Abstract

One of the problems for human resource management is the desire to leave (turnover intentions) which can lead to the nurse's decision to leave her job. One way for nurses to stay in the hospital is to increase employee retention. The purpose of this study was to develop recommendations to increase employee retention based on the Internal service quality approach at Batu Bara Hospital. This research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. This research was conducted at the Batu Bara Hospital from September 2020 to March 2022. The research population used was nurses who were actively working at the Batu Bara Hospital, totaling 105 people with a total sample of 105 respondents. Linear regression tests and multiple linear regression tests were used to determine the effect between the dependent variable and the independent variable. The results showed that the cooperation variable and role conflict variable had no effect on increasing nurse retention, and the variables of suitability to work, suitability to technology, self-control ability, supervisory system, and role ambiguity had an effect on increasing nurse retention at Batu Bara Hospital. In this study together the independent variables have an influence on the dependent variable with a large effect of 95.9%. Suggestions for the Batu Bara Hospital should further strengthen the relationship between nurses by holding regular meetings, providing knowledge to nurses about the organizational components of Batu Bara Hospital through guidance from managers/supervisors and regular training to nurses, improving the quality of existing job designs that can This is done by completing the equipment and technology needed by nurses and reviewing the existing reward system, where the reward system must implement a justice system based on the workload, education, work experience and achievements of nurses.

Abstract

Complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are common in workers with a reasonably heavy workload, such as workers at refill drinking water depots. MSDs can be caused by repetitive activities such as daily bending, lifting and lowering liters of drinking water refills. This study aimed to identify the risk factors of MSDs among workers at refilled drinking water filling depots and analyze the dominant factors that influence MSDs. This study was quantitative research with an analytical survey using a cross-sectional design conducted in Simpang Selayang Village, Medan City, Indonesia. A total of 40 refilled drinking water depot workers were involved in this study with a comprehensive sampling approach. Data was collected directly by distributing questionnaires to workers at refill drinking water filling depots. Data were tested statistically using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. The analysis showed that work posture, workload, tenure and length of work are associated with MSDs complaints. The results of the logistic regression test showed that the dominant variable influencing MSDs complaints is work posture. Refillable drinking water depot workers with non-ergonomic working postures were likely to experience MSDs complaints 11 times as often as those with ergonomic work postures. The findings highlight the need for local health agencies to educate or empower workers at water refilling stations regarding MSDs complaints. Musculoskeletal disorders associated with work involving heavy loads could be prevented if workers know ergonomic work postures well. In addition, adequate rest is recommended to avoid musculoskeletal injuries.

Abstract

Background: Pesticides can poison users if they do not follow pesticide use standards. This is because the active substances in these pesticide products can cause acute pain. Objective: The study aimed to identify the factors of safe behavior in using pesticides in farmers. Methods: This study employed a scoping review method. The literature search was carried out on the indexed databases of Google Scholar, Science Direct, Scopus, PubMed, Free Medical Journals, and ProQuest in English. There were 450 research articles, and 15 met the inclusion criteria. From the 15 journals, information was collected from the publication year 2015-2021, article titles, design, population, interventions, and results. Relevant study articles related to the topics were qualitatively analyzed using NVIVO-12 Plus. Results: The analysis showed that knowledge, safe behavior of using pesticides, farmers' education, and personal protective equipment are the dominant factors influencing the safe behavior of using pesticides on farmers. Conclusion: Farmers who do not comply with safe behavior will have a higher health risk because of the toxicity of pesticides that can be directly inhaled and enter through the pores of the farmers’ skin.

Abstract

Stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of disability. World Health Organization in 2021 found that around 70% of disability and 87% of deaths due to stroke occur in low- and middle-income countries. One of Indonesia’s efforts to minimize disability in post-stroke patients is medical rehabilitation. In an effort to maintain the patients’ motivation to adhere to medical rehabilitation, hospitals employ the hospital health promotion program. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of the hospital health promotion program on stroke patients' motivation for medical rehabilitation. This quantitative analytic study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted at Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital and Medan Haji General Hospital. The research population was 124 post-stroke patients (48 patients from Haji Adam Malik Central General Hospital and 76 patients from Medan Haji General Hospital) and all of them were used as samples (total sampling). Data collection was conducted using a valid and reliable questionnaire (validity and reliability test carried out). Analysis was carried out using frequency distribution, chi-square, and double-log regression analysis. This study found that 90 out of 124 participants had high motivation for medical rehabilitation, while the rest had low motivation. The results showed that the hospital health promotion program had a significant effect on the motivation of stroke patients for medical rehabilitation, namely empowerment (OR=2.842), atmosphere building (OR=2.937), advocacy (OR=3.028), and partnerships (OR=2.738). Advocacy has the most impact on the patient’s motivation with OR=3.028. It can be concluded that hospital health promotion program has a positive influence on stroke patients’ motivation to undergo medical rehabilitation. Hence, implementation of similar health promotion program on other hospitals are highly encouraged to influence stroke patients’ motivation for medical rehabilitation.

Abstract

Patient satisfaction levels are a good sign of how well a hospital provides services. The likelihood that a patient will return increases if they are satisfied with the hospital's services, which obviously benefits the facility. In this study, Royal Prima Medan outpatients' intentions to return to RSU were examined in relation to several service quality metrics. A cross-sectional design was used for this analytical survey research study. The study's population consisted of 4,011 average outpatients at the Pulmonary and Cardiac Polyclinic from July to August 2022. A sample of 98 respondents using an unintended sampling strategy was drawn from this cohort. Methods for univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data analysis were used in this study. The findings showed that the intention to return to the hospitalized patients road was influenced by the variable quality of infrastructure (sig-p = 0.004 0.05), the variable quality of human resources (sig-p = 0.025 0.05), and the variable quality of security (sig-p = 0.015 0.05), whereas the personal quality variables (sig-p = 0.054 > 0.05, gender = 0.253 > 0.05, education = 0.322 > 0.05, and occupation) were not.. According to the study's conclusions, it is thought that providing health staff training, reducing patient costs for less fortunate patients, and creating an organizational structure focused n duties and education will all enhance the hospital.
