Abstract

Kampong chickens have genetic characteristics that are not uniform, one of which is the color of the shank. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of Kampong chicken eggs based on the color of the parent shank. The number of eggs observed was 150, consisting of 50 eggs from black shank hens, 50 from white shank hens, and 50 from yellow shank hens. The variables observed in this study were egg color, egg texture, egg weight, and egg index. Egg color and texture were analyzed descriptively based on percentage values. In contrast, egg weight and index were analyzed using analysis of variance in a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 10 replications. The results of this study indicate that the color of Kampong chicken egg shells in black, white, and yellow shank chickens shows a variety of egg colors. The texture of the Kampong chicken eggshell, based on the color of the shank on the exterior, is quite high quality. The egg weight of black shank-colored Kampong chickens was not significantly different (P>0.05) from that of white and shank-colored chickens. The index of native chicken eggs with yellow shank (P3) was significantly higher (P

Abstract

Andrographis paniculate (AP) is one of the traditional herbs of Indonesia that contains andrographolide and has immunomodulator, antibacterial, and antiviral activities. Leucocyte is part of the specific immune system that protects the organism from infection by pathogens, and its response can be affected by immunomodulators such as andrographolide. This study used 60 mice divided into 5 treatment groups of different AP extract doses (control negative, control positive, KS1: 200 mg/kg BW, KS2: 300 mg/kg BW, KS3: 400 mg/kg BW) and was done by completely randomized design. AP extract was given to treatment groups for 21 days. On day 22, mice were orally challenged by Salmonella typhi infection, and blood samples were collected on day 24. Results of this study showed a decreasing leucocyte count in mice treated with AP extract and challenged with S. typhi compared to control positive (untreated and infected group). The results also showed a shift in differential leucocyte percentage in treated groups closer to the normal number in the control negative (untreated and uninfected) group. AP extract at 400 mg/kg BW can be used as an immunomodulator to improve mice's immune response to Salmonella typhi infection.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the people of Opaasi Village, West Ranomeeto District, South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province in implementing the LEISA system. Methods for implementing this community service activity include: 1) Socialization of the LEISA system concept; 2. Demonstration on making alternative feed for ruminants; 3. Demonstration of making organic fertilizer; 4. Monitoring and Evaluation. During the activity, the community was very enthusiastic in listening to the presentation of the socialization material and was active in discussions, especially during technical guidance on making animal feed and organic fertilizer. At the end of the activity, the community in Opaasi Village has begun to slowly implement the LEISA system concept on integrated cattle farming land by using organic fertilizer on vegetable and ornamental plants and feeding cattle with ammoniated straw on a small and limited scale. This community service activity can increase the knowledge and skills of the Opaasi Village community in implementing LEISA. The positive impact currently felt by local communities is that they can provide healthy vegetables for consumption and provide animal feed in the dry season

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the Capacity to Increase the Population of Bali Cattle in Mowila District, South Konawe Regency. The data used in this study is divided into two, namely, primary and secondary data. Primary data were obtained from surveys and direct interviews with respondents. Meanwhile, secondary data was obtained from related agencies such as the Livestock Service Office, Agriculture Service Office and BPS Konawe Selatan Regency. The variable measured is the Capacity for Increasing the Population of Ruminant Livestock which is analyzed using the calculation of the Capacity for Increasing the Population of Ruminant Livestock. Respondents are Balinese cattle breeders who have 2 or more cattle. The sample was selected from the population by a simple random method, from 10 determined villages/kelurahan, respondents were selected using the Slovin formula with the number of farmer households (RTP) 1,009 and the results obtained were 91 people which were then adjusted by the researchers to 100 people. The results of the research that have been carried out show that Mowila District, Konawe Selatan Regency has the potential to add Bali cattle. This is supported by the availability of human resources, the experience of farmers, the scale of ownership that can be increased, the average farmer already has education and the availability of land.

Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the Reproductive Performance of Bali Cattle in Tinanggea District, South Konawe Regency. The method used in this research is the quantitative descriptive method which is defined as a method that aims to create a picture or description of a situation using numbers, starting from data collection, interpretation of the data as well as the appearance and results. The research variables observed were the mating system, service per conception (S/C), and calving interval (CI). Based on the research results, the reproductive performance of Bali cattle in Tinanggea District where the mating system used was 96% natural mating, while the number of matings carried out until the cattle become pregnant or the average Service per conception is 1.72 times and the Calving interval (CI) is 12.45 months. It is necessary to carry out further research regarding the reproductive performance of Bali cattle in Tinanggea District and provide education regarding artificial insemination (AI) and livestock breeding systems patterns so that breeders have a better understanding.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of varying temperatures on sexed spermatozoa and its impact on the quality of Brahman cross (Bx) cattle sperm. The research was carried out at the Animal Breeding and Animal Feed Center in Southeast Sulawesi Province, utilizing spermatozoa from Brahman cross (Bx) bulls. Using a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments (temperatures) - P1 (29°C), P2 (21°C), and P3 (37°C), each with a sexing time of 20 minutes - the study assessed macroscopic and microscopic aspects of fresh spermatozoa. Key parameters included volume, color, pH, concentration, viability, and motility percentage. Statistical analyses revealed significant effects of different sexing temperatures (P
