Abstract

In certain fields, experiments involve many factors and are constrained by costs. Reducing runs is one of the solutions to reduce experiment costs. But that can cause the number of runs to become less than the number of factors. This case of experimental design also is known as a supersaturated design. The important factors in this design are generally estimated by involving variable selection such as forward selection, stepwise regression, and penalized regression. Genetic algorithm is one of the methods that can be used for variable selection, especially for high dimensional data or supersaturated design. This study aims to use a genetic algorithm for variable selection in the supersaturated design and compare the genetic algorithm results with a stepwise regression which is generally used for a simple design. This study also involved fractional factorial design principles. The result showed that the main factors and interactions of the genetic algorithm and stepwise regression were quite different. But the principle was the same because the variables correlated. The genetic algorithm model had a smaller AIC and BIC and all of the main factors and interactions which had chosen were significant on the 0.1%. Therefore genetic algorithm model was chosen although computation time was much longer than stepwise regression.

Abstract

Application development must be done by considering the usability factor of the application. Three aspects of usability measurement, namely usefulness, satisfaction, and ease of use, are latent variables that cannot be measured directly, so the appropriate analysis is the Structural Equation Model-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). PLS is a SEM analysis approach that does not require assumptions of data distribution and a minimum number of observations. The measurement of the usability of the Thymun application is described in two SEM-PLS models. This study aims to determine the best model and determine the effect of usefulness, satisfaction, and ease of use on the usability of the Thymun application. The data used is survey data to 44 Thymun application users. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The results showed that the best model has a good measure with an R-square value of 0.730 and Q2 0.453 with a Goodness of Fit 0.736. The variables of usefulness and ease of use have a significant effect on the 5% real level with path coefficient values of 0.255 and 0.636. While the satisfaction variable does not have a significant effect on the 5% real level with a path coefficient of 0.058. Thymun application usability score is 76.47.

Abstract

In unit-level small area estimation (SAE), the commonly used nested error regression (NER) model assumes normality which is not always the case. To handle non-normal data, researchers in statistics have developed a novel approach using exchangeable and extendible copula called the multivariate exchangeable copula (MEC) model. This study compares the performance of parametric MEC and NER models in estimating the sub-district average of per capita expenditure (PCE) in Pidie Regency, Aceh Province. This study presents PCE, which has a skewed distribution of the three-parameter skew-normal. The parametric MEC model uses a Gaussian copula from the Elliptical family and an empirical best unbiased prediction (EBUP) estimator. Meanwhile, the NER model uses an empirical best linear unbiased prediction (EBLUP) estimator. The results reveal that at a 95% confidence level, the parametric MEC model outperforms the NER model with a smaller root of mean squared error (RMSE) and provides a more precise estimate of the sub-district average of PCE. This study highlights the importance of considering the parametric MEC model as an alternative method for skewed data in unit-level SAE. The results of this study have the potential to support the achievement of Goal 1 (to end poverty) and Goal 10 (to reduce inequality) of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) by providing average PCE estimates at the sub-district level.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Premarital sexual behavior is sexual behavior that is carried out between men and women without legal marriage. As the number of premarital sex increases, efforts need to take. One that can do is to identify the main factors contributing to reducing or increasing premarital sex behavior by a Regression model. In the context of sexual behavior, environmental influences cannot be ignored. GLMM is used to model data that is grouped into certain Groups, include environment effect that is modeled as mixed effect in GLMM. In terms of parsimony, the LASSO method can do selection variables. This research uses GLMM LASSO and GLMM Group LASSO as a model to approach the data. The best model that describes premarital sex behavior in South Sulawesi is the GLMM Group LASSO model based on the greatest AUC value. The variables that significantly influence the model are Type of Residence (X_1), Education Level (X_2), Literacy (X_3), Internet use (X_4), Knowledge of Contraceptive Methods (X_6), Health Insurance Ownership (X_7), Employment Status (X_8), Knowledge of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (X_9). By knowing the factors that influence premarital sex behavior, the government is expected to take the appropriate action for handling it.

Abstract

Scientific documents contain valuable knowledge which can be discovered using text analysis. Meanwhile, the act of typing the text may discover the psychological and health condition. The hand load of the typer is essential information for designing a better keyboard, which is relevant to students' well-being in higher education institutions. This study aims to analyze the hand load of students when typing their theses in the Indonesian language. We calculate letter frequency in the Indonesian language theses documents, examine the hand load balance based on letter position on a QWERTY keyboard, identify letter hotspots, and examine hand alternation using circular visualization. The results are that the left hand has the higher load hand, indicated by the most frequent letter appearing in the documents and the letter W as the hotspot, located on the keyboard's left side. Moreover, hand alternations based on the sequence of Indonesian text identify a significant high alteration of letters from the left to the left side when typing Indonesian documents using the QWERTY keyboard. This result confirmed that the left hand has more load and less time to take a break than the right hand.

Abstract

GLMMTree is a tree-based algorithm that can detect interaction and find subgroups in the GLMM to improve fixed effect estimation. This study uses GLMMTree for the actual data applications of poverty in Indonesia and confirms that the GLMMTree algorithm method has better precision than GLMM. The significant predictors that affect poverty in Indonesia are the unemployment rate and the GRDP at a constant price. GLMMTree algorithm enriches the analysis by finding subgroups of provinces with electricity lighting access and clean drinking water sources variables.

Abstract

Imbalanced classes are indicated by having more instances of some classes than others. The cost-sensitive boosting algorithm is a modification of the AdaBoost algorithm, which aims to solve the problem of imbalanced classes. In this study, we evaluate the cost-sensitive Boosting algorithm AdaC2 using Indonesia's underdeveloped region's data. This study confirms that the cost-sensitive boosting algorithm (AdaC2) performs better in classifying the instances in the minority classes than standard classifiers algorithms.

Abstract

Generalized Linear Mixed Model (GLMM) is a framework that has a response variable, fixed effects, and random effects. The response variable comes from an exponential family, whereas random effects have a normal distribution. Estimating parameters can be calculated using the maximum likelihood method using the Laplace approach or the Gauss-Hermite Quadrature (GHQ) approach. The purpose of this study was to identify factors that trigger student's interest to continue studying at Universitas Syiah Kuala (USK) using both techniques.  The GLMM is suitable for the data because the variable response has a Bernoulli distribution, and the random effects are assumed to be having a normal distribution. Also, the model helps identify the relationship between the dependent variable and the predictors. This study utilizes data from six high schools in Banda Aceh city drawn using a two-stage sampling technique. Stage 1, we randomly chose six out of sixteen public senior high schools in Banda Aceh. Stage 2, we selected students from each school from four different major classes. The GLMM model includes one binary response variable, five numerical fixed-effects, and two random effects. The response variable is the interest of high school students to continue study at USK (yes or no). The five fixed effects in the model including scores of collaboration (C), Action (A), Emotion (E), Purposes (P), and Hope (H).  Finally, the random effects are schools (S) and majors (M). In this study, both Laplace and GHQ techniques produce identical results. The predictors that can explain student interest are A, E, and H. These predictors have a positive effect. The random effects of schools and majors are not significantly different from zero. The model with three significant predictors is better than the complete predictor model.

Abstract

Many researchers conduct research using the classification method, to find out the best method for predicting the class of an observation. Some of these studies explain that random forest is the best method. However, the classification of data containing outliers and unbalanced data is a complicated problem. Many researchers are also conducting research to deal with these problems. In this study, we propose a winsorizing to deal with outliers by replacing the outlier values with the upper and lower limit values obtained from the interquartile range method and random oversampling to balance the data. It is also known that cases of the Human Development Index (HDI) in regencies/cities in eastern Indonesia vary widely, so cases of HDI in these areas can be used as case studies of data containing outliers and unbalanced data. The purpose of this study was to compare the performance of the random forest before and after the data were applied to the winsorizing and random oversampling to predict HDI in districts/cities in eastern Indonesia. Classification method random forest after handling data containing outliers and unbalanced data has better performance in terms of accuracy and kappa values, which are 96.43% and 93.41%, respectively. The variables of expenditure per capita and the mean years of schooling are the most important.
