Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Cooperative Script learning model on students' mathematical concept comprehension skills. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study is all 8th-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Toma, and the research samples consist of class VIII-C as the experimental group and class VIII-D as the control group. The data were analyzed using the Liliefors test to check for normality, variance tests for homogeneity, and t-tests to test the hypothesis. The research findings show that: (1) the use of the Cooperative Script learning model improves students' ability to understand mathematical concepts and makes them more focused and actively engaged in learning; (2) the hypothesis test results show that tₕᵢₜ > tₜₐbᵗ (2.583 > 2.000), which leads to the rejection of the null hypothesis (Hₒ) and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ). Therefore, it can be concluded that the Cooperative Script learning model influences students' mathematical concept comprehension abilities.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation process of differentiated instruction and the factors that affect the implementation of Mathematics learning using differentiated instruction in the 4th grade. This qualitative research uses descriptive data such as written texts, statements, and behaviors observed in the teaching and learning process. The study was conducted in the odd semester of 2024 at SDN 104186 Tanjung Selamat. The research informants were the teacher and the 4th-grade students. The differentiated instruction in Mathematics implemented in the 4th grade at SDN 104186 Tanjung Selamat had a positive impact on content, process, and product differentiation. Furthermore, the factors influencing the successful implementation of differentiated instruction in 4th-grade Mathematics included effective teaching strategies and active student involvement.

Abstract

Purpose: This research investigates how high school students approach three-dimensional geometry problems by considering differences in cognitive styles (impulsive and reflective) and levels of mathematical ability. The aim is to understand the variations in problem-solving strategies based on Polya’s stages, which include understanding the problem, planning, executing, and reviewing the solution. Method: A descriptive qualitative method was used with a comparative case study design. Four students were selected through purposive sampling, each representing a unique combination of cognitive style and mathematical ability. Data collection involved problem-solving tests and semi-structured interviews. The analysis focused on tracing the students’ reasoning and decision-making processes throughout each stage of problem solving. Findings: The results show that students with a reflective cognitive style tend to be more thorough when planning and reviewing their work. Impulsive students, on the other hand, often rush through the process, resulting in errors, although those with high mathematical ability can still demonstrate effective strategies and occasionally correct their mistakes. Students with stronger mathematical ability generally show better visualization, abstraction, and accuracy in applying geometric concepts. Significance: These findings suggest the need for instructional strategies that are sensitive to students’ cognitive profiles. Teaching approaches that emphasize structured reflection and scaffolding may enhance geometry learning outcomes, especially for students who tend to act impulsively.

Abstract

Tujuan  dari  kegiatan  Pengabdian  ini  adalah  untuk  Memberikan penguatan kompetensi literasi dan numerasi dengan keterampilan untuk mengakses, mengevaluasi, dan menggunakan informasi secara efektif dalam kehidupan sehari-hari di SD Negeri 4 SINGKAM  kabupaten   Samosir   Sumatera   Utara seperti membaca buku, menulis cerita, membuat catatan, menyimak audio dan meringkas, mendeskripsikan gambar, dan berdiskusi tentang suatu topik. Peserta dari kegaitan pengabdian ini adalah SDN Negeri 4 Singkam kabupaten Samosir.  Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan oleh dosen-dosen pembimbing dan mahasiswa Kampus mengajar Universitas HKBP Nommensen Pematangsiantar yang mencakup tahap persiapam, pelaksanaan pelatihan/workshop kepada guru-guru SD, pendampingan dan penyusunan laporan. Dengan menerapkan strategi-strategi di atas, diharapkan kompetensi literasi dan numerasi siswa di SD dapat meningkat secara signifikan, sehingga mereka siap menghadapi tantangan di masa depan.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the utilization of behaviorist learning theory to strengthen deep learning instruction through a systematic literature review approach. Deep learning, as a branch of artificial intelligence, demands high-level conceptual understanding and technical skills. Meanwhile, behaviorist theory offers structured learning principles—such as reinforcement, stimulus-response, and repetition—that are relevant for building disciplined and goal-oriented learning processes. A review of scientific literature from 2020 to 2025 indicates that the application of behaviorist principles can enhance student motivation, concept retention, and technical proficiency in mastering deep learning materials. Positive reinforcement and immediate feedback have been shown to effectively reinforce desired learning behaviors, while systematic repetition improves long-term retention and problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, integrating behaviorist principles into digital learning systems increases the effectiveness of adaptive and self-directed learning. Nevertheless, behaviorism should be combined with cognitive and constructivist approaches to achieve more comprehensive learning outcomes. This study recommends the strategic use of behaviorism as a foundational framework in the design of deep learning instruction in higher education settings.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of cognitivist learning theory in enhancing the effectiveness of Deep Learning, both as a pedagogical approach and as a form of artificial intelligence (AI) technology. Cognitivism emphasizes the importance of internal mental processes, knowledge structures, and cognitive load management strategies in understanding and retaining information. Meanwhile, Deep Learning in education demands higher-order thinking skills, conceptual understanding, and the ability to connect knowledge across contexts. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes scholarly works published between 2010 and 2025 that discuss the integration of cognitive theory into digital learning design and adaptive AI systems. The findings indicate that strategies such as worked examples, fading, chunking, advance organizers, and metacognition-based active learning effectively improve learners’ comprehension in Deep Learning contexts. Furthermore, the use of AI-powered adaptive technologies developed based on cognitivist principles—such as neural cognitive diagnosis—can enhance learning personalization and instructional effectiveness. This study concludes that the synergy between cognitivist theory and Deep Learning can shape a more meaningful, reflective, and sustainable learning framework.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing deep learning based on humanistic learning theory on the learning abilities of students at Methodist Kuala Private Junior High School. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consist of two classes, namely class VIII-1 as the experimental class and class VIII-2 as the control class, each consisting of 32 students. The research instrument consists of a learning ability test administered to both groups before (pretest) and after the intervention (posttest). The data obtained were analyzed using a t-test to examine differences in learning outcomes between groups, as well as N-Gain calculations to determine the level of improvement in learning ability. The results showed that the initial abilities of the two groups were relatively equal. However, after the treatment, the experimental class achieved higher posttest scores (M = 87.5; SD = 7.16) with an N-Gain of 0.71 (high category), compared to the control class (M = 82.3; SD = 7.37) with an N-Gain of 0.59 (moderate category). The t-test results showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) in learning outcomes after the treatment. These findings indicate that humanistic theory-based deep learning is effective in improving students' learning abilities while creating an empathetic and supportive learning environment.

Abstract

Plastic waste that is difficult to decompose is a serious problem in environmental pollution. Geometry is a difficult subject for students, and plastic waste can be used as teaching aids to help students learn geometry. This research is a type of development research and aims to develop teaching aids from plastic waste in learning plane geometry in fifth grade elementary school. The results showed that the teaching aids developed were valid, practical and effective. Teaching aids are called practical if they meet the interesting, gradation, independent, auto-correction, and contextual aspects. The validity of the teaching aids is obtained through aspects of suitability, completeness, convenience, and clarity. Based on the assessment of the three validators, an average score of 3.50 was obtained so that the teaching aids were categorized as valid. The practicality of teaching aids by students showed that 95% of students stated that they were interesting, graded, and independent, 74% of students stated that it was auto-correction and 91% stated that it was contextual. The effectiveness of the teaching aids can be seen from the significant difference between the average pre-test score of 46.2 and the post-test average score of 77.3. The props from the plastic waste that were developed are stored and will be used later for the same lesson in the future.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Limbah plastik yang sulit terurai adalah masalah yang serius dalam pencemaran lingkungan. Geometri merupakan pelajaran yang sulit bagi siswa, dan limbah plastik dapat digunakan sebagai alat peraga untuk membantu siswa dalam belajar geometri. Penelitian ini adalah jenis pengembangan dan bertujuan mengembangkan alat peraga dari limbah plastik dalam pembelajaran geometri bidang datar di kelas V SD. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa alat peraga yang dikembangkan valid, praktis dan efektif. Alat peraga disebut praktis jika memenuhi aspek menarik, bergradasi, mandiri, auto correction, dan kontekstual. Kevalidan alat peraga diperoleh melalui aspek kesesuaian, kelengkapan, kemudahan, dan kejelasan. Berdasarkan penilaian tiga validator diperoleh skor rata-rata 3,50 sehingga alat peraga dikategorikan valid. Kepraktisan alat peraga oleh siswa menunjukkan bahwa 95% siswa menyatakan menarik, bergradasi, dan mandiri, 74% siswa menyatakan auto correction dan 91% menyatakan kontekstual. Keefektifan alat peraga terlihat dari perbedaan yang signifikan antara skor rata-rata pre tes 46,2 dan skor rata-rata pos tes 77,3. Alat peraga dari limbah plastik yang dikembangkan disimpan dan akan digunakan kemudian untuk pelajaran yang sama di kemudian hari.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitiaan ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh langsung strategi pembelajaran guru dan minat terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa, serta pengaruh langsung strategi pembelajaran guru, minat, dan pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian ini mengambil subjek siswa kelas VIII di SMP Swasta BNKP Luzamanu dan SMP Negeri 3 Lotu yang berjumlah 169 siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian ex-post facto yang bersifat koresional. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan tes dan angket, kemudian diolah dan dianalisis dengan teknik analisis jalur. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (a). Terdapat pengaruh secara langsung strategi pembelajaran guru dan minat terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa (b). Terdapat pengaruh secara langsung strategi pembelajaran guru, minat, dan pemahaman konsep siswa terhadap hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Sebelum adanya Kurikulum 2013, tujuan pembelajaran terkesan lebih mengutamakan aspek kognitif siswa, sementara aspek afektif dan psikomotor hanyalah sebagai dampak pengiring, yang belum menekankan aspek literasi matematika PISA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan soal matematika setara PISA dengan konten perubahan dan keterkaitannya yang valid, praktis, dan untuk mengetahui efek potensial soal terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika siswa kelas IX SMP dengan konteks jajanan di Sumatera Utara. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan. Penelitian ini akan mengembangkan 4 butir soal sejenis PISA dengan konten perubahan dan keterkaitannya dengan konteks satu butir soal kue lappet model limas, dua butir soal kue bika ambon model tabung, dan satu butir soal kue bika ambon model balok. Validitas dari soal telah tampak berdasarkan komentar validator ahli dan validator guru dan respon siswa yang menyatakan bahwa konten, isi materi, dan bahasa juga berdasarkan jawaban siswa pada tahap one-one menunjukkan bahwa soal adalah valid. Hasil pengembangan soal ini diujicobakan kepada siswa kelas IX SMP sebanyak 32 siswa dan hanya ada satu siswa yang bisa menyelesaikannya. Untuk menunjukkan data yang lebih baik lagi, soal ini perlu diujikan lagi kepada siswa kelas X SMA tentu dengan usia yang belum jauh dari usia 15 tahun, sehingga aspek efek potensial lebih tampak lagi.
