in modern society, which is often challenged by social pressure and a fast-paced lifestyle. Through an analytical study of various ḥadīths related to physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and intellectual self-care, the research finds that Islam provides a comprehensive framework for personal well-being as an act of worship and moral responsibility. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized the importance of balance between worship and rest, patience and gratitude, as well as cleanliness and health as foundations of a harmonious life. Therefore, self-care in Islam is not merely an individual practice but an integral aspect of sustaining spiritual well-being, productivity, and social harmony

Abstract

The development of Islamic personality from an early age serves as a vital foundation in shaping a morally upright generation aligned with the spiritual and social values taught in Islam. In this context, the Hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) function as ethical and moral guidelines that can be utilized to instill Islamic character in children. This study aims to examine the role of Hadiths in shaping children's personalities through the lens of developmental psychology. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, this research is based on a literature review, drawing primarily from selected Hadith collections and scholarly works on child developmental psychology. Thematic analysis was conducted to identify Hadiths that convey core character values such as honesty, compassion, responsibility, and discipline. The findings reveal that the values embedded in Hadiths are highly relevant to the psychological stages of child development, particularly in the domains of moral and social growth. The internalization of these values can be effectively achieved through age-appropriate strategies, including modeling behavior, positive reinforcement, and effective communication within family and educational settings. The study concludes that integrating Islamic teachings from Hadith with developmental psychology approaches offers a comprehensive and effective strategy for cultivating an Islamic personality in children. Therefore, the active involvement of parents and educators is crucial in applying these values in the daily lives of children

Abstract

Patience is a fundamental value in Islamic teachings that is reflected in many traditions of the Prophet Muhammad. However, how Muslim adolescents interpret patience in the context of daily life is an interesting issue to be studied in more depth. This article aims to build a theoretical understanding of the construction of the meaning of patience in the lives of Muslim adolescents through Kathy Charmaz's constructivist Grounded Theory approach, combined with an analysis of the hadiths related to patience. This study was conducted by examining the real experiences of Muslim adolescents in various social and spiritual contexts, such as academic pressure, emotional conflicts, and the search for Islamic identity. Data were collected through contextual literature review, phenomenological observation in digital social spaces and Islamic communities, as well as reflection on daily narratives spread in social media and the work of Muslim teenagers. All findings were analyzed using the principles of open coding and theoretical coding typical of Grounded Theory. The results show that patience is not only understood as a passive attitude of restraint, but is interpreted as an active struggle in maintaining values, strengthening faith, and building resilience. This understanding is shaped by the interaction between the hadith teachings, the collective experiences of adolescents, and the values that develop in their social environment. This article emphasizes the importance of a contextual approach in understanding Islamic values that live in the reality of adolescents, and encourages the development of character education based on spirituality and culture of the younger generation.
